She shook her head as she found it unbelievable that she did such a thing. She knew her parents would be embarrassed and disappointed in her. But it wasn't a wrong thing, maybe people had messed themselves up before they left high school.
She suddenly remembered that her parents were still home. She looked at the unfamiliar environment and stood up in a hurry. She noticed the man's back facing her. She bit her lip because she could only see his face. She wished she could at least know the man that took her heart gut somewhere at the corner of her heart, she felt it was right not to know it.
She quickly gets dressed trying to shake off the discomfort and embarrassment. How would she walk up like this? She was limping from the rigorous activity 9f the previous night. Just the thought of it made her blush hard.
As she made her way home in a cab, she knew that she would have to face her parents eventually. But how would she answer them? They had been calling her phone nonstop the night before, and she knew that they would be worried sick.
They Knew that their daughter was not like that. She wouldn't stay out without calling them or informing them earlier on.
When she arrived home, her parents were waiting for her in the living room.
"Where have you been, Mackenzie?" her mother asked, her voice firm but worried. Mackenzie couldn't bring herself to explain to them, she just shook her head and ran to her room. She locked the door behind her at the right time before her father entered. She wouldn't be able to refute talking to her father.
Tears streamed down her face as she lay in bed. She couldn't bear the thought of facing her parents or anyone else right now. All she wanted to do was hide and try to forget the night before. But she knew she couldn't avoid the consequences of her actions forever.
She would have to face her parents eventually and deal with the repercussions of her impulsive decision. For now, though, she just wanted to hide and try to process everything that had happened. She pulled the covers over her head and let the tears flow, unsure of what the future held.
As she lay there, she thought about the man and what had happened between them. She had never felt so vulnerable and exposed before. She didn't know what to make of her feelings or how to move forward. All she knew was that she needed time to figure things out and come to terms with her actions.
She quickly rushed to the bathroom because she felt dirty. She soaked herself in the bathtub, it was like she had sinned against her parents. The worst thing about it was that they didn't use protection. What if she gets pregnant? How will she face society? What will her parents think of her?
But she just knew she had to get that thought off her mind. She still had many things ahead of her that she had to plan for. She needed to look for a job as quickly as possible so that she could live away from her parents. That way she would feel less guilty.
She quickly took her bath and she got out of the bathroom to get dressed. She jumped onto the bed and picked up her laptop. She was searching for the list of profitable businesses in the city. Just then, the name Rodriguez Empire popped up. Everyone knows that the company is one of the top businesses in the city. Everyone wishes to work there, but most of them are not qualified for the job.
What if I don't get accepted? She questioned herself. She had been to many companies for an interview but none had accepted her. This made her doubt her ability, but she made up her mind and took the step to apply. She wrote a short application, but she had some deep words written there. She stated her job and other necessary things. She hoped she would just get a job this time around. Even if it is not in her area, she would still earn immensely from the company.
Little does she know that she has something ahead of her.
Her stomach grumbled, reminding her that she hadn't had anything since morning. She needed to take something in it. She knew her parents would still be waiting for her. She took a deep breath and decided to face her parents. She could just make up a lie in the meantime until she's able to get away from them.
She opened the door and stepped out confidently. It's only when she sneaks they will know something is wrong. She walked to the kitchen confidently, her mother was in the kitchen cooking. Mackenzie hugged her from behind.
Mrs. McDonald was surprised to see her daughter relating freely with her now.
She smiled because she liked the connection between them. "Hey, I'm making breakfast already. You can have a glass of milk till I'm done."
"Mom, I'm no more a baby," Mackenzie pouted and poured herself a glass of milk.
Mrs. McDonald watched as she gulped down her milk.
"You see, I'm a good girl," Mackenzie said with a wide grin on her face.
"Okay, okay, now excuse me. I need to cook, I won't be able to concentrate with you around."
Mackenzie rolled her eyes and left the kitchen, she wanted her mother to do her magic quickly. She was so famished, after Mackenzie left Mrs. McDonald's eyes lingered on her daughter and she shook her head.
