Chapter 4 APPLICATION ACCEPTED

Mrs. McDonald took another extra hour to prepare her daughter favorite's dessert. Though the McDonald family was not well off, they prioritized their children's well-being. Mrs. McDonald served the food after she was done performing her magic.

Mackenzie's mouth watered when she saw how fantasizing the food was. She couldn't wait to dig in and have every last bite of the food served to her. Mackenzie dug in immediately without waiting for anyone. She hadn't eaten anything since yesterday afternoon.

While she took in another spoonful of the delicious desserts, she decided to tell her parents about her application. She knew telling them would give them another hope.

"Mom, Dad, do you know about the Rodriguez Empire?"

Mr and Mrs. McDonald nodded, everyone knew about the company and they should know also.

"I have submitted my application, hopefully, I will get a job this time around."

Mrs. McDonald supported, "Of course, you are going to knock it down at once. This is going to be your lady application into any company."

"I hope so," Mr. McDonald said plainly, he didn't want to give his daughter any false hope. Because with the look of things, it doesn't look like their daughter would be getting a job anytime soon.

Mackenzie was not hurt because of her father's response, she knew that he already tried his best. So she would be understanding enough and not hold anything against him.

After the sumptuous breakfast/lunch, Mackezie retreated to her room. While Mr. McDonald left home in search of money, they had to survive anyhow. Mackenzie's brother was still at school studying, and very soon he would come home to demand money to pay his school fees and to get his necessities. Those were their two kids and they don't want any of them to feel inferior to the other, that's why they will keep working day and night to provide for them.

RODRIGUEZ EMPIRE

Ethan was in his room looking at the load of applications that had been sent to his email. There was a spot left vacant, and they only needed one person to qualify for that position. So his Assistant had done a thorough look at everyone's profile and sent the application of those that do not qualify for the position to Ethan. Ethan would be in charge of the position those would be given.

Ethan sat in his chair and indulged himself in looking at the profile of each person. He had piles of reports to look through after that, so he had to hurry with the application review.

Ethan only took a glance at some of the profiles and knew immediately that most of it was trash. He rejected some while he put some in the position of cleaners, they needed more cleaners because he saw some of the corners in his company that were left dirty. Some would be in charge of transferring files to each department so that the employees wouldn't have to always move around by themselves.

Ethan was only left with one application to review when A call entered. He started at the caller ID for a while before he picked it up.

"Speak up," he ordered.

A muffle came from the other end of the call, with each passing moment, Ethan's expression changed. It was a call from his doctor giving him reports about his health. Ethan didn't expect his health to have improved so drastically. First was the touch from five years ago and second was the touch from yesterday. Who are those women? Are they the same?

After the doctor reported about his health status, he hung up the call.

Ethan knew that he had to search for those two women, but he had been searching for the lady for five years but he got no news about her.

"The one from yesterday should be easier to get," he said to himself. The problem at hand was that he did not know the woman he slept with. He just acted on impulse, he didn't know that there would be an improvement in his health status.

He calmly called himself out of his thoughts, sensing the responsibility he had ahead of him. There was only one application left for him to go through but his eyes were glued on the profile. The CV of the lady was more than qualified for the vacant post. What had his assistant sent to him? He picked up his phone and dialed his assistant's number but there was no response. Ethan assumed that he must be busy with something else.

His eyes stayed glued on the profile, and he doesn't know why the woman looked awfully familiar though he doesn't know where he might have seen her from.

After a while his assistant called back, and Ethan saw no need to ask him the question anymore.

"I want to personally conduct the interview tomorrow, I have sent back the applications of those people to me. I've written a review, and I have specified the area that they would be good at, so you should conduct their interview separately from the ones with you already. Make sure the email gets to everyone today to come in for the interview tomorrow."

Ethan said everything in one go, his assistant was puzzled. This was the first time Ethanjad requested to conduct the interview himself, he knew that something must have caught his interest.

Before Ethan forgot, he sent an email to the profile before he closed his laptop to continue with his work.

Back at the McDonald's Residence.

Mackenzie just woke up from her dreamland, she was looking so cute and innocent. She checked the time and realized that time had gone, it was 6 pm. She had nothing to do, so she picked up her laptop to watch a movie. That had become her daily routine. She wakes up every day, eats, and goes back to sleep. When she woke up she would watch a movie, eat dinner, and then watch a movie till late at night. It was only when she had an interview that she would sleep early.

She sighed and opened her laptop, immediately the laptop underwent the cold booting, and a notification popped up.

She was curious because the name of the sender did not show up. She clicked on the notification which in turn roomed her to the Rodriguez Empire.

'Hello there! This is from the Rodriguez Empire. This is to tell you that your application has been accepted and you are allowed to come in for an interview tomorrow!'

Mackenzie read out the email out loud with excitement. She dropped the laptop and jumped on the bed happily. What? Rodriguez's Empire was the least she ever thought of. What does the future have in store for her? She had to wait to get the answer to that tomorrow.
