[Chapter 4]
I was laughing wickedly at my cousins because they were pouting in front of me. Serves them right-they teased me yesterday because I had class, and now it's my turn to laugh at them since they have four days of school. The entire Grade 12 class has no school today, so finally, I can relax!
"Well, guys, being a student is hard. But we deserve a break, especially since we're going to college soon." I flipped my hair and took a bite of my ice cream, closing my eyes to fully savor it.
"Tsk!" they all muttered at once. Poor things. It's okay, everyone, you'll catch up! Let's just study hard. We really need to study well, cousins, otherwise, we'll regret wasting the money spent on our education.
"Alright, you better get going. It's almost 8," I said, waving at them with a small smile.
I shook my head as I watched them leave the door and shrugged before continuing to enjoy my ice cream. I'm addicted to ice cream, and thankfully, my stomach doesn't get big. Some people's bellies bloat when they eat or drink cold things.
As for me, I digest food quickly. There's no way I'd let my belly grow! I'd only accept it if it's because I'm pregnant. I also want my future child to have a mix of races so they can have beautiful eyes.
"Gene, we're leaving now, okay? You're in charge of the house." Oh right, even Mom, Auntie, and Grandpa are leaving. Pretty much everyone's going out, so I'll be left here alone-well, with the household staff, of course.
"Take this, my dear, for your safety." I accepted what Grandpa handed me and slipped it into my back pocket.
"Okay," I smiled sweetly at them. Mom pinched my cheek before they left the house.
"Be careful here, Mady," Auntie said, and I nodded as they finally left. I heard the car honk as a sign they were heading out the gate.
Well, the house is mine! Hahahahahaha!
"Ma'am Mady? Is there anything else you'd like to eat?" Esa asked from behind me. I was sitting on the couch, watching a Korean drama on TV.
"Just a vegetable salad and carrot shake, Esa. I need to maintain my diet-I don't want to suddenly gain weight." I heard her laugh softly before she left.
A few minutes later, my food arrived, so I started eating. It took me a while to finish because of the show I was watching. It was about zombies, and my emotions were all over the place-screaming, crying, scared, angry, and more. It was even more thrilling because the maids had joined in watching.
"Behind you! Run, you idiot!" I yelled.
"Oh my goodness, these kids are raising my blood pressure! Run already!" shouted one of the older maids. Uh-oh, her BP is rising!
"Behind you! Stop turning around! See, you got bitten, idiot!" Esa shouted, and I had to suppress my laughter at their comments.
We finally finished the last episode, but they were still complaining about how stupid the characters were. I couldn't stop laughing at their remarks.
"Alright, I'll leave you guys for now. I'll be in my room," I told them as I went upstairs. Even as I climbed, they were still noisy downstairs. I just shook my head at them.
When I entered my room, I immediately lay down on my bed, opened my phone, and started reading on Wattpad. When I have nothing else to do, that's what I do-read Wattpad, watch shows, or read manhwa.
While I was absorbed in reading, I became alert when I heard a gunshot.
I knew it! Whenever someone is left alone at home, they always find a way to break in. I got up from my bed and grabbed the gun that Grandpa gave me earlier from my back pocket. Yes, Grandpa gave me a gun.
You see, Grandpa is running for mayor, and many people have their eyes on our family. Our family is powerful in this area, so many people are envious. Thank goodness we were raised knowing how to defend ourselves. Politics is in our blood, except for the women in our family. The men are more into it-I don't know why. Us women prefer business.
The surroundings went quiet for a moment until the gunshots came one after another. I knew that Judas' gang had entered.
I heard footsteps approaching my room, and it seemed like the person was trying to open all the doors. Just as I was about to open mine, the footsteps stopped.
And since we humans are naturally curious, I slowly opened the door just enough to peek out. I saw two people-one lying on the floor and the other standing, about to leave-until he turned and our eyes met.
His ocean-blue eyes locked with mine. I couldn't help but stare at his face, which wasn't covered by a mask or anything. He had a sharp nose, thick eyebrows that met, naturally red thin lips, and a perfect jawline. His wavy fringe haircut suited him perfectly. He looked like a mafia daddy!
"He's so handsome!!" I squealed, which seemed to surprise him. He took long strides towards me and covered my mouth, almost covering my whole face with his large hand.
"Shut up, young lady!" he said in a cold, firm voice, but I still felt giddy. Just then, I spotted a man running in the distance, so I lifted my hand with the gun and shot him-bullseye! Right in the forehead!
"Fuck!" the guy exclaimed in shock. Didn't he see that I had a gun? I grabbed his hand away from my mouth using both of my hands and faced him. His hand was heavy and veiny-yieee!
"So, you're Mr. Juan? You're so handsome, like an actor or model with that bad-boy Mafia boss vibe straight out of a book! And you even have a Russian accent. Who are you, really, huh?" I asked, my voice tinged with slight annoyance.
"Tsk!" he muttered, making my jaw drop. He didn't even bother answering my question and just left. So, he has an attitude, huh?
