Alice woke up the next day and stretched her body. She has cried herself out yesterday evening and have given up on herself not until an idea creep into her mind.

She grabbed her phone and scrolled through her missed calls.

Charles won't stopped calling her.

She decided to call him back.

"Hi, Charles!

"Hello, Alice.

How are you doing?

"I'm not doing fine and I'm thinking if we could meet up today".

"You will meet me? Charles asked with excitement.

"Yes, I will". Alice responded

"Let's meet this evening. I will surely find some time". He said over the phone.

"I will call you back in the evening". She responded and ended the call.

She is not sure if what she is going to do ...will work but she have to give it a trial.

She walked over to her bathroom and had her bath, dressed up and walked out of her room.

She met Becky in the sitting room sitting on the laps of a guy and kissing each other.

Normally, she would have ignored them but the day she tried such thing with her ex boyfriend. Her parents nearly killed her.

"Such audacity! She said while Becky looked up.

"Are you referring to me?". She asked while her boyfriend adjust himself on his seat.

"Yes, if not you, then who will it be?".

"You dared not, Alice ".

"You are such a funny teenage girl.

How old are you in the first place?

Is this the time for a guy?

You have a SAT examination to prepare for?

You have a future ahead of you.

What is really your problem?

Where are our parents?

"Look for them outside.

You better start preparing for your wedding and stopped monitoring me around.

"Is this your sister that you always talked about?". Becky's boyfriend asked.

"She is the one".

"She is not looking bad, though". Max complimented.

"Excuse me, Max, Are you okay?

I'm here and you are admiring my sister! Becky shouted at Max.

"I'm sorry, babe.

I'm just admiring her". Max tried to caution her but Becky walked out in anger.

Alice laughed out hard while Max run after his girlfriend.

Alice sat on the chair when a car stopped at the front of the building.

Alice mother walked out of the car with some bags.

Alice left her seat to assist her mother while they both walked into the sitting room.

"Bring those bags closer, I need to unpack the clothes there". She instructed while she Alice brought it closer.

She start removing different clothes and shoes from the bag.

"Alice, you've gotten a generous and rich husband for yourself.

He called me up this morning and sent me some money for the clothes.

It was huge!! And I can't stopped thanking him. Alice, I don't want you to lose this opportunity. Every young lady is praying to have Derek as a husband.

You should be happy and not sad.

Imagine him sending me some money this morning.

He want us to start preparing for your wedding next week".

"My wedding!.

It's too early for all of this.

Mum, I don't like that man".

"No one gets to like the person they get married to_ in the first place.

Don't worry, you will like each other as time goes on.

I will soon leave for more shopping and I've called my friend to assist me.

So, how are these clothes? She asked raising the clothes up but Alice is not interested.

"Whether you like it or not.

You are going with that man.

I will leave now.

When you're done packing the clothes inside. Go inside the kitchen and prepare a meal.

I'm hungry and will like to eat when I'm back". She said and left while Alice sadly packed the clothes inside.

She walked to the kitchen to prepare some meal and went back to her room.

She dialled Amanda's number and narrates everything that happened in Derek's house to her.

They talked for a while before she ended the call.

In the evening.

Charles close earlier from work.

He dropped his big scissors and changed into his normal cloth.

He approached the gate and the gatekeeper opened the big gate for the three trucks that were outside.

He wondered what is in the trucks that entered the compound.

He is employed as a gardener there and didn't have the idea of what the company produced.

The buildings is always surrounded with bodyguards and he has never set his eyes on the chairman of the company.

He signed out loud and walked out of the building.

He sent an address to Alice phone and headed towards the place.

He ordered for a plate of sandwhich with a bottle of soda while waiting for Alice.

After waiting for 30minutes.

Alice arrived in a comfy outfit with a black shoe. She look cool and Charles complimented her look while she responded with a "Thank you".

"What should I offer you?

Should I call the waiter?".

"I'm okay". Alice responding brushing back the strands of hair that is dangling in front of her forehead.

"You can't be okay.

I must offer you something ". He said standing up.

"Okay, water is okay?". She responded while Charles went to get a bottle of chilled water.

He sat opposite her and opened the cap of the bottle.

Alice collected it and take some gulp of water.

"What we are here for, is about my life. She said dropping the bottle on the table.

"Your life?

"Yes, my life.

You see, my life is in danger and I'm trying to escape from it".

"How is your life in anger?

Who is after your life?".

"Charles, I don't know.

You are the only person that I can trust with my life.

My friend couldn't handle the situation on ground because she is a lady but I know that a man like you can handle what I'm facing right away.

"What is that?". Charles asked with keen interest.

"I'm sorry for asking you this favour.

Can I stay with you?

I mean, I'm getting married next week to someone that I did not love.

I'm thinking of escaping before that day but where would I get to, if I have no where to go.

I can't stay with my friend because my father will found out about it.

I need someone away from my family.

I'm sorry for asking you this favour, Charles.

Would you accommodate me?".

"I'm sorry, you're getting married!

I mean, you have a boyfriend?

"He is not my boyfriend and I will NEVER marry him".

"Then, how come that you're getting married to him?".

"It's a long story".

"Then make it short".

"Okay, fine.

I will tell you everything.

You see, my parents are trying to give me away to a total stranger because they owed him some money.

It's huge and we couldn't afford it.

In return, my parents promised to give me away to him".

"But, who does that in the century that we are in. It's bullshit!

"He is someone influential.

We can't go against him because of our financial capacity".

"Someone influential!

Let's defame him and report him on the net.

I mean, troll him online!

"Who will believe us?

He is quite popular and influential! She responded looking downward.

"Please can I know who this person is?".

"He is Derek".

"Derek?

He's married already and also had a mistress.

It was rumoured that he have a mistress.

So, what's going on?

Is he not satisfied with the women he had in his life!. Charles asked with an angry tone.

"I don't know!

I'm just tired!

"Derek is an influential man.

This is a serious issue".

"That Is the reason why I said that_you are the only person that can help me.

Charles, I'm getting married to this man In the next few days and I want to elope from my parents home. I want you to save me from this! Alice pleaded holding Charles hand.

"Hope Derek won't come for me with everything? I really wanted to help you, Alice. I want to help you because I like you and you've been giving me attitude all these while. I don't know?

"Would you help me? Alice asked starring into Charles eyes while he nodded his head.

"Thank you, dear.

I just don't know, I'm comfortable speaking with you".

"Would you take anything now?" Charles asked

"A coffee". She responded while Charles went to get her a cup of coffee.

She gulped down the content and smile at Charles.

"Since the day is running out, can we stroll around?". He asked while Alice nodded her head.

He held her hand and they both walked towards the entrance of the restaurant when Derek approached the door.
