Chapter 2 MY LIFE

Have you ever felt a little bit tired of life?

Like you are not happy,

But you don't want to die,

Like a numb little bug,

That's trying to survive.

..Em beihold.. (poem)

"That would be fifty bucks please", hazel said to the customer as he paid and collected his Ice cream, seeing that there was no one else on the line, she took a chair and slumped on it.

"Today is the day you leave the orphanage and yet you still came to work", a white boy with an average height, messy hair and glasses, he was putting on a red and white check shirt that he didn't tuck in his jeans, overall he had this nerdy look, his name was James.

" Like though your boss would even let me take a ten minutes break," Hazel said as she tied her hair into a ponytail, she had a long brown curly hair that matched the color of her hazel like eyes, her white skin as pure as snow, except from the few cuts she had from her various parts time jobs, her Rosy red lips was a bit charred due to the cold and hazel couldn't care less about it.

"Besides, I already packed all my bags this morning and I have no one to say goodbye to, it's not like the government is going to pay for all my expenses, they are only paying for a small room for me for a year, which I have to maintain in the remaining years to come, so i need my job" she said to the nerdy boy.

Hazel was an orphan and she had been living in an orphanage home, her parents died when she was eight, the investigator said they were killed by a bear or a fox or some sort of wild animal, they were right of course, but there was more to the story, hazel mother was an orphan, and her father had only on brother who moved to Africa after their death, he refused to take hazel with him, saying that she was a curse, and so hazel was dumped in the orphanage, but some time later her parents death kept repeating in her head which made her throw tantrums, there was a particular day every month specifically during full moon, hazel would feel excruciating pain in all parts of her body and she would scream and cause a fuss, so the orphanage had to put her in a psychiatric hospital, until a year and half when the doctors confirmed that she was now cured and they dropped her back in the orphanage.

Hazel off course hadn't been cured, she still had those nightmares scary visions and she still felt that excruciating pain every month and she never knew why, but she did know that no one cared for her and she had to be strong for herself, no one likes her in the orphanage, and she didn't really care, as much as she hated her life, for some reasons, she still wanted to live.

She was twelve when she met James, James was always on his own with a rocket or scientific stuff, other kids weren't really fond of him because he was, as they would say "boring" all his discussions were about science or some nerdy stuff, and kids at that age didn't care about them.

"You dropped this" young hazel Said to him and she picked up some tools from the ground, James was hiding behind a tree, crying silently.

"It's ok, I don't need it anymore", he said.

" Why?" Hazel asked, staring at him with her hazel like eyes which made the boy feel pressured to answer.

"I don't do nerdy stuff anymore."

"I think you are actually smart", hazel said, and tears poured down from his eyes, that was the nicest thing someone had ever said to him since his parents died, they died in a car accident.

Hazel walked forward and dropped the stuff beside him.

" They laugh at you because you are smarter than them, so they want you to feel like you are weird and stop being smart," hazel said as she scrutinized him and added "seems like their plan is working"

"Of course not" James said, hurriedly he cleaned his cheeks, picked up his toys and stood up, "who said I'm gonna quit being smart", he said sharply and a faint smile appeared in hazel face.

"Teach me how to make toys", she said plainly.

" Really?"James ' eyes beamed, "but why?" he questioned.

" I want to make money" Hazel said and James stared at her confused, but he ended up teaching her, they earned a lot of pocket money from selling the toys to rich kids. Hazel and James became very close, they were called weird nerds.

Hazel was a year older than James and James looked up to her like an elder sister, and he was very protective of her.

When Hazel turned sixteen, she already had three part Time jobs, she was always working and even provided little money for the orphanage. She didn't like the life she lived, nor did she feel like she was living, but for some reasons she wanted to live.

"Hazel, hazel" James called and she immediately snapped out of her thoughts.

'did you hear anything I just said"

"Huh?" she asked surprised

" I said it's already four, aren't you late for your part time job," he said and hazel eyes widened as she jumped from her sit and flinged the apron away,

"Help me park up", she yelled as she took her bag and ran out,her second part time job is at a bar, and it would take her extra ten minutes to get there by bus, she ran to the bus station and was lucky that the bus wasn't full yet she hopped in and took a seat, her heart beating loudly.

When she arrived at her job, her boss give her a disgusting look, he never liked the way she dressed, it didn't attract customers, she was always in big hoodies and baggy trousers looking like a boy when this was a bar, other girls wore mini skirts and bum shorts and attracted a lot of customers but she was always so plain, but he couldn't fire her because she was great at her work, the other girls would leave his shop messy but she would always clean up, but still, he didn't like her.
