Chapter 1 Sold: My past and present

Monica's POV

The sun had just set, few cars were passing through the lonely road. Crickets were creaking. My twin sister Anika and I were returning from school late because my dad had told Stephen, my elder brother not to pick us because he's going to do so himself which eventually didn't happen.

Being the weak one, I couldn't ride on my bicycle, so Anika had to climb down from her's to ride me. She was the stronger one, the braver one. We may look almost alike by having the same height, size, honey hair colour, blue eye shade, pink full lips,same shoe size, same face, braveness always differentiated us .

Surprisingly, we have been on the road for an hour. Anika is the one on foot and I'm on the bicycle. My parents later showed up in their car to pick us up but they ran to her first causing her to leave the bicycle handle while it's about to crash with me. Luckily, a boy carried me from the bicycle before it crashed. His face still remains a mystery to me till this day because he was pulled away from me before I got the chance to see or appreciate him leaving his back for me to see. I think I saw a crescent moon necklace on the floor as I was about to lift the bicycle. I wiped it on my dress then hung it on my bicycle. My dearest father suddenly saw me.

"What did you do? Monica,you crashed your sister's bicycle? You stupid girl " he curses pulling my ears while my Mom and Anika stood there to watch . We were young but they knew I was weak . Dad fears I didn't have a wolf and as the beta of Celestial moon Pack it was a disgrace. My mom pats Anika's head ignoring my teary eyes and trembling lips. I know it's safer to explain but I couldn't speak because I was weak.

"You're walking home . That's your punishment " the walk home was a few metres away and I didn't mind walking but watching them lead Anika to the car, buckle her up, enter the car and drive off finally had me in tears. I cried loudly that I feared the alpha of our pack might punish me for disturbing his sleep because werewolves had enhanced hearing. I had one unfortunately and I'm planning on keeping it to myself.

I stood still watching as the black SUV disappeared from my sight thus I wiped my eyes.I noticed the bicycle was still here .Thank Goddess.

Feeling grateful, I climbed the bicycle and drove home at a steady and slow pace . The boy from earlier crossed my mind as I saw the crescent moon necklace dangling on the handle of the bicycle. He might have forgotten it in a hurry cos I'm certain it meant something to him ; it wasn't a boy's kind of jewellery.

After the long winding road, I stopped at the front of our house to see black cars assembled outside our home. There were men on black suits and sunglasses too.They stood behind the cars like statues.

Scared and frightened, I didn't look much as I ran into the house to find out what's happening, but I didn't get far when a hand grabbed me. He had a slanted scar on his cheeks with a bandaid on his right eye. It was scary so I cried out hoping my parents would come to my aid.

Sure they came ; dad did. He had this smile on his face that depicted he was satisfied with my condition yet I cried for him, for anyone to help me cos I didn't know what was happening. I didn't know these people.

"She's all yours birdman. She's useless to me anyway" my heart sank when dad said so. what has he done? Where are they taking me ?. I cried bitterly reaching for him as they carried me to the car .

I Stuck my head out of the window begging and calling to him yet he stood there with a smiling face. Mom and Anika later came out of the house; I saw them from the rearview mirror tending to cry out but they wouldn't let me. The smile on their faces when he told them what has happened surprised me .

My heart sank , it ruined all hope I had left. I slump on the chair like a weak vegetable feeling betrayed, unloved and discarded. I was young but I could tell I wasn't going to see my family again. No more dad , mom , Stephen or Anika, it's just me now, who knows what they were going to do with me.

The tears came falling until It couldn't drop any more. My eyes were swollen from crying yet none of the stoic men offered a shoulder for me to cry on nor a word of consolation.

It was dead in the night by the time the car came to a stop. No, I didn't sleep, I couldn't, not after everything that has happened today.

Initially, I was led into the bunkhouse which turned out to be a training ground. There I saw girls my age wrestling against boys, grown ups fighting beast and vampires . I didn't know what got into me as I wanted to be like them; strong, fearless, valiant and brave.

One of the guys pushed me forward impatiently as I couldn't stop looking at the fighting rings in the bunker nor the numerous guns on the rack . I do not know why I am here but I wanted to learn. I wanted to be like them.

Eventually I met Cobra the owner of the organisation who said I was sold to him for fifteen million dollars; my worth to my family. My payment for being a disappointment. I have trained effortlessly since that day to be the woman I am today yet I was about to face them again.

Wondering why I'm telling you this, a message just got to me that I have been assigned to the celestial moon Pack so , I'm on my way to confirm it.

A doorman opens the door for me to step in, with his head low , another brings me a glass of bourbon just as I like it but I shooed him away cos I'm not here for a drink . Another takes my trench coat while I nod ready to meet the big men which only the best have the privilege to see. What can I say all those sleepless nights I had training paid off.

As I walk through the hallway, Cobra's men are lined up on both sides curtsied to me which I didn't bother to acknowledge because I am angry as it is . The door automatically opened before I turned the doorknob explaining the temerity of the situation. I fixed my jacket as I stepped in then removed my glasses from my eyes. Soon enough, I am standing in the room with the top men in the organisation.

" Monica Beaumont , have a seat" one of them says , I curtsied then took a seat at the farther end from him , I don't need to be told these were high ranking people in the supernatural world with the king second to them.

"What's my order?" I asked by pretending not to have heard of it, rebelling against them never get things done.

"Your mission is to kill Callian Sinclair , Alpha of the celestial moon pack before the year runs out. We know it's your former residence and you might be recognized so we came up with a plan. Here " He pushes an envelope to another man who then gives it to one of the valets to give to me.

I let my eyes skim their faces before accepting the paper , puffing out an exasperated breath , I opened the envelope to unveil the content. Behold, it has the picture of my former family except my dad of course. How did I know? It's because I killed him, that's a story for another day.

The folder entails photos of Anika, Stephen and a girl . The girl I assume to be Stephen's mate since she was included. My eyes linger on Anika's carbon copy photo a little longer before averting it to Stephens, it's annoying to know they were doing well without me. Anika looks exactly like me, strong, brave and beautiful. Only a few could tell the difference. The only man that can is dead; my father. Still, I don't understand why they are showing me this.

"I have seen them and so?" I asked, pushing It away from me. It irks me.

" This is the man we want you to kill" Another envelope is brought to me by another valet , he opens it this time before handing the photo to me one after the other . I'm not one to drool but he's the most handsome man I have ever seen and he's not wearing a suit. I think my heart skips at the sight of his photo. Quickly, I toss the paper to the side then take another and damn he looks more handsome and huge, he has his hair wrapped in a man bun in the photo I'm currently looking at.

"He's cute and looks dangerous. What's up with the tattoos and what has my sister got to do with this?" Being a straight talker I went straight to the point. It doesn't correlate, Am I missing a point?.

Photos of her and the alpha appear on the screen. Vividly displayed, Anika and the alpha are holding hands in one of the photos .Alpha Callian has his hands around her waist,in another photo . Staring at her smile at him, I could tell she feels for him alot . He may not show but I'm sure he loves her too.

"So? Where are you guys going with this?" A huge man stands up with the remote in his hands, round the table then stands in front of the screen.

"This is Anika Sinclair, Luna of celestial moon Pack, mate of Alpha Sinclair. Your twin sister. As you can see,she's a grown woman; a beautiful werewolf who looks exactly like you . We have received reports that she's out of the country so, you have now till next the end of the Year to complete the mission " he finished still staring at the couples on the screen. I don't understand, did he just say I should impersonate my twin sister Anika?
