Chapter 4 unfamiliar room

Chapter 4

AMBROSS POV

"She doesn't have a fever, Gov," she said with a sigh of relief. "I told this kid not to work today. She's so stubborn." She added, causing my brows to furrow as I looked at her, hearing what she said.

"So you mean to say, she wasn't well even before she came in today?"

I only received a nod as a response.

"Then why the h*ll-" I restrained myself from finishing what I wanted to say, but I didn't let the opportunity pass to give her a menacing glare, enough to see her shiver in fear.

"Clear everyone from my sight, now," I ordered her softly but firmly. She quickly nodded before standing up and dispersing the crowd around us.

I carried the still-unconscious Eullah, with Mariz following me. When we reached the glass door of the Café, she quickly pushed it open for us to exit.

"Call my secretary, tell her to get my personal doctor to come to my condo. Now," I commanded her authoritatively as we walked through the parking lot.

Once I placed Eullah in the backseat, I had Mariz get in too. I then got into the driver's seat and wasted no time speeding off.

I adjusted the rearview mirror to check on Eullah. She was still unconscious, her pale face clearly showing signs of exhaustion.

"Mariz, do you have something to say?" I asked coldly as I continued to drive.

Mariz nodded and began to explain everything I needed to know.

By the time we arrived at my condo's parking lot, Mariz had just finished talking. I didn't let her follow me inside because I didn't want anyone entering my condo, especially if it was a woman I had no close ties to.

The moment I entered my unit, I immediately took Eullah to my room, laying her down to wait for the doctor I had called.

While waiting for my personal doctor to arrive, I couldn't help but gaze at Eullah's angelic face. Even with her pale lips, her beauty was still evident.

I gently caressed her innocent face, unable to suppress a wide smile as I thought about how I would finally have her, all thanks to Mariz.

"I told you, baby, you'll be in my hands this time," I whispered softly in her ear.

"Get those filthy hands off my student, Ambross! How gross of you." I quickly turned toward the door of my room when I heard Alonzo's loud voice as he entered.

I smirked, "She's just your student, but I have more rights to her than you, Alonzo, because she's mine," I retorted, making him shake his head. He walked straight over to where I had laid Eullah on the bed, checking her condition before turning to face me.

"Everything's normal with her. When she wakes up, just feed her immediately. She hasn't eaten, so I think that's one reason she collapsed. She also looks tired, so she needs some rest." I nodded and returned my attention to Eullah.

"There's nothing to worry about, Vergara. She's fine; she just needs to rest. And-" he looked at Eullah, then back at me before smiling, "you have good taste in women, dude. You don't know how much my other co-teachers compliment her. And she's a good actress, by the way. I didn't notice she wasn't in good shape earlier in my class because she still managed to finish my one-hundred-item exam in just fifteen minutes. And as expected, she got a perfect score." There was a tone of admiration in his voice that pleased me.

That's my girl, Alonzo.

"I'll go now. I don't want her to see me with you. Just call me if you need anything again, fvcker." I just nodded in response and tapped his shoulder.

I didn't walk him out because I knew he would refuse, so I just stayed by Eullah's side until she woke up.

I woke up in a soft bed in an unfamiliar room. Despite still feeling the pain in my head, I forced myself to get up, intending to leave. Just as I was about to exit, the door opened, revealing Governor Vergara.

Wait, what is he doing here? Why is he here? And why am I here? Where exactly am I? Is this just a dream? Am I dreaming?

I discreetly pinched myself to check if what I was seeing was real or just a dream. When I felt pain, I realized everything I was seeing was real.

"Glad you're awake," he said with a smile.

As much as I wanted to lie back down on his soft bed, I quickly got up and stood straight. He looked at me, seemingly confused, with his thick eyebrows furrowed.

I felt embarrassed under his gaze, so I lowered my head to avoid it.

"I'm sorry, G-Gov. I'm sorry for causing you trouble. Don't worry, I'll leave now. Thank you for everything," I apologized. Just as I was about to walk past him, he swiftly grabbed my wrist, which startled me and made my heart race as if electricity flowed through me.

