Chapter 9 Shocking Announcement

Vivian was embarrassed, she was still trying to calm her racing heart.

"this young lady here, Vivian Bowes, is my fiancée", Nicholas began, "we are getting married soon", taking Vivian hands to his lips then placing a soft kiss on it, everyone gasped, silence filled everywhere as the governor left the stage.

"Congratulations, to you both", Alex said breaking the silence, everyone else joined in congratulating them and clapping even though the news came as a sudden blow.

James came to the governor event only to find out that his good for nothing daughter is getting married to Nicholas, the man he has been trying to get a deal with, of not for his debts he would not have stoop so low to talk to a brat like Nicholas, but things are different now , he would use Vivian to get back his status and clear his debts. James adjusted himself and walked up to Vivian and Nicholas.

The hateful and jealous glare Vivian got from the ladies made Vivian nauseous, they were ladies who were far above her and would do anything to get to be the one in Nicholas arms.

Just when things were going smoothly, her father approached them, "congratulations dear.." he began, Vivian rolled her eyes and looked at Nicholas who had a disgust look.

" you could have told me that you were seeing each other".

with a smug look he turned to Nicholas " we are going to be family Soon, why don't we go ahead with the deal?, I'm sure Evelyn would be thrilled and would love to make arrangements for your wedding".

Vivian scoffed 'Is he stupid or just pretending not to know the relationship between Evelyn and I?'.

Nicholas laughed " I'm getting married to Vivian not you, didn't you disown her years ago?".

James jaw clenched, "that was in the past, she has proved her self, and no child would want to stay away from their parents for long, right Vivian dear?".

"The scene I witnessed at your anniversary says otherwise, I don't believe you, go away before you cause another scene, you are great at doing that".

"Then we can meet up and talk about the wedding plans", he said giving Vivian a discomforting smile then left.

"Is that old man your father?", Alex asked, "no offense", he corrected when Vivian nodded.

"No offense taken, he's less of a father to me", she said.

"Looks like your woman has gotten a lot of attention", Leonard whispered to Nicholas.

Nicholas jaw clenched, he noticed that after announcing their engagement, Vivian started getting a lot of attention, most especially from the men, he felt like gouging all the men eyes that stare at her, the reason he doesn't know why.

" I'm going to the rest room", Vivian said.

" I'll come with you"

Vivian paused, "I can take care of my self"

"I know that, shall we?", Nicholas said.

Leo stared at the duo, he wondered what brought the two together, definitely not love, at least he knows Nicholas is not they type to fall in love, or Maybe he was wrong.

"Alexander, Leonard, having a great time?", a beautiful young lady asked.

"How nice of you to ask, Veronica", Alex said dryly, Veronica rolled her eyes.

"Where's Nicholas?" she asked.

"With his wife off course", Leonard replied with a smirk, glad that the Leach has been disposed.

" Who's that bitch with him" she asked, gritting her teeth.

" Are you deaf or are you just plain stupid?" Alex asked.

"she shouldn't be with him, I'll kill her, make her regret ever taking Nicholas from me"

"Don't be ridiculous, Nicholas won't spare you"

"I don't care!", she yelled and walked away.

"Hey that the bitch that Nicholas is engaged to", a lady said in the rest room.

"I bet she seduced and got pregnant for him, she's not his type", another said laughing.

"so what is his type?", Vivian began, "you?, I bet Nick doesn't even know your name".

"so what, do you think you are better than us just because you are engaged to him", looking at the ring on Vivian's finger she continued, "that ring can pay your debts when you get thrown out, keep it well".

Vivian scoffed, " jealous looks good on you, stranger", she said and walked away.

" Nick huh", Nicholas said with a smirk, "were you eves dropping?", Nicholas shrugged, "you were wasting so much time there, and I just happen to over hear it"

" Looks like you are tired, let's get you home", "yeah I am, your admirers are exhausting, never knew you had this much", Vivian said groaning.

Nicholas laughed, the rumble of his deep voice made her aware of his presence, aware that his hands were on her back, sending weird messages to her body.

Vivian cleared her throat, "is it okay for you to leave just like that?".

" it's okay, let's get you to bed before you collapse, my dear wife to be".
