Chapter 5 Please let me go

"Greetings, my kings." I greeted the king before taking a seat far from where he was seated. I sat down on the fifth chair, away from him.

He stared at me in amusement before chuckling.

"Moira, move closer; sit down here," he motions to the chair beside him.

"Your highness, I'm very comfortable here." I replied with my head down.

"Moira, don't test my patience; move closer now," he growled, and I knew that sound could be dangerous. I stood up gently, moving closer to the chair next to him.

~~~~
"Good," he murmured. The maids began to dish out our food. I stare at the food, not feeling myself. I don't even have any appetite to eat.
I felt like going home. I looked up from the table, and my eyes met with Leander's. We stared at each other for a minute before I broke eye contact.
The maids cleared the table immediately after we were done eating.
I was about to leave dinner for my room when Leander turned to my side.
"Huh... Moira I want you to know that I will never hurt you. I promise not to treat you badly. Anything you want, I'm ready to grant it; just ask." He says it in a gentle tone, surprisingly.
What is he saying? I should not be scared of him. I can't even get rid of the scene that happens on the day of that party. He killed a human, not an animal, for crying out loud.
"You said you were ready to grant my request?" I asked.
"Yes dear". He hummed
"I want to go home to meet my family." I requested.
"Apart from your freedom, I grant anything you want." He says this as he moves his face closer to mine.
"I don't want anything from you; all I want is for you to let me go." I stated it again.
"Never will I let you go. You are mine forever."
"What do you mean by that? I want to see my family, but is that too much? You took me forcefully from my parents. I don't belong to you or anybody, so let me go." Feeling frustrated, my blood starts to boil. I stand up from the dining table to leave.
"Moira, sit down now," he said in an authoritative tone. But instead of listening to him, I headed immediately to the main door. I'm going home, whether he likes it or not.
"Moira, get back here now," he growled behind me, trying to control himself. But I don't care; I kept on moving towards the entrance of the door. I didn't even know where the courage and boldness came from because I'm always reserved.
Before I knew what was happening, Leander appeared in front of me. I gasped in surprise. How did he do that? I looked up at him, my eyes wide open, almost popping out of their socket.
His eyes are already red with anger. What have I done? I moved back from him, as his eyes were screaming danger. As I take a step back, he takes another step forward.
I turned to run, and before I could move an inch, he grabbed me by my arm, throwing me against his shoulder.
"What are you doing?"" I struggled with him and hit my fist against his back, but all my efforts were in vain, as he didn't even flinch.
"Let me go." I cried out as he walked his way through the walkway where my room was, thinking he was going to drop me there. He passed my room and moved to the third room opposite mine. I was still struggling with him when my back landed on the soft bed.
"I can see you are very stubborn, and I will teach you a lesson, "he growled out in anger. I get up from the bed quickly, heading to the door. I tried to open the door, but it didn't open. I tried twisting the door knob once more, but it didn't open.
Turning around, he was right in front of me.
"I... please let me go," I stutter.
"Why are you so stubborn? I don't want to hurt you, but you keep pushing me against the wall, Moira," he said, staring directly into my eyes.
"You walked out on me and talked back at me. Two offenses committed at the same time. So tell me now, how should I punish you?" He questioned me, and his hand went up to my hair, tucking it behind my ear.
I stare at him in fright.
"We are getting married in two weeks. I want to get to do things legally with you," he said, still playing with my hair.
I was shocked at his announcement. I can never get married to this heartless man.
"Next two weeks?" I ask again.
He nods. "Yes, dear, I don't want to touch you till then, so don't provoke me to do what you won't or would like, perhaps.".
Touch me? What does that mean? I will not allow him to touch me. I'm not ready for this. I can't even imagine my life turning out like this. Just yesterday, I was with my parents, and now I'm in the palace, all in the name of what I can't even explain as going on the head.
The knock on the door woke me up.
"Who's it? Come in," I murmur grumpily.
"Good morning, lady Moira. It is time to take your bath," Ava says with a full smile on her face.
I stood up slowly from the bed.
Ava and Kay helped me bathe and dress up as usual.
I got to the dining hall to have my breakfast. Thank goodness Leander wasn't there. I ate my food in peace and went back to my room.
