Chapter 3 Chapter 3 Let's Play a Game

"Uh-huh..." Vivian Swain's voice wobbled, "Mr. Handsome! You're so mean. You wouldn't even hug Vivian, and now you're calling me fool. I'm not fool, I'm adorable."

"Really?" Ethan cast a glance down at Vivian, "Well, we can put that to the test."

"Meanie!" Vivian pouted, lightly thumping Ethan's arm.

Annoyed, Ethan abruptly scooped Vivian up and strode into the bathroom.

"So, do you want me to help you take off your pants?" Ethan looked at Vivian.

"Yes!" Vivian giggled, "Mr. Handsome, You are so nice!"

"Are you sure?"

"Yes!" Vivian nodded emphatically.

Ethan frowned but extended his hand anyway. However, when it came to actually doing it, he just couldn't.

"Damn!" He cursed under his breath, when did he fall so low as to help a woman with her personal needs!

"Do it yourself, you can't possibly not know how to do this!"

"Don't leave!" Vivian grabbed Ethan's hand, her eyes welling up with tears, she said pitifully, "Vivian is scared, stay with me."

Then, Ethan heard the sound of running water. A woman, right in front of him!

Well, she's a fool, so he won't hold it against her. But he heard everything that happened in the bathroom last night while lying in bed.

"You're so silly,"

"Humph, Vivian is not silly!!!"

"Okay," Ethan changed his approach, "You're so cute, is it because you hit your head in my bathroom yesterday, or have you always been like this?"

"Of course, I've always been like this!" Vivian grinned, "Vivian has always been this cute."

"Oh?" Ethan squinted, she's always been foolish?

Before the car accident, Ethan had never met the young lady from the Swain family he was betrothed to. But he certainly hadn't heard she was a simpleton. Could it be... she was an imposter?

"Was the woman who brought you here yesterday your mother?" he asked.

Vivian nibbled at her fingers, deep in thought. "Sort of, but not really. She gives me candy, so I call her mom. She is my dad's wife, and he said he would be good to me."

"Oh? How many wives does your father have? Where is your real mother?"

Ethan peppered Vivian with a barrage of questions, to which she answered them all. With that, he had pieced together the whole story. Having learned the truth, Ethan scoffed inwardly. Howard Swain, that old fox, dared to fool him by sending a fool? What audacity!

Just as Ethan was about to ask Vivian another question, he turned to find her already asleep, a trace of drool on her lips, utterly defenseless. She truly was a fool.

Taking advantage of her slumber, Ethan quickly stepped out onto the balcony and made a call, ordering someone to verify Vivian's real identity.

By dawn, the results were in.

As it turned out, everything Vivian had said was true. She had been abandoned by Howard Swain in the countryside when she was a child. Poverty had robbed her of medical care, leaving her mentally impaired for decades. In this light, she too was a victim.

Looking at the beautiful sleeping face of this fool, Ethan suddenly felt a pang of pity for her.

...

The moment Vivian opened her eyes, she was greeted by a handsome face.

It must be said, Ethan was genuinely good-looking, entirely deserving of the "Mr. Handsome" title she had bestowed upon him the night before.

"Morning, Mr. Handsome," Vivian greeted Ethan with a smile, casually wiping away her drool.

Ethan sighed, bemoaning the fact that such a beautiful girl was unfortunately not quite right in the head.

"Let's play a game, little fool."

"Mr. Handsome, my name is Vivian."

"Alright, Vivian," Ethan reached underneath the pillow and took out the candies and toys Vivian had hidden there.

He threatened, "You can't tell anyone I've woken up, or that you've spoken with me, understand? If you do, I'll confiscate all these things."

"No, Mr. Handsome! Give them back to Vivian!"

Vivian reached out to grab the candy, but Ethan raised his hand higher. "Be a good girl, Vivian. As long as you play this little secret game with me, I'll give all these back to you."

"Okay!" For the sake of her candy and toys, Vivian agreed, "I won't tell anyone about Mr. Handsome."

"If anyone asks, tell them I've been sleeping all along."

"Okay! If anyone asks, I'll say Mr. Handsome has been sleeping, sleeping so soundly."

"Good, here you go!" A flicker of sympathy flashed through Ethan's eyes as he handed back all the candies and toys to Vivian.

Vivian was overjoyed, hugging Ethan's neck and planting a kiss on him, "Thanks, Mr. Handsome/ You're so nice, giving me candies."

Ethan was taken aback.

Did this woman just dare to kiss him?! She was bold!

But he didn't feel like arguing with a simpleton. Wouldn't that just make him look silly?

However, this simpleton seemed genuinely happy and even started unwrapping a candy to feed him.

But Ethan didn't like sweets and dodged it. Unexpectedly, his dodge made the candy fall into his pajamas.

"Ah, the candy fell!" Vivian quickly bent over to rummage through Ethan's clothes.

Ethan didn't like being touched, and his first instinct was to push her away. But considering she was a simpleton, he let it go, to avoid her making a scene.

Fortunately, Vivian quickly retrieved the candy and popped it into her mouth.

...

After breakfast, Ethan had his own matters to attend to.

Vivian went back to the playroom.

Once the door was closed, she quickly made a call to her grandmother in the countryside.

"Hello, grandma. I've checked Ethan's upper body today. He doesn't have any birthmarks. Are you sure that my cousin ended up in the Benton family?"

"I'm sure, Vivian. The child was definitely taken by the Benton family. This is the clue I've been investigating most of my life."

"Then I'll keep looking. There are several young people in the Benton family. If it's not Ethan, It could be someone else. Don't worry, grandma, I'll definitely help you find my cousin."

"Thank you, Vivian. You've had to endure marrying into the Benton family and being bullied by the Swain family for my, this old woman's sake."

"Grandma, not at all. This is the least I can do. Besides, I have my own business to handle this time. I won't let the pests of the Swain family off the hook!"
