Chapter 6 Incapable of love

A duel? Is this how the Alpha punishes his Luna and what's my offense? Confused I step forward but he raises his hands to stop me there.

" Callian, what have I done wrong?" He's in front of me within seconds growling at me: his Luna. Doesn't he feel the sparks? As if that isn't enough, the hair on my arms stands up as he came closer until he was breathing on my face. This isn't the first time I'm feeling this way, I feel this kind of connection and sensation whenever he's close. I think I can feel my wolf too.

Do I even have one?

" I'm talking to you as an Alpha. You're fighting Savannah. Go and get ready" he says a little softer this time. His eyes are golden. Do I affect him as well? He takes a step back with a furrowed brow and I think I heard him grunt like he's controlling his wolf from taking over. After the battle with his wolf which I assumed he won, he turns to me with a frown.

" And if I win?" I asked with my chin up. I don't know who Savannah is but I'm so going to kick her butt.

" No. You'll lose. You always lose. Isn't that why you're scared right now?" He challenges and I think I like him. Oops. I don't mean that but he's given. Not to be too smug, I twitched my lips and then curtsied.

" And if I win? " I ask again a little serious this time. He scoffs, takes a look at me from my head to my toes then from my toes to my head, and brings a hand on my chin. I gasp as his hands make contact with my skin, a strong electrifying spark surges through me, the force so strong that I almost lost my footing. He squints his eyes as well then quickly removes his hands from my chin as if my skin burns him.

Stunned, he looks at his hands and steps away from me with a scowl on his face.

" what do I get if I win Alpha?" Oh. I'm enjoying this. I may not know what's happening to me but I think he does and I'm not going to ask cos I want to get this done as soon as possible. What better way than to impress him? He quickly recovers from the impediment. The scowl on his face becomes vivid.

" Don't gloat Ann" he says angrily like he's expecting me to go down on my knees to beg. Isn't Anika his Luna,? Or is he doing her a favor by letting her believe she is one?

" Try me, Callian. It's time I put Savannah in her place" he chuckles with pity in his eyes. Now, I'm eager to see this Savannah bitch.

" Your call" he adds trailing to his seat still staring at me when he had taken his seat.

" Leave" I hear a growl from him and I assume it's his wolf. He cracks his neck locking his gaze on mine and I find myself lost in his golden eyes. Swallowing the lump in my throat, I take a step closer subconsciously then two until I'm in front of him within seconds. He's tapping his fingers on the armrest as he watches me then he growls, suddenly on his feet.

" I said get out" he snapped bringing me back from wherever my mind is. I shake my head and quickly scurry out of the room confused. This isn't supposed to happen? Why am I feeling this way? He has a mate, Anika is his mate but Stephen just said Anika rejected her mate to be with Callian.

I'm wolfless, I know I am. I have tried to communicate with my wolf for years now yet she didn't resurface and all of a sudden, she's awakening? I have to leave before things get messy. I have to complete the mission. A private jet isn't the right place to make my first move but I need a plan.

Yeah, I got one.

" How did it go?" Stephen asks. He's leaning on the wall. I thought he left. Loyal puppy I guess.

" As you predicted Beta. He said I'm fighting Savannah" his eyes widened to hear me mention her name. There's pity in them like he's scared for me.

" Again? What did you say to him? I have told you to always control yourself in front of him. He's under a lot of pressure right now. He can't deal with your failure right now. Go and apologize Annie" disappointed, I shrug and then hiss.

" That attitude won't get you anywhere and definitely not his heart" I squint my eyes at him, and he frowns almost gritting his teeth.

" Go and apologize to him, Annie, "

" Don't you mean Luna? I deserve some respect Beta. I'm your Luna. Callian's chosen mate. The earlier you accept it, the better for you" he stepped back a little giving me a chance to glance at the mark on his neck. He'd completed the mating with his mate and I haven't seen any on Callan yet.

" Don't forget how you got here. The things you have done to get here. Power drives people crazy. Did I lose you, Annie? " Let's think about our retort carefully to avoid Stephen blowing my cover before I can even make a move. So, I nod as if I have come to my senses.

" When will he love me back? When will he want me for me not because he's horny? It's depressing Stephen" he sighs reaching for me but I stay rooted in my spot.

" Callian isn't capable of love. You know this. Everyone knows this. Be patient with him. You can't back down now. If you must fight Savannah, I'll talk to her just like last time " hmmm. What's going on? Why is Anika ruining her life to be a Luna? It's obvious he doesn't love her and who on earth isn't capable of love? As broken as I was, I fell for someone. He might have died but I did love him.

" I can handle Savannah. It's time we get this over with"

" Okay, what else did he say? " I pass him a glare then he chuckled opting to walk me to my room.

" You're doing well. Dad and Mom will be proud of you" My heart skips at the mention of them. One I had killed and the other, I haven't seen for ages and I just learned she died. I almost forgot how the mate bond works. Mom must have died after she learned dad was dead. I guess she didn't survive the pain of his loss.

" You think? " He hums curling his hands on mine that I can't help but stare at him. The sting in my heart intensifies at the thought of knowing they really forgot about me. My family erased me from existence.

" I know so. You have done well Annie. Hang in there. You're the most lovable person I know. Callian can never replace you. He needs you, the pack needs you. He knows that. Trust me baby sister" short of words, I removed my hand from his, and walk a little farther from him. Coming here is going to ruin me. Being around your brother but can't tell him who you kinda suck. It's heartbreaking.

And what does he mean by Callian needs Anika?