I lay on my bed. Not feeling sleepy, I got up from the bed and moved around the large room. Out of boredom, I move to my window to look at what is happening around the palace. My room was on the third floor of the palace. I could see literally almost everything in the palace.
Still observing the environment, I saw a carriage moving inside the palace. The carriage stopped, and a lady came out of it. With the way she's dressed and her look, one could easily tell she comes from a noble family. She walked inside the palace.
I was feeling tired already, so I decided to take a nap.
Later in the evening, a knock interrupted my time alone.
"Milady, the king seeks you," she said behind the door.
"Where is he?"
"He's in the living room," she replied before leaving.
'What does he want now?' I murmur to myself before reluctantly leaving my room for the living room.
Getting to the living room, I saw a woman, probably in her early forties.
Leander is seated on a throne. His gaze followed me as I walked in.
"This is the seamstress that will help with your wedding dress," he said.
"Good day, milady. I'm your personal seamstress. I will be taking your measurements.
"Alright," I replied to her.
(Third-person POV)
In the evening, everything seems quite quiet in the palace, which is unusual. It was time for dinner, and Moira went downstairs to the dining hall. She had made up her mind that she would not talk to Leander.
Getting to the dining hall, she saw Leander already seated. A lady on his right, in the same place, forced her to sit the other day. The lady was a vampire, and she was the same person I saw this morning coming out of the carriage.
She walked towards them and picked a seat beside the lady.
"Greetings, my king," Moira said before bowing.
"Oh, so she's the girl? The one you choose over me." The lady said it with a half-smile. Moira looked at her, confused. Leander, on the other side, ignores her.
"I've told you not to sit far from me, Moira," Leander said with a serious face before stretching his hand towards a seat on his left side. "Here". He order.
Since she had made up her mind not to talk to Leander, she didn't bother to argue with him. She stood up gently in the seat beside Leander.
"Leander is just a mere human, a pathetic and weak soul. She's not suitable for you. Leander, you are."
"Enough Lucy. She is your future and soon-to-be queen. You should learn to respect her.". He cut her off, looking at her sharply.
Lucy's eyes widen at the announcement. She's finding it difficult to digest what she just heard.
"You're like a sister to me, and I want that to be the relationship between us," he added, finally after a few minutes of silence.
The air around the dining room changed, and it was tensed all over the place. Even the maids were careful not to make any mistakes as they disheveled everyone's food. They all understand that the king is not in a good mood.
Everyone was eating quietly, and Thomas walked in towards them.
"Greetings, my king." He bows briefly before raising his head.
Leander only nodded at him in response before Thomas took a seat opposite Lucy.
Thomas happened to be the best friend to the king, so he has the privilege to dine and wine with the king.
While the maid was dishing his food, he noticed the awkwardness in the air.
"Is everything alright?" He asked.
"Sure," Lucy replied with a fake smile. Thomas stared at her for a few minutes before looking away. It's obvious he doesn't like the look, Lucy. In less than thirty minutes, the dinner was over, and everyone returned to their various rooms.
(Lucy Room)
Lucy could be seen pacing around her room. Lisa is also seated on the bed.
"Am I not good enough for him? He chose a mere and weak human over me." She said it with a straight face, still pacing around the room.
"I was also surprised when the king brought her into the palace."
Lucy looked back at her. She moved toward Lisa and sat beside her.
"Lisa, what am I going to do now?" Lucy and Lisa's gazes are still fixed on Lisa, who seems like she's in a thought.
Lisa and Lucy have always been friends, right from when Lucy started coming to the palace with her dad, the Duke of Windsor. Lucy's father is a close friend to the late King, who is the father of Leander. Even if Lucy doesn't treat Lisa well sometimes because of their status, Lisa still counts her as her friend.
"Huh, I have an idea. Why don't you seduce the king into sleeping with you? I mean, if you get pregnant, you will have a chance to be the queen. The king can't deny that," Lisa suggests.
"That's a good idea, but the king can't be seduced easily."
"You should try your best. You are close to the king, so you should be able to do that." Lisa encourages Lucy.
"Huh, I will give it a try. I hope it works."
"It will," Lisa said with a reassuring smile.
"I have to go now. I still have some work to do," Lisa says, standing up to leave.
