Chapter 3 Three

Maya's POV

"Ah! I found his office on Instagram," Zoe said loudly, breaking the silence.

I groaned, feeling tired from all the crying yesterday. My eyes were puffy, and my head ached.

Zoe walked towards me, holding my hand and pulling me up. "You have to be positive, Maya. Everything will be fine," she said, her voice reassuring.

"Thank you for your support," I appreciated, forcing a smile.

"You are my best friend, and I would do anything for you. Now, get up and get dressed," Zoe said, her tone firm but gentle.

"Do I have to go now?" I whined, stalling.

"Stop acting like a fucking kid. You are expecting a baby, woman. The earlier you tell him, the better for you," she advised, her words striking a chord.

I took a deep breath, preparing myself for the confrontation. I couldn't put it off any longer.

"Okay," I muttered, walking to the bathroom.

I took my bath, trying to shake off the anxiety. I got dressed in a nice outfit, a black pencil skirt and a shirt. A little makeup helped me look more presentable and mature.

"You look good," Zoe complimented me.

"Thank you, but I'm so nervous. He said he doesn't want to see me again that morning," I said, my heart racing at the thought of his stone-cold face.

"Nothing will happen. I'm sure he would accept your child. It's different when a child is involved now. Or do you want me to come with you?" Zoe offered.

I shook my head, not wanting to bother her. She had been covering my shift, working double time, which I knew was stressful.

"You should relax, please. I will be fine," I said. We exchanged hugs, and I left the house for David's office.

Boarding a taxi, I stared blankly at the blurred images as we drove by. This was my fate, it could be a blessing or my doom. The thought of raising this child alone scared me. I had no strength, physically or financially.

I prayed and hoped for the best as the taxi came to a halt in front of the building. I paid for my ride and stepped out of the car, taking a deep breath. The cool breeze did little to calm my racing heart.

"Good morning, madam," the receptionist said with a smile.

"Good morning. I'm here to see your boss, David," I said in a firm voice.

"Do you have an appointment with him?" She asked curiously.

"I don't have an appointment, but I'm his very close friend. Actually, I just came back from France and I'm here to surprise him with my presence," I lied.

The redhead receptionist chuckled. "That is so cute. My boss loves surprises. You use the elevator and press 5. His office is the first place you will see."

"Thank you so much," I smiled, following her directions.

My heart thumped in my chest as I stepped into the elevator. I wasn't settled, I could hear myself breathing.

Stepping out of the elevator, I came face-to-face with an office covered in glass. David sat on a chair while a woman sat on the couch.

I cleared my throat and stepped into his office. His eyes widened when he saw me. "What the fuck are you doing here?" David asked, his eyes blazing in anger.

I shivered but maintained composure.

The woman raised a curious brow, staring at me. My eyes cast downward, feeling small and intimidated.

"Who is she, babe?" She asked him. "Babe?" My heart broke at the term.

"I don't know her," David said, and my eyes widened. "Stop lying, you know me!" I yelled, feeling anger course through me.

"Babe, what's going on? Who is she?" The woman asked, her voice alarming.

"Tessy, just calm down and let me handle this," he said to her, his voice calm.

Then he turned to me, disgust in his eyes. "What the fuck do you want from me?" He demanded.

"I'm pregnant," I said, and everywhere became silent. "What did you say?" Tessy demanded, her voice laced with hurt.

"I'm pregnant for him. I'm carrying his baby," I repeated, my voice loud and clear. David laughed like I cracked a joke.

"You are joking. Please, leave my office," he said. I stood there, refusing to be defeated.

"You are cheating? David, are you for real? I left just for a day, and you got a woman pregnant. Our wedding is in four days, for goodness' sake!" His fiancée yelled.

"Baby, I'm sorry. I was drunk," he apologized. She ignored him and pushed me out of the way, leaving his office in anger.

"I'm carrying your baby. The sex we had that night led to a child," I said, my voice firm.

David walked towards me, his eyes cold. "Get the fuck out of my office, woman," he said, his voice demanding.

Tears welled in my eyes at his cruelty.

"What about our child?" I asked, my voice shaking.

"You are nothing but a disposable mistake. I don't know you, and I don't care," he spat.

His words cut deep into my soul, and I felt broken. "Why? Why would you do this to me? Don't run away from your responsibility," I challenged him.

He chuckled. "Take responsibility for a woman that opens her leg to every man she sees. You are a slut, and I want nothing to do with you," he said, clicking his tongue.

My chest tightened in pain. I wanted to scream and hit him.

"I'm getting married to the most beautiful woman ever. She is an actress, and I love her. So, don't think you have a chance in my life because of that thing in you," he continued.

He pushed me out of his office, and I fell to the ground. I cried, feeling like the world was coming to an end.

"Hey, what are you doing on the floor?" A voice pulled me out of my thoughts.

I struggled to look up, wincing in pain. A sharp pain shot through my head, and darkness consumed me. Everything went black.
