Chapter 1 AFTER SIX YEARS

~DELILAH

Some say love is beautiful, but I say, there's more to it. I think love is anger, sacrifice, it's grief, it's fear, it's hope, and above all, it's the truth in the world of lies.

My name is Delilah Finn. My close pals just call me Delilah. I am a twenty-six-year-old woman swimming in the tale of what I call love. My journey through it has been nothing but overwhelming and at that time of the night, I sat on my favorite chair in my bedroom and wrote down my feelings in the form of a song. Soon, I paused and looked up at my clock, I saw that it had just clocked 10 pm. Taking a deep breath, I thought it would be cool to pause as I was going to have a long day the next day, so I dropped the pen and stood up to leave when suddenly, I heard my phone beeping.

"Who could be calling at this time of the night?" I spoke up, my voice only sounding in whispers.

Looking at the screen, it was my aunt.

"Oh Gosh!" I exclaimed and picked it up or she wouldn't stop calling.

"Hi, aunt!" I said quietly.

"What took you so long to pick up your phone? I have been calling you Delilah. Is everything okay?" Aunt Sia's voice came through. She sounded so worried.

"Aunt. I have just been busy plus you just called right now." I replied, rolling my eyes.

"yes actually." her voice calming down. "Your family won't stop bothering me. They said you aren't picking up their calls."

"They wouldn't stop talking about marriage either," I replied.

"But don't you ever plan to get married?..." she asked.

I took the phone out of my ear and looked at the screen, suddenly having the urge to end the call as I listened to her.

"Delilah you are twenty-six already. What's stopping him from popping the question? Your family needs you married. Your parents want kids. I want a grand niece and nephew. Don't tell me you are only thinking about yourself." she continued.

"How about we talk about this tomorrow?" I then requested.

"No problem. But please I would love it if you could have a positive answer by then," she said to me and I rolled my eyes.

Positive answer by tomorrow? Were they expecting me to go propose to a man? Lol!

Dropping the call, I could feel the family's pressure weighing me down. I guess it's time I do something about this though. Picking up the phone again, I tried calling Ajay. It rang for some time but he didn't pick up.

I wasn't surprised. He hardly ever sees my call. I then dropped my phone on the table and stood up.

I walked into my sitting room, picked up my car keys from my glass-made center table, and walked out of the house.

On getting downstairs and in my garage, I got into my black Highlander and drove out of my house.

I thought it was time to talk things through with Ajay, my fiance.

It was a lonely road but I wasn't worried about anything.

Soon, I got to the front gate of Ajay's Mansion and alerted the security. One of them noticed it was me and quickly opened the gate for me to drive in.

On parking my car at the garage, I heard songs playing.

What the hell could be going on in there? I thought and ran towards the door, pushing it open. To my surprise, it wasn't locked, so I got in.

The whole sitting room was a whole vibe of songs that I once wrote for an artist. It was playing but no one was vibing to it. I looked up at the stairs and then noticed a pair of red heels on it.

Shocked and abruptly bothered, I ran towards the stairs and picked up the shoes.

Who could be in there? I thought, my heart beating so fast.

Hope it's not what I am thinking. I thought to myself, my eyes closed.

With my finger, I peeled a part of the heel in a hidden part of it and then threw it down the stairs and after that, I ran straight to Ajay's bedroom.

I got to the door of the bedroom and paused automatically as my eyes captured the scene in front of me.

My breathing hitched and my world came crumbling right in front of me. On the master bed was my fiance of six years making out with a strange woman.

I turned my head to the cupboard close to his bed and saw his phone sitting on top of it, which meant, he saw my call but chose not to pick it up.

When he hadn't picked up my calls earlier, shouldn't it have been that he was busy with work or probably not seeing it? Turned out he was busy shamelessly cheating on me with this woman. The music sound didn't get to the room so I could easily hear the moans that came out of their mouth as they made out.

"I want you to do me a favor. Never see Delilah anymore. I don't want to share you with anyone." I heard the woman say shamelessly.

"Favor accepted. I promise you that, but, I want you to give me some time. It won't be easy to chase her away." I heard him reply.

"Wow, Ajay! This is how much you love me?"

"Hell yes! Who is Delilah compared to a woman as beautiful as you? Haha!" he replied to her, stroking her back and shoulders that faced me. Holding my breath, I staggered backward and grabbed the wall to sustain my footing.

Ajay!!!! AFTER SIX YEARS!!??

Six years of being in love with Ajay... It's been six years of sacrifice. I couldn't believe what my eyes were seeing. I then hid to see what the woman truly looked like. I didn't think I had seen her before so where did she come from?

If after six years, Ajay could easily talk me down and promise to let me go then what have I ever been to him?
