Chapter 4 The Unexpected Guest

I had left the restaurant a while ago, got welcomed by Laura and here I was restless, and panicking.

My emotions were getting in control and tackling it was an issue. How can he be here?

Her spoon made a rattling sound on the plate. She had been trying to chat with me, but my head was occupied.

"Mom, today's swimming competition, I met with our new tenant..."

I only hummed for her to feel I was listening, but I wasn't really interested.

"He's so handsome, Mom, and stays in the..."

"Mom"

"Shut up!" I queried, fusing at her because she was disturbing. I didn't want to hear her voice as the thought of Dante was occupying my head.

All I devised was how to end this man, but all she cared about was her wants.

Her lips were shaky as she stared blankly at me. When our eyes met, I could see him peering at me, because he hurt her feelings.

Hastily, she climbed down her chair and ran outside the house. I felt bad, exhaling softly.

The message I desperately waited for pop on my screen. He had come to make me tense like always.

"Mission accomplished" it read, and I felt pain coursing through my chest.

I folded my lips, nervous and anxious. I was a monster, but then I just had to keep my emotions in check, to start destroying him as soon as I could.

A video was sent to me and it was a burning building.

My eyes were filled with flame, pain as I watched the building burn and when I was satisfied with the outcome, I switched off the phone.

It was time to focus on my daughter before the news came rolling in.

It took a while for me to muster up courage to go see her. She never meant any wrong, I just overreacted.

I knew where she'd be, at the penthouse, her favorite spot. Too bad, she'll be losing it tomorrow.

Languorously, I stuffed some chocolates in a basket, rehearsed on how to appease her and stepped out.

I wore a bright face for the first time in a long while after receiving the beguiling news of Dante's villa getting burnt.

My eyes stared at the penthouse, I could hear loud music coming from there, which made me curious.

It was always quiet but then, something was bizarre. Probably Peris, my fiancé, was there and stayed in the penthouse.

Speaking of which, the man who stuck this ring in my hand and disappeared on a business trip. My fiancé, so to say.

I fastened my steps, got the door open, only to be greeted by the unexpected.

I was startled and shaken to my knees.

Laura was there, painting and dancing, along with a young man who was returning to me.

I inhaled softly, my heart palpitated, my face pale as my hands were shaky.

When he shoved his face at me, I cringed as the chocolate dropped from my hand.

I swayed a bit, my world paused as the man I was looking at was who I ordered to get assassinated a few seconds ago.

It was Dante.

My heart skipped as I evaluated him, perplexed and jumpy.

He was wearing a shirtless sleeve, revealing his rigid muscles.

The sleeve was glued to his skin, revealing his sturdy abs. His long hair tied behind.

He was in shorts, a pen stuck to his left ear and a part of his face was covered with paint.

My cheeks flushed red, as he looked so enchanting that I couldn't help but stare. He was alluring and sexy as he always was.

He has a tattoo on his left arm and I only got to realize that my name was on it. Missdra.

His hand turned off the music and they both stared at me like criminals caught in the act. I breathed heavily, with a feeling that I'd collapse.

Was he stalking me? When he said those lines to get me back, did he really mean it?

"Miss Kendra?" He muttered, totally stunned to see me like he wasn't expecting me. His eyes scrutinized me while Laura trembled.

I snapped back, realizing he was a dangerous man and my Laura was in danger.

"Mom?" Laura called, hiding her face behind him, and I was wroth.

I sulked my breath, quite scared, as I quickly rushed to where Laura was and pulled her behind me while giving him a daring glare.

"What are you doing here!" I barked, raged and panting softly. It seems that questions keep coming.

"Are you trying to abduct my daughter! I'll get you arrested!" I jumped to the conclusion as he tried to come closer, but I stopped him.

"Miss Kendra, I wouldn't..."

"Mom, he did nothing wrong" Laura cried, and I shushed her, trying to convince her that such men were deceitful and he was a thief. How did he get to my house?

"Fuck off Dante! I know you're putting on an act, but it won't work on me. Wait until I put you behind bars!" I raged, and he kept a forlorn face at me.

Hastily, I took out my phone to dial the police number, but then he dragged the phone from my hand, flung it on the chair, and I angrily yelled at him.

"Would you let me explain? I have a right to be here" he stated, and I waved my head as my eyes suddenly took a glimpse at Laura who was sobbing behind me.

"Get inside!" I ordered her, panting softly. Laura stomped out, and I was left with only Dante there.

He was fazed, I was mad. He drew closer to me, his facial expression. I could read it, sometimes, but never words. Sometimes, but we commune with our face.

Dante tried to touch me but I retreated backward.

"What will I gain by abducting your daughter? We are business partners..."

I snapped his hand away, shivering and breathing so hard.

"Not another word, Dante, explain yourself to the police when they arrive!"

His face popped as his eyes darkened at me. His breath was fast.

My body sways, a lazy and understated rocking motion. He raked his eyebrows as if I wasn't letting him explain.

"We know each other, don't we miss Kendra? Tell me I could make it up and..."

"No you can't, you never will, I wish you would just die, you can't harm my source of joy" I cried, almost whining and panting softly, just spewing out the words.
