I couldn't possibly want to run into someone other than my PA that understands what day today was.
" Sir, are you okay?" A soft voice interrupted my thoughts process. I realized that I was gripping tightly on the steering wheels.
" Ms. Scott, is the only question you know how to ask? The next time I hear it, I'm going to make sure that your bonus is taken away" I threatened
" I was just being worried. You don't have to be rude about it" I heard her whisper under her breath. It was like the words were spoken for me to hear but in a way that it looks like she was just murmuring. My little spitfire, indeed.
Whoa, where did that nickname come from?
" Okay, sir" She finally replied me, giving me one of the most fake smile I've ever seen. Well, she really was terrible at acting.
The rest of the ride was quiet. And I was actually disappointed. She had told me earlier that she was going to get a cab and meet me at the destination.
But I refused. She must have figured out that Mark was not going to be able to drive us today because I gave him a day off.
That meant that we were stuck together in the front.
" Sir, I can drive. Go seat at the back" was what she told me when we came out of the office.
" I don't think I will able to trust you enough with my car" I said to her.
" Because I'm a female?" She asked me
" Because I don't even let Mark drive this car" I countered her.
"Just enter the car. We're late" I said and she proceeded to open the back door.
" Do you by any chance want your boss to be your personal driver today?" I asked her.
" I suggested that I drove " She said, as if that made all the sense in the world.
" People are watching. Go seat at the front" I said to her, this time as a command.
That seemed to do the trick. I was not sure that it was my order that made her do it bit instead, the fact that she looked around and people were infact looking.
She always had something to say back. My commanding tone never really got to her. For example, this morning when she came into my office.
We arrived at our destination. The meeting went quicker than I expected.
Mr. Yang seemed very impressed with our presentation and even though I knew that I was quite impressive, I know that there was another very good company who was also vying for this position.
" Mr.Michael Fletzon, it was nice doing business with you" He shook my hands while his translator translated his Chinese to English.
I could speak a little bit of Chinese but I was not overly fluent. Same goes for Mr. Yang so he hired a translator to follow him on his trip
" Your name sounds rather familiar " I heard the translator interpret what Mr. Yang just said again.
" I think it was from all the messages I sent to you so we could have this meeting. It was quite a lot and your brain must have registered it well " I said, with a polite laugh.
" No, that's not it. Only your surname seem familiar. The man who just left here had the same surname. Looking at you, you both look alike. Are you perhaps related to ..."
" Mr. Yang, I think that I would take my leave now. My secretary is not feeling too well" I said interrupting the translator.
He gave my message to him and Mr. Yang smiled.
" Okay, see you later too" He said. He probably figured that I had no interest in the topic.
I left the room, Trisha following me after bowing her heads in greeting to the man.
A smart move I must say, that was China's way of showing respect.
" I am feeling well" Well, someone didn't understand much about making up excuses.
" I know, Ms. Trisha. That was just an excuse" I muttered.
" Okay " she said. Surprising me by not asking any other questions.
" If it isn't my long lost brother" I heard a voice that I have not heard in the last ten years.
" Stefan, what do you want?" I asked him. I had no interest in bonding again with him.
" I didn't expect to see you here today of all days. Aren't you supposed to be in mourning?" He asked me, his face gloating.
" I don't have time for this" I told him. I didn't want him to go on. Trisha was also right there. We looked so much alike so even if he didn't call me his brother, our resemblance must have revealed everything. I just didn't want her to know what a crazy family relationship I had.
" Now, who is this beauty?" It looked like he was just noticing that we had company.
" Leave her out of this" I said.
" Why should I ? She is a pretty little thing" He told me and walked towards her.
" You know that you can come to me. That guy over there is a waste of your time. He is absolutely nothing " He said.
Looking at her, it was as if I just witnessed the biggest change I've ever seen in someone.
From the confused face she has, it turned into something like fury.
" Mr. Whatever you are called, I don't care who you are and what you problem you have with my boss but you don't dare involve me. By the way, you look like you can give birth to me and lastly, try to learn some manners because I can tell you for free that you lack it"
My brother was speechless for longer than I've ever seen him.
But true to her words, my brother was fifteen years my senior so that meant he was twenty two years her senior and could definitely give birth to her.
" So, you're a staff?" He couldn't just keep quiet any longer.
" Are you his secretary?" He asked. It was like he got his answer with our silence.
" You really are just like him. Having something with the filthy brain dead secretary"
My fists connected with his jaw at that moment and everything went south
