Greedy as he was, he wouldn't let anything stand in his way of inheriting the company completely-nothing and no one. He already had a name in the tech market, and taking over his grandfather's business was his priority, so he was willing to meet all his demands.
"Are you alright, Selena?" he asked, his voice rough, his whisper sending a shiver down Selena's spine.
Roman was a scoundrel, she knew that. When they first met, she had no idea how he really was, but now, after returning to square one, she knew well that he wasn't the gentleman he appeared to be. But that didn't diminish the physical attraction that had always existed between them since the marriage; it brought back a memory that filled her with anger and, at the same time, nostalgia.
"'Are you alright, Selena?'" Roman's rough voice filled the room as Selena quickly turned, pulling up the parts of her robe and covering her shoulders. "I know this change is very... sudden, but I hope you know you're welcome here."
The redhead smiled slightly, looking at her feet, still embarrassed. It had been two days since her father's accident, and the Campbell family was treating her like a princess. Roman himself was like a prince, trying to make everything as comfortable as possible for her.
"I would rather not be such a burden..." she whispered, biting her lower lip, still awkward. "I'm sorry."
As soon as she said this, Roman walked firmly towards her, his strides long, and within seconds, he closed the distance between them, sighing softly and touching her chin. Selena felt his fingers grip her chin and force her to look at him, and then she raised her face and stared at him for a few moments, so close that she could barely breathe. With all that closeness, Selena could smell the masculine, citrus-scented cologne he wore, his breath meeting her face.
She was so fragile, so starved for attention, that she felt her legs tremble and got lost for a moment according to that stunningly beautiful man in front of her.
"You don't bother me; don't think such things," Roman said, smiling at her slightly and trailing his fingers over Selena's soft skin, once again realizing how beautiful she was.
He didn't say anything more, just caressed her soft skin and enjoyed her delicious floral scent, trailing his hand down to her neck and pulling her closer. Sel didn't resist; she wanted to be near him, wanted to feel that someone was there for her in that difficult moment. She didn't think if it was right or if she was being a terrible person; she didn't think of anything.
Especially when Roman's warm lips touched hers in a slow, languid kiss that quickly became intense and full of passion. Her delicate hands sank into his black hair as she pulled him closer, gasping when Roman's firm hands grabbed her ass, and he lifted her up, making Sel wrap her legs around his waist and intensifying the kiss.
"Roman... I..." she tried to speak, pulling her lips away from his and trying to catch her breath.
But she couldn't keep her train of thought for long, especially when she felt his lips on her neck, trailing kisses up to her ear and biting the lobe, making her moan louder than she had planned.
"We don't need to think about anything now... Nothing but this," he whispered, kissing her again with more desire, more intensity.
Selena lost herself in his arms, in his kisses, feeling Roman's hands removing the robe that hid the marshal silk slip she was wearing that night. He was as involved as she was, maybe not in the same way, maybe not with the same intensity, but Roman desired her that night and many nights to come.
His firm hands traveled up Sel's thick thighs and reached her ass, now with no fabric in the way. He squeezed the soft skin and heard her moan again as she moved her hips toward the already prominent bulge in his pants, making him gasp with desire.
But before he could continue, before he could take her completely, the bedroom door flew open, startling them and making Selena hide behind Roman, completely embarrassed.
"Roman? What's going on here?" the blonde woman asked, covering her mouth with her hands and glaring at Selena with hatred...
That night, Selena discovered that Roman was a treacherous path, and falling for the charm of that man was any woman's undoing-and it was hers too.
"I'm fine, thank you," she said, placing her hands on his and turning her face slightly, looking into the dark depths of his eyes and swallowing hard. "I'm sorry about your brother."
