Chapter 4 Episode 04

SELENE:

6 YEARS LATER:

Selene:

"Doctor Lena, it's time for you to go in." I heard from where I was seated and immediately rose to my feet. Zoey was with me, and so she held my hands, nodding her head and telling me that I was going to do great.

I took a deep breath in and out, then I began to walk into the hall room. As I got in, I met the ladies seated and waiting for my presence. A smile appeared on my face and then I walked towards them

"Good day, ladies." I greeted before taking my seat.

"Doctor Lena, what a wonderful surprise it is to meet you." I chuckled a bit at their words and nodded my head. The room filled with strong and resilient single mothers like me was a place where I got to pour out my heart on what I had been through throughout the years after I was rejected.

They were here to hear my story, the story of how I had managed to become this successful.

After I was Rejected 6 years ago, I came to the Crescent Pack with my best friend Zoey, and that was where life began for me. It wasn't so easy, there were times I wanted to give up and tell myself that I was nothing, but I didn't. When my parents lost their lives to some wild animals in the forest where they worked as farmers, I thought it would be over for me. I was six months pregnant with my triplets when I received the news, and for weeks, I couldn't bring myself out of my one-room apartment, which I shared with some ladies. Zoey wanted to offer me help so many times but I refused to take her help simply because I felt I had to do everything on my own. I even had to change my name to Lena so no one in my past would be able to recognize me.

I turned to the ladies so I could begin,

"You've come so far as a single mother and a successful doctor; how did you manage to achieve all of that in the short span of six years?"

I chuckled aloud as one of the women spoke, but then I was going to answer her. Thinking about my past was sometimes so heartbreaking, but knowing that my story always gave life and hope to many women out there made me so happy and stronger. I had this feeling that there was more in stock for me.

"It's a really long story, but I'd like to start from after I was abandoned by my husband." I chuckled again as I suddenly recalled Leo. "It wasn't easy, believe me, ladies; I wanted to end my life as well when I thought about where to go, who I could turn to, and the babies growing inside my womb. I had not even known they were three back then. I couldn't run to my parents because it would worry them so much, especially my mother, so I came to the crescent pack, hoping to start something there. I worked so hard, living in a one-room apartment with five ladies who bullied me because of my size. Taking up to 6 menial jobs wasn't so easy especially because I was also carrying three babies. Once again, my world nearly came crashing down when I heard my parents were attacked by some wild animals. At that moment, I became an orphan and life threw even more at me because I was fired from three of my jobs." I heaved deeply and wiped away the tears that brimmed my eyes, and then continued.

"I never once cursed the father of my childhood. What was I? A simple girl who had nothing to offer him. One thing I bore in mind was that I would never let him set eyes on my babies.... The children he abandoned and called bastards."

"That was so cruel." One of the ladies uttered, but I chuckled. If only they knew what I had to go through in the hands of Leo after he found his real mate, and found out that I was only a replica of her. What I had to pass through when I received a life-threatening letter at the hospital telling me that if I stepped foot back into the pack, then that would be the last I would ever see of him because I would be dead. A message that sent fear crawling deep into my heart so I had to run for my life.

"It's life after all." Then I heaved deeply,

"With the help of my very good friend, I was able to return to school and further my education. I studied so hard, burning the midnight candles, and every day I had to look at my babies, I grew stronger. I told myself I wanted to give them the perfect life, one that they truly deserved with everything good. My babies gave me hope and made me realize that I was stronger..... and today..." I sniffled,

"Those three little devils are my everything. Because of them, I am where I am today, still fighting so hard to give them everything."

The ladies all began laughing and I joined them as well.

"What a touching story, Doctor Lena."

"You're such an amazing person doctor Lena." Another uttered, but their words just made me chuckle,

"Thank you all so much for coming today. It was such an honour to have you all here willing to listen to my story."

"We should be thanking you, doctor Lena, and your story is such a touching one." I rose to my feet and picked up my bag, getting ready to leave. As I got outside, I met Zoey still waiting for me. She rose, rushed towards me and hugged me tight.

"I'm sure you did pretty good."

I nodded my head and we began to head towards the car. The drive home wasn't so silent because Zoey and I had a lot to gist about. As I halted the car, I couldn't wait to go in and see my precious babies.

"Mommy."

"Mommy"

"Mommy."

My kids all called my name in unison as they ran to me, and I hugged them tight. "I missed you all so much. Now tell me kids, what did you all do today at school?"

I stared at Karla, my daughter, who had a gloomy look on her face, "what's wrong, baby? Did something happen at school?"

"We were bullied again today, Mommy. Everything thinks daddy ran away, and didn't want us."

"Oh goodness," I said, holding my daughter so close to me. My boys were really strong, but Karla wasn't. She was just as softhearted as I was, and I knew she got that from me. I couldn't blame her either,

"Come on baby, don't ever believe whatever anyone says about your Daddy, okay? What do I always tell you?"

"Daddy loves us so much." I heaved deeply and kissed her forehead even though I knew it was all a big lie. He abandoned them and called them bastards. "Let's go in."

As I got in with Zoey and the kids, I was stopped by one of the kids Nanny,

"What's wrong?"

"There's a letter for you ma'am."

I nodded my head and collected the letter, but immediately I saw the Moon Shadow Pack seal on the letter, my heart skipped a beat, and I immediately tucked the letter into my bag. "Zoey, take the kids upstairs; I'll be with you shortly," I said, trying not to panic so my kids would suspect anything. Once they were gone, I took a seat on the two-seater sofa and brought out the letter. At first, I was reluctant to open the letter, but I did, and it read,

"Dear Doctor Lena Everhart, we hope this letter gets to you just in time. A great disease has befallen the pack, and so, as a result, Your attention and expertise are urgently needed in the Moon Shadow pack, with great benefits to come along with it. Please write back as soon as you get this letter. Thank you, and we hope to see you soon."

With a burning rage fueling Inside of me, I folded the letter and threw it into the dustbin, then I scoffed aloud,

Now he needs my help?

If there was one thing I was sure of, it was the fact that I would never offer any help to his pack, never!!