I shook my head and went back inside my room. Just as I was closing the door, someone covered my nose with a cloth. In shock, I inhaled a strange smell from the cloth, and everything went black as I lost consciousness.
I woke up to water being poured on my face, causing some to get into my nose.
I blinked to clear the water from my eyes because my hands were tied behind my back, making it impossible to wipe them. I lifted my head and glared at the man holding the bucket he had just dumped on my face.
"Good thing you're awake now, young lady," said the man sitting in front of me with his legs crossed. He was wearing a dirty white suit and holding a gun in his right hand.
"Of course, you woke me up," I rolled my eyes, but he only responded with a laugh.
"You really take after your grandfather. It's just unfortunate that he won't see his first grandchild," he laughed again, and I looked at him with disinterest. He seemed insane.
"Tss!" was all I could say in response to his craziness.
"You know, Sir Pebo, no matter what you do, you'll still lose. And even if you kill me, people will know it was you. Why? Because your dirty reputation is already well-known in the city, and you know that," I smiled at him, which earned me a slap. Worse, he used the gun, so I could feel the cut on my cheek.
"Don't dare me, young lady!" he barked before sitting down again.
"No one will know it was me who killed you. I have a plan, and I'll make sure I defeat your grandfather and eliminate all of you so that no one stands in my way of taking over!"
He grinned like a demon. I rolled my eyes again, now even more annoyed, especially with the man next to him still holding the bucket. If I ever get free, the two of them will regret it.
The old man signaled to the man next to him, who lit a cigarette and placed it in his mouth before blowing smoke in my face. The worst part? His breath smelled like a sewer!
"Yuck! What the fuck!" I shouted, disgusted by his actions. He just laughed, which irritated me even more.
"You know, young lady, no matter how much you beg or scream for help, no one can hear or find you here," he sneered, but I laughed so hard that I almost cried.
"You know, old man, you should stop this nonsense. You're already so senile," I said, laughing again.
"Shut up!"
"And why should I? You're being ridiculous. And besides, I already know where you brought me. Isn't this the same basement behind your house where you always take me whenever you kidnap me?" I burst out laughing again. I couldn't help it! This must be the third or fourth time he's kidnapped me, and by now, I'm just used to it. He always gets caught anyway. Poor guy is really getting old.
"You're wrong, young lady," he said, now the one laughing along with his lackey. I stopped, growing serious. What does he mean?
"What do you mean?" I asked, glaring at him. He smirked and rested his chin on his hand.
"You're not in the basement behind my house. You're in my house, HAHAHAHA!" He even high-fived his lackey, and they both burst into laughter again. If I weren't tied up, I'd smack them both for their stupidity. Now they're dragging me into their nonsense too, like children playing a game.
I decided to stop engaging with them because they seemed to enjoy their laughter too much. But they quickly stopped when there was an explosion, shaking the surroundings.
"How did they find out?"
See? He's an idiot. Of course, they found me because I'm right inside his house, not in some secret basement. I wouldn't be surprised if this place gets torn apart soon.
"Ugh! Why do they always find you?!" he yelled, looking at me while pulling at his hair in frustration.
"Because you're stupid," I said with a shrug, waiting for my rescue.
"Ughhh! Shut up! You, go check outside!" he ordered his lackey, but in his anger, he ended up punching the poor guy, who fell to the floor. Well, he sure can throw a punch.
Now he didn't have anyone left to send outside because of his own stupidity.
While I was still tied up and watching the old man pace back and forth, the door suddenly flew open, making me jump. Standing at the entrance was a tall, familiar man holding a gun. Before he could step forward, the old man rushed behind me, pressing his gun to my temple, making the newcomer stop in his tracks.
"Try anything, and this girl dies!" he shouted, but I wasn't scared. I trusted the man standing before me.
"Put that gun down, you old man, unless you want to dig your own grave." His cold, firm voice sent a chill down my spine, but it also made me feel relaxed. I knew I was safe with him here.
This is why I want to be babied by him! And be his baby, ackk!
We were in the middle of a crisis, yet he still managed to mess with my feelings. I hope I'm messing with his too, so that even when he sleeps, he won't forget about me.
He's so handsome! My jaw drops every time I see him in action. That's why I sometimes ignore him. But it's hard to ignore someone like him, even though he doesn't seem to pay attention to me.
Maybe I should punch him every day so that at least when he sees me, he'll feel something-although it'll probably just be anger and annoyance.
"Huh! You're funny, kid," the old man laughed, but before he could finish, my bodyguard swiftly aimed and shot his hand, causing him to drop the gun and cry out in pain.
I was in awe of my bodyguard. Since the old man was clearly defeated, I smirked, revealing that I had freed my hands from the rope a while ago. I clapped in admiration. He's so cool! Nice one, bodyguard!
He froze when he saw my untied hands, and I grinned, standing up to walk over to him. I seductively slid my hand across his chest, smirking.
"Let's go; I want some ice cream when we get home."