"Did I tell you to leave?" he asked sternly. Out of fear, I quickly shook my head in response.

"Go back," he commanded authoritatively, and I immediately obeyed.

I returned to his bed but remained still, keeping my gaze fixed on the floor. I didn't want to speak because I had no idea what to say.

"Eat this," he added, and I looked at what he had placed on the bed-a small table with a glass bowl full of sliced fruits and a plate of rice with pork steak on the side. My stomach growled as I remembered I hadn't eaten anything since morning because I went straight to the University.

"Is the food going to disappear if you keep staring at it?" he said bluntly, which made me frown.

I picked up the spoon and fork and began devouring the food on my plate.

While Governor Vergara was busy reading the newspaper on the sofa, I seized the opportunity to eat quickly since he wasn't watching me. I wanted to finish and get back to work as soon as possible.

"After you finish eating, take the paracetamol to ease your headache," he instructed. I took the paracetamol tablet from under the plate, but instead of swallowing it, I hesitated and stared at it.

"Are you going to take it, or should I make you take it myself?" he said, his voice making my heart race again-this time out of fear.

I looked into his eyes with a mix of fear and pleading.

"S-sorry, Gov, I-I'm allergic to this m-medicine," I stammered, showing him the paracetamol in my hand. I saw his eyes widen in shock before he quickly took the medicine from my hand.

"I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean to force you to take it. I didn't know you were allergic to this medicine," he apologized. I even heard him mutter a curse under his breath, but I chose to ignore it.

"It's okay. I didn't take it anyway," I reassured him.

He sighed, "Good thing you told me. I don't know what I would've done if something bad had happened to you." His face still showed concern, and his tone reflected it.

"Do you have any other medicine tha-" he started to say, but I cut him off.

"Just water, please," I replied with a brief smile.

"Are you sure?" he asked again, to which I nodded. I reached for the glass of water, thinking it was still full, but it was empty. I heard him chuckle softly, so I looked at him, but his expression quickly turned serious. He took the glass from my hand and left the room. I just shrugged, confused by his changing moods.

Weird.

A few moments later, the door opened again, and Gov returned with a glass full of water. I suddenly felt embarrassed because a governor was taking care of me, even though I wasn't anyone special to him.

He approached me and handed me the glass, which I quickly accepted and drank before shyly thanking him.

"Rest," he ordered, still with that authoritative tone.

"But Gov, I still need to return to work, and I've already rested," I explained as I tried to get off his bed, but he stopped me by holding both of my arms and gently laying me back down on the bed, which puzzled me.

"Rest. I already talked to Mariz," he said, mentioning my manager's name at the Café, which made me furrow my brows even more.

I tried to get up again, but he forced me back down, which annoyed me.

What's this governor's problem? Just because he's a governor doesn't mean I have to follow all his orders. He doesn't own my life, for his information.

"Stop being stubborn, Ms. Deviente, or else, I'll fire you!" he threatened. Fire me? Who the h*ll is he? Is he my boss?

My boss?

My eyes widened as I realized what he had said. Could he be my boss? Is he the owner of the Café where I work, which gives him the right to say that?

"I know what you're thinking. And yes, I am. So if I say rest, you rest. And stop making more excuses, 'cause they're not valid to me. You'll just waste your time," he emphasized.

"Get some rest. We will talk later when you wake up. I have a proposal for you that I'm sure will be a big help for your dad," he said, causing my eyes to widen even more. Other than my manager, I hadn't told anyone about my family's problems.

"G-gov, can you please tell me now what your proposal is?" I asked, but he shook his head with a smile, which made me frown.

"Rest first. We'll discuss it later. For now, you need to rest," he insisted.

I didn't say anything else. Instead, I followed his instruction to rest because I was too tired to argue with him, and my head was hurting even more. I closed my eyes and soon felt the warmth of a large blanket covering me.

A blanket? Gov is covering me with a blanket? But why? Why does he seem so concerned about me to do all this?

"What?! What kind of proposal is that?! Are you for real?!"
