After contemplating on whether to take the strange wolf home or not looking at the curious yet frightened pup, Diana decides that the moon goddess who blessed her with a female wolf not minding the strangeness of it must have had a reason for doing so.
With that in mind, one paw after the other with an extra carefulness, Diana readies herself to take the wolf only to get rejected. As Diana's wolf advanced by a step, the pup took two steps backwards kept withdrawing.
Diana only noticed the pup was extremely frightened and felt intimidated when she got into her defense mood. Seeing her arch her back, raise the fur alone her spine and bare her teeth at her, Diana paused to avoid further distrust and fear. Seeing Diana did not proceed to walk towards her, the pup kept that position for a bit before finally taking to her heels.
"Oh Dear!" Diana exclaimed before finally reverting into her human form.
It just occurred to her that the little fur baby might have been overwhelmed by the hugeness of her stature against the smallness of hers.
Not having her clothes nearby to shield her naked human body, Diana quickly resorted to making use of her the large strong leaf she could find nearby. With the act she learnt as a little girl, her hands quickly worked into connecting the leaves with its ropelike vine to make herself a dress before proceeding to call out and look the pup.
After few minutes of looking around and not seeing her, Diana decided to call out and talk persuasively.
"Hello?" She called out and was responded by silence.
'Alright, let's take it slow.' She told herself, mentally preparing herself before continuing.
'An introduction should be wise right? That should have been the first thing I should have thought about?' She mentally scolded herself acting like a nervous father who just got to see his kid for the first time.
"My name is Diana and I am here to help you." She continued while standing at a place and making sure not to let her foot move an inch from where it was.
'It just seems crazy I have to converse with a pup this way? Can she completely understand me?' Diana doubted. Not that she could really figure out the actual age of the pup.
"Alright, let's do it this way. I'd sing for you. Okay?" Diana offered and not expecting a reply started singing, slowly and not to loud.
As if her voice had a calming effect, the grey furred pup popped her head out of one of the rocks there as if admiring Diana before advancing slowly in a torturous way that Diana's never-ending patience almost wore out.
Seeing the advancing pup, Diana could already see herself stroking the fur of the pup, feeding her, putting her to bed, telling her bedtime stories, having an intimate discussion with her as a grown up and others that kept repeatedly popping up as if set in a loop.
"Over here." She knelt stretching her right hand towards to pup, beckoning her to come while her left hand continuously tapped her lap.
"It's finally over." She muttered in relief and as if mediating over and again towards the advancing pup. One might think the words were that of assurance to the pop but the words were mostly meant for herself. An end to her 'obsession'.
With the pup now resting on her lap, Diana's delicate fingers went on a stroking journey to the grey fur with maximum affection while giving it time to relax and get used to her.
It took an hour but she didn't mind. With eyes slowly closing in sleep, the pup finally succumbed and after giving it sometime to go deep into its sleep, she carefully placed her on the less rocky ground. Noiselessly transforming to her wolf, Diana went in to pick the sleeping pup with her mouth but her eyes caught something she didn't see until that moment. It seemed like it just magically appeared from nowhere.
Eyeing the sleeping pup, she quietly scooted over to the homely decorated basket with plain and strange look flowers.
'Akira', was boldly and badly written on a plain white placard. Smiling in understanding, she looked back at the pup and mouthed the name, it sounded nice and simple.
Just when she was about to drop the placard, her eyes caught something else. The weird flowers weaved into strings of words seeking to be seen by peeking from beneath the basket. Now she needed to transform back to her human state.
Picking the basket and staring at the words, it read. 'Be kind to her.' And just as she was about to ponder on how this was made, a white rose flower with a calming scent appeared right under her nose.
Werewolves naturally feel threatened when they come in contact with sudden magic but Diana only felt at peace and in awe of the experience.
'It won't be easy, keep her safe.' The still wind of the cool weather whispered into her ears and she swore it was Selene, the moon goddess.
"I will." was her response to whatever entity whisper into her ear few minutes ago just in case it wasn't Selene.
Heart bursting with joy and sweet pleasure, body thrumming from excitement and mouth widened in an almost internal smile, she swirled towards the direction of the pup after picking the sweet scenting white rose flower in her hands only to find her missing from its spot.
"AKIRA!"
