Ava could testify that he was the ugliest man she had ever met, she had nicknamed him chic because he had always called her that

"For the last 3 days you've been working here you haven't gotten any better "

Tell me about it!! She wanted to say but her breathing was ragged and her eyes blurry.

"Let me help you with that "he kept talking and she let him, he carried the carton from her as though it was as light as feather. She sighed and sat on the floor, nothing had been going the way she had expected. The Warehouse was a long way from the company's main building, the possibility of seeing Santa in the middle of the day was more than seeing the CEO whose name she had learned was Ethan Walker. The name sounded familiar which felt strange to her because she didn't know anybody by that name. Elsa wasn't in her department so they hardly saw each other.

Vincent Walker sat in the huge sitting room watching the news on the equally huge TV, the headline read

DRUG TRAFFICKERS REPRIMANDED

The reporter's voice was high-pitched and clear with excitement and she gave the details of the news.

"We need to keep Ruby safe don't you think "

Loretta, Vincent's first daughter and Ethan's older aunt said coming into the sitting room, her red bottom heels clicked as she stepped on the polished marble floor.

"She's safe as long as we have Ethan " Vincent said in a cool voice, Loretta scoffed biting down on her red painted lips

"Ethan?, Ethan's been losing it"

"But he still tied to me "

"Cut the rope... He doesn't even want a part in this... Just... "

"Shut up " Vincent thundered and Loretta flinched, frightened

"Your late sister was the greatest asset I had but she lost it and I lost her... And Ethan, Ethan is going to fill that void whether he wants it or not"

"Father... Don't tell me what you're saying is... " She said tears stinging her eyes, her heart burned in rage

"It will be made official at the family dinner next weekend, if you're done here you can excuse yourself"

Loretta walked out spitting threats in every direction.

"Don't let them get to you Ethan is only a bud to be cut off "

Loretta coughed as she walked into the room. It was illuminated by a red florescent bulb, there was a girl lying naked on the bed

"Leave " She said as the girl hurriedly wore her clothes and exited the room

Loretta walked over and opened the windows, her brother who laid on the floor winced as light rays hit his face. She flinched startled

"You smell, you're dirty and drunk" She hissed annoyed that she made a fool out of herself by acting out of character. Her pride was her collected dignity, class and statue

"Go away, it's so early in the morning " He said

"No!... It's well passed noon you stupid!" She snapped

Michael grudgingly sat up, rubbing his face with his palm

"What do you want "

"What do I want? , Can't you get at least one good approval from your father? "

"Here we go again" he sighed

"No... This time there is serious trouble"

"What "he asked uninterested

"I think father will give Ruby to Ethan "Loretta breathed out

Michael stopped, turned and look that her. His eyes were not clear from the influence of the alcohol from the morning

"Didn't you see that coming "

"What??"

"You claim to be smart but you never think ahead big sister "

He staggered slowly towards her, she held her breath as he leaned closer.

"What do we do? "She asked turning away, he pulled her forward and held her hair whispering in her ears, she smiled slightly as she listened

"Here is what we are going to do... "

Bryant walked into Ethan's office, his eyebrows were furrowed and beads of sweat dangling between the frustrated lines on his head

"There is an issue "he said

Ethan looked up from the Rubik's cube he was messing around with

"I have an issue too... "

"This is more serious Ethan"Bryant cut in. Ethan paused

"What's wrong?"

"One of the workers passed out today at the warehouse"

"What" he said taken aback

"Luckily she's been resuscitated and is now receiving treatment at the health Bay "

"Not at the hospital? "

"It wasn't really serious"

Ethan furrowed his brows

"Then why do you look so troubled "

"She might sue us for overworking and hard labour"

"Compensate her evenly then "

"Not everyone wants to be compensated, I don't know why but I don't have a good feeling about this "Bryant said

Ethan smiled at him knowingly

"Someone might think you actually owned Eagle, you worry like a baby, it's fine. Send my sincere apologies to her "

Bryant nodded and was about to leave when an idea popped into his head

"She wouldn't want to go back to work at the warehouse "he said

Ethan raised his brow

"Just make sure to compensate how well "

He said stressing his point

"Or " Bryant said coming back, eyes shining brightly

"You can give her the job as your secretary "

Ethan paused

"You can't just make anyone work with me"

"You are the one in dire need of a secretary and I'm the one suffering as a result, this is the final and only way I can help you... So please accept it " Bryant said his voice dropping

Ethan knew that when he sounded that way there was no way he was going back

"It's not even business work just to grant you your wish " Bryant said walking out.

Would this woman be able to Grant me my wish?

She turned slowly and her eyes met a man looking down on her, he had blond hair and blue eyes
