Chapter 3: REJECTED AND ACCEPTED

Right in my presence, my father declared his intention for the next Alpha position.

He made a rule that whoever found his mate first, between me and my brother would be the next Alpha and the coronation will take place in five months as long as one of us found our mate.

Now I must say that's one of the most difficult tasks my father has given us. The first challenge he gave us was a war challenge to determine our strength and knowledge of handling things. At the end, I came out first and now this?

What if my junior brother found his mate before me? I'm twenty_two years old and I haven't found my mate yet. Sometimes I just feel like I have been cursed. Most people find their mate at the age of sixteen and eighteen , and here I am, over twenty.

Throughout the entire day, I was occupied with lots of thoughts and when the dusk was setting in, I decided to go for a walk. To cool my head before returning to the pack.

The moment I stepped into the forest, I began to perceive this alluring fragrance. It reached a point, where I had to stop to determine the direction of the scent.

Not quite long, I heard the scream of a female, which seemed to be coming from my left hand side. I quickly make a sharp turn and head towards that direction.

The scent I had perceived earlier seems to be coming from that direction because the more I take a step forward, the more my nostrils get filled up with this strawberry fragrance of this person.

"You have to run. Seems like whoever it is ,is our mate, " My wolf urged me and at the end, I ended up running to this person that was in danger.

And there she was,, my mate being accosted by a man who was pushing himself on her.

Instantly, my wolf boiled in anger. I felt my eyes changing to that red colour I feared. I ran towards him with great agility and smacked him over with my leg.

"Our mate!!" My wolf screamed out excitedly on seeing her. While looking at her, I spotted her gown which had been torn.

"Did he do This to you?" I questioned while wearing my jacket to cover.

She was looking all innocent and her eyes seemed to have been swallowed. Maybe from too much tears.

Glancing at her again, she looked familiar. Like someone I had seen somewhere.

"Come with me iris. It's late already. You can't just entertain a stranger that just came out of nowhere and be acting like your mate."

The guy who I had smacked down earlier, uttered. "IRIS!!" So her name is iris.

It finally occurs to me where I have seen her. I saw her the other day when I went to the crescent moon pack. She was a slave Omega in the crescent pack.

I was disappointed with her status. An omega?! How the hell could the moon goddess pair me with someone of a low rank?"

I backed away from her, unable to stand it.

"You can't just reject her at this point. She's our mate Charles. You need to accept her." My wolf advised.

"But can't you see her?" She's an omega. What would people think of me when they find out I got mated to a slave omega ?"

I retorted back at my wolf with a roar.

IRIS

I suddenly caught a cold when I saw him,

Shivering at his sight and the moment he touched me.

Even in the dim atmosphere, I could describe his stature. He's tall, probably over six feet,with a muscular body. His chest was broad, with short grey hair and ice hazel eyes that pierce deep into mine at the moment.

His touch on my skin made me hotter and feel better. My breast hardened as my panties soaked with some dirty thoughts running through my head.

And then, he was looking at me. His eyes roamed over my shallow bust, which he covered by draping his jacket over me.

His eyes were one of the cutest things I had ever seen. His present filled my nostrils, making me crave his touch, and when Cole called me by my name, he drifted away with a disappointed look, bewildered by me.

It was as if he knew me or had seen me before, which would be a bad thing if he really did know me.

My heart shattered at the thought of this. What if he rejects me? What if he doesn't want to get mated to someone like me?

I have been waiting for this opportunity and I can't have it destroyed right now. A groan escaped my mouth as I covered it immediately before it would pull his attention.

I wouldn't want him to know I'm about to cry over the rejection he's about to give me.

Sighting his movement, Cole leaned closer to my mate and held his hand.

"Where do you think you're going?" Cole questioned as he halted his footsteps and turned to look at him, while Cole gaze was fixed on mine.

*You see, iris, I told you this, didn't I? I told you no one will accept you the way you are. You're a nobody. You're a slave Omega, an outcast wolf who was abandoned by her own parents and was taken to the crescent moon pack out of pity. "

Tears flowed freely from my eyes as I tried to comprehend what was happening. My heart was pounding in my chest. My breath came so fast and loud that it could be Heard. I was gasping for air, Wishing this day wouldn't come.

I know I'm all that he called me, but he doesn't have to remind me of it.

"And of course, I ran to you when I heard you were leaving, offering you a chance you can never have. An opportunity for you to have someone in your life so you won't have to be alone forever because I know no one will accept you the way you are."

"Stop it ,Cole. You don't get to remind me of that! I bellowed at him as I wailed on the ground,my strength failing me. And any moment from now,I could pass out because I'm losing my sanity slowly and I won't be able to take it, if my mate rejected me.

"Give me your hands, Iris. and Let's get away from here. You deserve to be with someone that loves you."

Raising my head to look at him, I saw his hands stretch towards me. His eyes were filled with anticipation of my hands to reciprocate his.

Getting annoyed by his actions and behaviour, I stood up and slapped him hard across the face.

"Now this is the last disrespect and tolerance I will ever take from you."

I rasped at him with confidence this time. After realising that everything else has a reason, I don't need to cry if I get rejected by my mate who is currently looking at me with sympathy.

"Come with me, Iris!!" Cole grabbed my hand abusively like his father, and started dragging me.

"Let go off my mate!!!" a voice rasped in and on turning back , I saw it was him. My wolf giggled in excitement on hearing his voice.

"And what will you do if I don't let......?"

Before he could finish his statement, Cole received a punch on his Face and a blow to his stomach. Making me flush in surprise.

"I despite people that poke their noses in someone's business. I didn't even ask for your explanation to begin with!! Or your opinion about my mate.

He screeched at Cole with an Alpha voice that holds so much power and authority

"Now let's this be the last time I'll hear that you accost her Again." he rasped in at him again, his voice as powerful as a thunder, sending shivers to my spine.

A smile crept through my lips the moment Cole ran away in fear.

"Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate it." I thanked him with a smile, my body shivering before him. I caught his eyes on mine and looked away

Feeling the tension between us, I was tense and feeling awkward at the moment, so I turned to walk away, but felt his hands touching mine and he pulled me closer to him within a seconds, our bodies embracing each other.

My heart beat so loudly that I could hardly breathe. I was burning with desire for him. Burning inside as our bodies collide , which makes me feel calm and safe around Him. . My wolf surrendered in his broad chests, our eyes rotating on each other.

I breathed slowly as he smiled at me and petted my hair, I quaked at his touch over my hair. The silence between us was killing me.

I could faint from any movement from now on, so I pulled away when I could no longer handle the tension and heat of me being around him.

"Where have you been all those while? I have been looking for you? My dear mate."

Those were the last words I heard before fainting. Maybe because it felt like a dream. Perhaps I never had anyone stand up for me in a way he did today.

He was the Very fast person to stand up for me and accept me for who I am.

The very first person to call me mate.
