My body was supposed to be stronger by now, but something seemed to be blocking my ability to regenerate quickly.
When I came to again, I was still alone in the bleak forest, but a familiar scent I couldn't recall enveloped me wafting from the warm, clean clothing on my body.
My body stung all over, I groaned struggling to get up on my hands and spying the large basket at my head.
Someone had been here, I frowned looking around and seeing no one in sight.
However, hope blossomed in my chest as I whimpered, unable to get my vocal to work properly.
"Apollo..." I gasped, tears pooling in my eyes as I tried to look around for him.
Perhaps he'd had a change of mind and was here to take me home.
Still trembling from the pain that wracked my body, I struggled to my feet stumbling off the mattress I'd been laid on.
Sunlight filtered weakly through the dense overhead canopy lightening my vision as I tried to look around for him.
"Apollo!" I yelled, coughing at the effort.
The sound of twigs snapping drew my attention and I spun around with a large grin on my face hoping to see that familiar face and head of long dirty blonde hair.
However, my smile quickly fell away when I saw someone else.
It was a woman, with short brown hair, brown eyes and a familiar smile.
She had on a ragged but clean dress except for the stains of grasses and mud on the hem.
"Gemma...you are awake..." she grinned at me moving closer towards me, lifting some logs of wood.
I backed away from her, finding her presence familiar yet very wary of her.
"Who...who are you?" I asked cautiously, causing her to stop.
"Gemma?" she frowned, her voice soft as she dumped the logs beside the mattress on the floor.
I backed away again, looking around for Apollo. Seeing no one, I scowled and turned to the woman.
Had she hurt him?
"It is I, Sri... don't you remember me at all Gemma?" she asked, her voice raw with emotion.
I shook my head warily watching the pretty woman that stood opposite me.
"Who are you? Where is he?" I snapped suddenly flailing my hands as I ran from one end of the open space to the other peering through the dense trees in search of Apollo.
He couldn't have possibly dumped me here in the forest with a stranger right?
"Apollo? Apollo?" I yelled out peering through under brushes, burrows and every other place for him.
"No, Gemma, he's gone. He rejected you," the stranger behind me cried out.
Her words stunned me into a stop. I stood still for a while, my eyes widening before whirling around to face her.
She was lying, and I spat it at her. There was no way Apollo would reject me. He'd promised to make me Luna and show me to his zetas and other pack members. He loves me.
Tears pooled in my eyes as I raised a finger and pointed it at her trembling.
"You lie. Alpha Apollo didn't reject me, and I'll prove it to you." I said with an eerie calm and then turned proceeding towards another part of the clearing yelling out Apollo's name.
"Apollo? Apollo, come on out, it's I, your love...Gemma. You promised to make me your Luna! Come out and let's..."
Tears rolled down my eyes when he didn't reply, and something... a broken part of me that was still in pain tried to make me see reasoning.
It was true, I broke down into a loud sob crumbling to my knees, my skirts bunching up around me.
He'd abandoned me...left me to die in the forest of despair and I didn't know why.
I whined into my arms sobbing brokenly when I felt the woman's arms around me my sobs echoing through the forest startling birds as i wailed.
"Apollo didn't leave me... he didn't." I wept, my voice turning soft as my sobbing decreased.
The strange woman cradled my head, smoothing her dainty yet, roughened hands down my hair.
"Hey, now. All will be fine. I'll keep you safe. You are not alone, my love, you have me." she cooed.
I sniffed, not knowing who this strangely familiar woman was, but feeling at peace in her arms my shattered mind still thinking of my Alpha.
When I'd calmed down enough, the woman lifted me into her arms with ease and brought me back to the mattress where she laid me.
I didn't struggle against her; too numb to do so as memories of my time with Apollo clouded my mind.
I could see his smile, feel his feathery, yet rough touch and perceived his scent as if he was still beside me.
Tears slipped out of my eyes onto the mattress as I laid motionlessly on it listening to the woman narrate what had happened to me.
APOLLO
I sat quietly in an armchair in my dimly lit room savoring the burning taste of the liquor as it sped down my throat waking my slipping consciousness.
My muscles tensed and my hand that gripped the glass of beer was taut, flexing occasionally as my knees twitched from time to time.
I fixed my gaze on a spot, my dark wavy hair falling around my sweat ridden forehead.
Thoughts swirled around in my mind, sometimes disorienting, and sometimes stabilized and I fought against the insanity that tried to consume me.
It was the result of the bond I'd broken between me and Gemma, that weak trash who'd tried to trick me.
I didn't move when the door to the room was pushed open with a creak and a waft of feminine scent; floral and sharp enveloped the room.
My wayward thoughts became calm at this scent and I raised my head towards the newcomer.
A slender lady dressed in a red silky dress that pooled around her bare feet in waves slowly walked in her chin length hair bobbing at her movement.
Her red painted lips moved and a seductive smile graced them.
"My lord," Her breathy voice called to my ears.
I curled my lips into a half smirk and raised my eyes, regarding her with my dark gaze filled with desire for her.
"Come here," I growled my fangs baring as I tried to contain my lust.
My wolf pawed within me urging me to mate with her. He also didn't want to suffer from insanity no matter how short it would be. My reputation was always foremost.
She was a healing balm to my wound and a light that would guide my path.
I'd hoped Gemma would be this, but she'd gone and it by being a trash. And she almost pulled me down, I would never forgive her for it.
Thank the goddess for this woman who'd decided to enlighten me. This was further proof that the prophecy was on my side and not on that of my weak brother.
She chuckled sultrily, the sound like music to my ears as she slowly walked towards me sitting astride my legs and straddling me.
Her face hovered above mine and I stared into the depths of her honeyed eyes getting entranced and lost in them.
"All in good time," she breathed as her lips claimed mine in a kiss.
I growled in the back of my throat and grabbed her soft butts squeezing them hard and pulling her harder against my erection.
She moaned, throwing her head back as I trailed kisses down her neck to the soft mounds of her fair breasts.
Her hands, calloused yet dainty, clutched in my hair when one of my hands traveled between her thighs upwards.
My lips found hers in a demanding kiss again as my fingers traced the band of her panties for a while before slipping in, creating a path through the short hair there towards her already soaking core.
My consciousness threatened to slip away from me again and my wolf growled restlessly.
"I am going to mate with you now," I growled at her, lifting her up by her butt with one arm and leading her towards the bed.
She chuckled slowly, purring and nipping at my ear as my other hand, still in her panties, played lightly with her clit.
Lowering her on the bed, she grinned lopsidedly up at me and pulled me down towards her by the collar her every action screaming seduction.
"I promise you this alpha, I'll lead you to your ultimate goal and assist you in raising up this pack to its peak glory," she murmured as my large hands tore away her dress leaving her naked and ready to mate.
I stared down at her, my eyes alight with a feral glow.
My redemption; my light.
