Chapter 4 FIX IT!

"erm... I did pause it." I replied to him after a while.

"Why did you pause your treatment? Don't you want to feel better?" he asked me.

"I want to but I'm fine..."

"no, you are not. Take care of yourself 'cause if you don't and your health goes down, you will be the one to suffer it and no one else." he reminded me.

I had to put my head down and relax as he then summoned the nurses to come put the needles back while I closed my eyes, doing my best to absorb the pain that came with that.

"Here is your breakfast," he said, opening a bag he had come in with.

"I'm not hungry," I spoke, turning my head to not look at him.

He then stood up immediately and walked to the window opposite me to take a call that came in and when I saw that he wasn't looking, I took a sneak peek at the food beside me, its scent filling my nostrils.

"Okay I will eat," I admitted and in that instant, he ended his call and gave me his attention. I thought of his actions as weird and started looking at him but then he showed no sign of emotions as he took out a spoon and started feeding me.

"What will your wife or girlfriend do if she finds you feeding me?" I stated my concerns and sat up, trying to hijack the spoon from him but he was smarter.

"Stop!" he said to me once as he kept feeding me.

I glanced at his facial expression and saw how cold he was towards me or was it just me? I thought as I observed him the more.

"Master, the last deal is facing an issue." another young man walked in and reported.

"Fix it!" he replied with just two words.

"according to what we discussed the last time. I will master," he replied, bowing down.

Seeing the exchange, I could tell who was boss and who wasn't

"Hi!" I looked at the guy that had walked in, putting on a blue suit.

"Hello miss! I am Adrian Luke. I hope you feel better now." he said to me very softly.

"Yes, I do feel better. Call me Delilah." I replied to him.

"I have seen you on the television before so yes I know you."

"oh, that's great to hear. Thanks a lot!" I then said to him and turned to look at the man who still looked very mysterious to me.

He wasn't speaking to me and only seemed to focus on feeding me. After he was done, he packed the dishes up and dropped them inside the bag.

"How do you feel right now?" he asked me.

"I feel better all thanks to you."

"you don't look it but I won't delve deeper into it. Just know that you don't have to hide your pain when you are with me."

I looked deeply into his eyes which seemed very hard to me and my eyes couldn't help but get teary.

I had been with Ajay for about half of my youth and I could defend the fact that he had never treated me like I was his, unlike this man who was yet to know me yet was being so good to me right now.

Within the span of six years, I had fallen a few times and had visited the hospital but he had never for once fed me and made me feel loved instead, he would alert the media and I would get snapped and posted across all social media platforms and at times, the media and fans would interrupt my healing process by showing up at the hospital with noise all over my ears and when I tried speaking to him about it, he would call me ungrateful.

"You should be grateful I'm trying to keep you in the spotlight. Do you want to stop trending? They still need to know you are alive and with me." he would say to me.

Yeah, I guessed he thought I only deserved to trend for the wrong reasons and not the actual talent that brought me to the spotlight.

I tried my best to stop thinking about the mess and then turned to stare at the man beside me.

My tears then rolled down suddenly.

"I knew it!" he muttered and stood up to leave but then, I grabbed his left hand.

"I'm not going anywhere. I am here!" he assured me and gently took my hands off and walked to the door only to return with a face towel.

I froze.

He arranged the little towels and placed them on my face, cleaning every tear that I had on my face.

"I have told you to cry if you feel like it. Don't suppress it." his cold voice sounded again and suddenly, I pounced on him and started crying bitterly.

"I did everything for him. Six years! It's been six years yet he chose another woman over me. Who does that? How embarrassing!" I cried, my tears staining the fabric he had on.

After a while, I paused, suddenly feeling better, and moved away from him and that was when I realized that I had messed him up.

"I'm sorry about this." I apologized but he said no word and just drew me closer and held me in his arms.

"Thank you!" I said with all my heart after a while.

It's not been twenty-four hours since last night's incident but I felt like I owed this man a lot already. Feeling helpless, I looked up at him.

"what can I do to make it up to you?" I asked him.

"Why do you feel that way?" he inquired.

"Because you saved my life and made me feel human..." I answered him.

"That's because you deserve it," he said, holding my cheeks and staring into my eyes.

"I don't want to owe you. I want to repay you for saving me." I had to insist.

"There is only one way to repay me little dove!" he then said.

"which is..."

"Marry me!" he said spontaneously.

I looked up at him and couldn't help but become dumbstruck as my brain became a storm of its own.
