Chapter 4 You Are Pregnant

Ellen's POV

It has been two weeks since I was jilted at the altar, two weeks since I had a one-night stand with a total stranger whose name I still didn't know.

This morning when I had been back from my morning jog, which was the only thing that helped me clear my head this time, I had fallen and sprained my ankle.

So, here I was at the hospital, lying on their bed and staring at the white ceiling. There was nothing serious about my sprained ankle but I just wanted to make sure I was okay because I had heard it crack when I fell, and the pain was unbearable without painkillers.

As I lay on the bed waiting for the doctor to come with the reports and ointments he would be prescribing, my mind slipped back to the night in the bar two weeks ago.

Somehow, the handsome stranger had ended up in his hotel room after that steamy kiss that got my entire sense of reasoning from me.

Immediately we walked in and he locked the door behind us, his hands were all over me burning with an intensity that made my skin prickle. We'd only met hours before, but the connection and impatience between us was palpable.

His fingers traced the curve of my waist, sending shivers down my spine. I couldn't look away, my gaze drawn to the chiseled lines of his face, the fullness of his lips and those eyes that gave nothing away but desire in that moment.

Then, without warning, he leaned in, his mouth claiming mine in another kiss that left me breathless. His hands roamed my body, tracing the curves of my hips, and the swell of my breasts.

"You don't know how much I've waited to do this since you stared into my eyes from a distance." He whispered into my ears sending shivers down my spine.

His voice!

There was something about it that always made me helpless and drunk.

"What exactly did you wait to do?" I finally got the courage to whisper back.

He gave an evil smile and I felt his fingers brush against my bare skin bringing out a gasp from me. He pulled back and looked into my eyes, and this time I saw something different. The promise of pleasure, the assurance that he would take my pain away, even if it was for a moment.

We moved together, our bodies entwined, as he finally laid me on the bed with him on top of me. His mouth claimed mine again as his tongue traced the curves of my lips.

I felt his fingers slide beneath my clothes then, teasing me, humbling me, and I knew I was lost. The world around me melted away, leaving only the thrum of our hearts, the rush of our breath, and the all-consuming fire of the passion he was offering.

His breath on my skin ignited a fire within me, and his fingers left trails of heat in their wake.

I arched into his touch, craving more, and he obliged, his hands roaming my body with a hunger that matched my own. Our lips parted one more time, and I gasped for air, my heart racing with anticipation.

Slowly, he began to undress me, his fingers tracing the curves of my body as he exposed my skin to the cool air. I felt vulnerable, exposed even, as he gazed at me with a desire that took away all the remaining decent thoughts in my head.

"It's okay. You don't have to feel that way. It's just the both of us, you know." He said winking.

And then, he was kissing me again, his mouth claiming mine and I relaxed in his arms. I felt so comfortable because it felt like he knew it was my first time having a man touch me.

Heaven knows, he knew all the right places to touch. He knew all the spots that took my worries away and so I opened up to him. I allowed him to make my body his, I let him worship my body in a way that pleased us both. I rode in sync with him and stored every bit of that moment in my memory knowing I would have to relish it to relieve my guilt when it was all over.

It was not just a casual one-night stand and I knew that when I woke up the next morning.

Even as I watched his back walking out on me that morning, even when he lingered at the door with his hands on the doorknob and his back towards me, I knew that I would not forget his face.

I was right, because every night since then, he visited my dreams, he eluded my thoughts even when I was doing important things and it felt like I had let him go with a part of me. The guilt I thought I would feel was nowhere to be found, the thought of him didn't even allow me to mourn the loss of my first love well.

"Miss Ellen?" The doctor called snapping me back to reality and I immediately blinked my eyes, realizing that I had been unconsciously rubbing on the necklace pendant in my hand.

The handsome stranger had forgotten his necklace in the heat of the night. It must've fallen out sometime during our intense moment and it was the first thing I had seen when I had finally gotten myself to stand up from the bed.

It wasn't the only thing I found.

However, the second thing wasn't a lost item. It was carefully wrapped with a name and message on it.

"Thanks for the night, Mi Lady..."

From Your One Night Stranger.

Money!

He had left a wrapped amount of money which was worth more than what I earned for a year put together.

"Miss Ellen?" The doctor called again and I sighed deeply and sat upright as I looked at the smiling doctor.

"Are you okay? Your cheeks are flushed." He asked observing them and I nodded no and immediately covered them with my palms.

I had been blushing at the thought of my steamy night. This was embarrassing!

"It must be cold." I stammered. "It's not a serious one, right?" I asked him, now referring to my ankle sprain and he nodded.

"Yes! It's just a minor sprain which I'll diagnose some ointments for you. Get it in the pharmacy on your way out." The doctor said and I nodded.

"Thanks, Doc," I said, sighing deeply as I made to stand up.

"One more thing, Miss Ellen." He stopped me and I paused and nodded.

"Okay?" I asked with my brows raised.

"Well, just to be sure you are okay generally, we did a full checkup on you to make sure your fall did not affect you in any way." He said and I nodded.

"So, is there some sort of internal bleeding?" I asked wide-eyed and he laughed and nodded no.

"No, ma'am. There's nothing of that sort but then the fetus is still intact. I thought to inform you in case you were worried about that." He added and my ears twitched in response.

"What foetus? Where?" I asked suspiciously and he smiled and pointed at my stomach.

"I figured out you might not know as well. So, I'm chipping it in so that you'll be more careful." He added but his information was not still clear.

"I still don't get it, Doctor," I said laughing, praying and hoping that I was not guessing right.

"You are two weeks pregnant, Miss Ellen." The doctor said and my heart skipped its beat for a second.

"Doctor, did you by any chance do my test with another person's own?" That was the first question I asked and he nodded no.

"No! I focused on my own first before any other, and... I did it on my own." He added and I nodded slowly.

" I see," I whispered.

"Though it is only two weeks old, it looks bigger than it is supposed to be, which is why I could not help but notice it." He added as I kept nodding.

"I can leave now, right?" I asked because the room was suddenly too hot for me.

"Sure!"

As I walked out of that hospital, it dawned on me that my handsome stranger had not just given me pleasure for one night but he had also left a part of him with me, one that would never be wiped off.
