Chapter 5 Five

Six years later

Maya's pov

"Mommy! Why are you not dressed yet? The wedding is in few minutes!" Tristan yelled as he entered my room.

"Calm down tiger. I will be ready soon," I said with a chuckle. He didn't seemed satisfied, crossing his arms across his chest.

"You are not dressed. My dad is dressed already and I am too. We shouldn't be late," he insisted.

"Give me few minutes, I will be downstairs," I assured him. "Okay, we are waiting," he said, leaving the room.

I smiled at his energy, my heart swelled with love for my son. It had been five years of happiness and bliss in my life.

After relocating to London, Ethan was everything to Zoe and me. He gave us the best things we needed. I gave birth to Tristan and he was there for me.

Our time spent together made us fall deeply in love. He was the sweetest man so I decided to get married to him. He proposed and we made it official a year later.

I didn't regret marrying him for a single day. My life changed because of him, I was now a well known model, earning thousands of dollars for modelling gigs.

Ethan brought me into the business through his modelling agency. Zoe on the other hand had been doing good for herself. She now owned a restaurant and she was getting married to Ethan's best friend, Alex.

I wore my stunning red dress, which had a slit to the thigh. I had done my makeup so I just finished with some final touches then slipped on my heels and left the room.

Ethan stood in the living room, looking up at me as I walked downstairs. I saw the unwavering love in his eyes.

"Hey babe," he said with a smile.

"How are you?" I asked. "I'm good. You look stunning, people might mistake you for the bride," he teased.

I laughed at his comment, feeling butterflies in my stomach. "Thank you dear, but do you think my dress is too much? I don't want to take the spotlight away from Zoe," I said.

"No, I was just joking. You look simple yet elegant. You can't take the spotlight away from her," he assured me and I felt a sense of relief.

"Where's Tristan?" I asked. "He went to his room to get his phone," he replied. I shook my head. "At his age, I didn't even get to use a phone. We are spoiling this child," I complained.

"Spoiling you say? We have money, babe. What's the essence of it if we don't take care of our son? He deserves everything in the world," Ethan said.

My heart warmed as he called Tristan our son. "You are such a sweetheart and I love you so much," I whispered. His mouth curved into a smile and he wrapped his arms around my waist.

"I love you too, honey. I love you so much, my wife," he whispered back, as we locked gazes. My heart skipped a beat at the closeness between us.

If not for the wedding, I would have allowed him to take me right there. "Eeww, don't kiss in front of me please," Tristan's voice interrupted us.

I stepped away from Ethan and shot him a playful glare. "You are just five yet you behave like you are fifteen," I complained with a groan.

Tristan placed his hand on his hips, laughing. "That's because I'm so smart, mom. Your son is the smartest kid in the world just like my daddy," he said.

"Exactly my boy. Don't mind your mom, I love you this way," Ethan ruffled his hair with a laugh.

"Let's be on our way now, we can't be late to our best friends' wedding," I said and we all left the house.

Zoe's face lit up when she saw me. She looked breathtaking in her white gown and I was genuinely happy for her.

"Hey babe! Congratulations on your wedding today," I said, giving her a warm hug.

"Thank you, Maya. All this happened because of you and Ethan. I'm forever grateful," she said, her voice laced with appreciation.

"You are welcome. Where is your husband?" I asked with a wink and she giggled.

"He went to talk with his parents. They like me, Maya. I was so scared at first but they actually accepted me," she replied with excitement.

"I told you they would. You are a sweet soul, Zoe," I said. "Everyone gather round to celebrate the latest couple in town," the MC's voice echoed through the hall.

"You have to go now," I whispered. She took in a deep breath. "I'm so nervous, what if something goes wrong?" She panicked.

"Nothing will go wrong. Today is your wedding day so be positive," I assured her, fixing her hair back in place.

She nodded, and we exchanged hugs again. "It's time to welcome the bride and the groom to exchange vows," the MC said.

Alex, her husband joined us where we stood. He seemed nervous as well and I understood why. I was once in their shoes, I was restless on my wedding day too.

"Hi Maya," he said with a smile. "Hey Alex. Congratulations on your day today," I replied, smiling back.

"We have to go now," he said to zoe, offering his arm. Zoe took his arm, and they walked down the aisle together. I returned to my seat beside Ethan.

Ethan placed his hand on mine and we exchanged smile before turning our attention to the new couples. "Do you, Zoe accpet Alex to be your lawful husband?" The Mc asked.

"Yes, I do," she replied. "Do you, Alex accept Zoe to be your lawful wife?" He asked.

"Yes, I do," Alex replied. "I now pronounce you as husband and wife!" the MC declared.

The room erupted in applause and cheers. I beamed with pride and happiness for my dear friend.

We joined the newlyweds for photos, laughing and joking together. Tristan played with the wedding favors, his energy infectious.

"Congratulations, my dear friend. May your marriage be filled with love and happiness," I said to Zoe as I hugged her tightly.

She smiled, tears shining in her eyes. "Thank you, Maya. You've been an incredible friend."

The night ended with smiles, hugs and promises of new beginnings.
