Chapter 4: DELUSION

CHARLES

I couldn't stand Cole maltreating her any further, so I had to teach him a lesson for insulting my mate right in my presence.

I'm certain he didn't know I was Charles, Alpha Henry's first son. If not, he would have given me that respect.

I had no choice but to accept iris. Even when I wanted to reject her, I couldn't; my wolf urged me to accept her, which I did and the next thing she did was fall down. She fainted right in my presence before I could even say a word to her.

I understand she must have been so exhausted from everything that has happened. As a slave Omega, I bet , her life must have been a living hell.

I knelt down, then touched her pulse which was still responding. I touched her heart and it seemed to be breathing slowly. I felt so relieved knowing she was Safe

I placed her in my arms and took her home. When I got there,it was already late. There were two Gumma wolves at the border, which seemed to have been waiting for me. Because I didn't tell them I'll be staying out and when they didn't hear from me or see me coming, I'm certain they must have been hell worried.

"I'm sorry if I must have frightened you all." I apologise and instruct one of them to call the pack healer.

By the time I got to my house, the pack healer had already arrived at the gate, waiting for me.

"Please enter inside and check what's wrong with her."

I placed her in one of the guest rooms in my house and had the healer examine her to see what was wrong..

"She's fine. She's just exhausted from everything." the healer reported.

I exhaled a deep breath slowly, happy it wasn't something serious because I had begun to get scared.

When the pack healer left, I was left alone with her. Getting a better view of her for the first time, a smile crept onto my lips. On realising how breathless she seems while sleeping.

She was beautiful.

The rays of light reflected into her deep soulful brown eyes, framed by long dark lashes that seemed to whisper secretly with every blink. They sparkled with a mixture of innocence and curiosity.

Touching her face, I felt the texture of her soft ,rounded cheeks, with her cheekbones catching the light just right. Highlighting her gentle, soft skin.

I covered her with a duvet and walked away. My wolf begged me to spend the time with her in the same bed, but I couldn't. I had to maintain my honour and pride. She can take care of herself. Nothing will happen to her. I assured myself, opening the door and making my way out of the room.

Checking the time, it was already 10pm. I couldn't eat now except I'm ready for the outcome it might bring. I pulled off my clothes and went to shower, allowing myself to drown in water.

As the water dropped in my head rapidly, the memories of what had happened reflected back to me.

IRIS

I yawned loudly as I opened my eyes. My outstretched hand accidentally touched something, causing it to fall and break within a few seconds.

My heart sank in fear, realising how mad Luna Caroline will be when she finds out I had broken her lamp.

I waited for her presence anxiously, but surprisingly, she didn't show up. Maybe because she wasn't around. because the Caroline I knew would have come to check what fell down.

The softness of the bed brought awareness, the environment seems different and totally new. I noticed something strange_ the appearance of the room and the bed's softness all seemed quite luxurious, unlike the one I was sleeping with, in Alpha Carson house.

Maybe Luna Caroline took me to another room while I was asleep.

My doubts vanished when I came down from the bed and my eyes caught something. It was a framed picture of this man I had seen somewhere before. He was the man that had saved me yesterday.

There's no way!!

I held my mouth in shock, after remembering what was happening. I'm in different houses. Have I been kidnapped by this stranger I encountered last night?

Hy panic subsided when I realised he was my mate.

" What do you think about this situation, Arister? Don't you think this man had kidnapped us?"

I questioned my wolf, when I couldn't seem to comprehend anything that was happening.

"Relex, iris. He's our mate. I don't think he'll have evil intentions against you."

She confronted me although I was still doubting.

I made my way to the doorknob and opened it but surprisingly, it was locked.

"Now you see, the door isn't even open. He had locked the door to prevent us from escaping."

What was I even thinking? Do I really think that people are like me? I'm sure this Man who has brought me here has other intentions apart from accepting me as his mate.

"What if he later rejects us?" I yelled out in anger, knowing my wolf doesn't have the answer to my question. She could only confront me as usual.

If his intention isn't pure, then he would do whatever he chooses without anyone knowing. Imagine if he's a killer; I could end up dead at the hand of this stranger I called 'mate'

Springing into action, I started banging on the door, screaming for whoever 'is there to open it.

I banged at the door seven times before I began to hear footsteps. The footsteps seem to be coming in my direction.

"Mate!!" He was coming." My wolf hummed in excitement as I ran to hide behind the curtains.

I didn't want him to see me. What if he had evil intentions like Alpha Carson and his son, Cole?

With the sound of the opening door, I covered myself more with the curtains, hoping he wouldn't spot me immediately, but unfortunately , I knew that was impossible.

He was my mate and he can locate me by my scent.

And right there, he walked straight to where I was hiding and opened the curtains, seeing me square in the corner like a bird.

"Come out!!!"

He commanded, his tone not so pleasing. His ice hazel eyes sparkled with anger as it made me tremble in fear .

He was angry at me. But what have I done? Was it a crime for me to seek answers?

"Did you realise this is morning and some people might be sleeping? Why were you banging on the door like a madwoman?" He questioned with his hands fixed together.

"I....I don't understand what you mean sir!!" I stutter, his presence always making me tense and confused. Which I find annoying.

"How could I be so delusional that you could understand. When your brain is far from you?"

His tone had so much power and authority as usual, sending shivers through me as I found myself submitting to his words instead of disagreeing.

Even when the words seemed insultive, I couldn't reciprocate.

"Yes, sir. I'm really so sorry." I apologised, my head glued to the ground in modifications. I couldn't look him straight in the eyes. I couldn't stand the heat of it, knowing I might faint again if I did.

Just then, the memories of last night with him came to my mind_The scenes where I had fainted and felt him carrying me home.

I felt so embarrassed remembering what had happened and more provoked when I recalled Cole telling him things about me.

"Do you think I brought you here to kidnap you? I couldn't leave you there all alone last night, which was the reason why I brought you here."

He explained that I felt more ashamed. My thoughts didn't come to that in the first place.

"You're really dumber than I thought. What do I expect from an Omega like you anyway."

he spat out the unpleasant words I hate so much, and in anger,I held his hand, stopping his movement. I'm not going to allow him to look down on me any further. I'll question his reasons for doing this.

I never wanted to be a bother to anyone. So whoever found me low can do themselves a favour by rejecting me at first sight instead of keeping me and reminding me of my status every day, which I wouldn't want to hear.

"Pardon me for asking this question because I couldn't keep the thought to myself."

I apologise in advance , hoping he wouldn't get angry with this question I'm about to ask him, which might be challenging.

"Go on!!" His husky voice echoes in my ear and instead of concentrating, I found the voice to be soft and calming .

"If you truly despise a slave Omega like me of a low rank, then why did you choose to accept me in the first place?"

"Why accept someone you don't love or even plan to? For someone like you, it's easier. you could get any woman you want, be it a higher rank or a lower rank", I had to stop when I couldn't continue any more before I lost control.

I exhaled deeply and looked him in the eyes. Brushing off the negative thoughts that were running through my mind at the moment, as our gloom to each other. Not leaving each other's side.

"With due respect, please reject me now before it gets too late. I wouldn't want to be drawn to someone's mate or someone who can't be with me in the future."

"Did you accept me because you pitied me like the others?"
