Chapter 5 Episode 05

It's late, after putting the kids to bed, I decided to go downstairs for a drink before going to bed as my mind is all over the place.

I went to the sitting room and saw Zoey drinking a glass of whiskey, I walked to the kitchen to get my glass and join her in the sitting room.

I gulped down a glass of whiskey at a go.

"hhhh...." I sighed.

"What's wrong, anything the problem?" Zoey questioned.

"I..." I sighed again, contemplating whether or not to tell Zoey.

"I got a letter from Moon Shadow pack saying they need my help to find a cure to the disease that is affecting and killing them, I..." I didn't finish as Zoey cut me short.

"Wait, Moon Shadow pack? Do you mean the Moon shadow pack we know of? Alpha Leo?" She questioned.

"Hh... yes" I replied with a frown on my face.

"What the f*ck, what does he want from you now? Rejecting and publicly humiliating you isn't enough for him, what else does he want" Zoey said very furious at the news, If not even more furious than I was.

"So Lena tell me, are you going to accept the request?" She asked with a sad and worried look on her face. I could tell she was genuinely worried about me. The past six years haven't been easy but Zoey was with me all the way, I understood that she's worried that Leo might try something funny, putting me back in the state I once was again.

"Never, I'll never help Alpha Leo, not after everything I went through in his hand." I said trying hard to hold back the tears threatening to fall.

Zoey breathe a sigh of relief.

" Lena, it's ok, you know what's best for you, whatever decision you make I'll support you"

I hug her, holding tight onto her " Thank you, Zoey, thank you for everything you've done for me, thank you for the encouragement"

It's been a week now, I went back to my normal daily activity, going to work and picking up the kids from school when I had the chance, but at the back of my mind, I had this foreboding feeling that this wasn't over with the moon Shadow pack.

I wrote back to Leo telling him I couldn't help him, that I had prior engagements, but I know Leo, even though he doesn't know that I'm his Selene if he's determined to get me to help the pack, he won't relent.

I drove into the building in my red Ferrari, eager to see my little devil, I parked at the car garage

"Mommy!"

They said in unison as they run towards me. I bend down to get a closer look at my babies

"How are you? Hope you had fun in school today."

"Yes mommy" they replied.

"Have you had your dinner?"

The three of them got quiet Immediately and stare at the floor, not looking at me.

"Liam? Have you and your siblings had dinner?" I asked the eldest of my three munchkins.

He finally looked up at me with his cute hazel eyes that remind me so much of his father.

"No momma, we wanted to have dinner with you." He told me, and Immediately, the other two look up at me with the same cute looks on their face.

Well, there's no way that I can get mad now. "That's so sweet of you guys. All right, let's go have dinner."

We had dinner together. Afterward, I kissed their foreheads and sent them to bed.

"Goodnight my babies,"

"Goodnight momma." They mumbled sleepily.

The nanny was about to follow them when she turned around. "Lena, this letter arrived for you while you were at work."

Another letter. Another Moon Shadow Pack seal.

"Thank you," I said, my voice tight.

"Is that what I think it is?" Zoey asked me with a look of anger on her face.

"Yes, it's another letter from the moon Shadow pack, from Leo. I knew this wasn't over." I told her I hoped that that feeling I had all week was wrong, but this letter proved me wrong.

"So are you going to open it or are you just going to continue staring at it?" Zoey asked me.

"If I don't open it, I could just pretend that I never actually got it," I told her, but a part of me wants to know what the letter says.

"You have to open it, Lena," Zoey told me always being the voice of reason.

I break the seal and open the letter. I read the contents for a few minutes, and when I was done, I let out a huge gasp.

"What is it, Lena? What does it say?" Zoey asked me and you can hear the anxiousness in her voice.

I looked at Zoey, my face pale. "Leo said he's willing to give me half of the pack's land and wealth if I find a cure."

Her jaw dropped. "Half his land and wealth? That means he's desperate. Desperate enough to keep looking for you..." Her voice dropped. "And if he finds you, he'll find the kids too."

My blood turned cold. The letter slipped from my fingers.

Six years. Six years of hiding. Six years of protecting them.

And now Leo was offering everything to drag me back.

I stared at the letter, my hands shaking. The thought of Leo laying a single finger on my babies - the ones he called bastards, the ones I'd hidden for six years - made my chest ache with terror.

If I refused, Leo would keep searching. He would find me. He would find them.

But if I went back...

I would be walking straight back to the man who had destroyed me.

Zoey reached for my hand, her voice trembling. "Lena... so what are you going to do?"
