Chapter 5 The Gunpowder Plot

Emily found herself in the midst of chaos. Gunpowder-filled barrels lined the cellar beneath the House of Lords, and conspirators milled about, their faces lit only by flickering candles.

She spotted Thomas Percy, his eyes gleaming with determination. Emily knew she had to act fast.

As she approached Percy, a figure emerged from the shadows - Guy Fawkes, the plot's mastermind.

"Who are you?" Fawkes growled, his hand on the hilt of his sword.

Emily hesitated, unsure how much to reveal. "I'm... a messenger. Sent to warn you of a traitor in your midst."

Fawkes narrowed his eyes. "What do you mean?"

Emily took a deep breath. "Percy here is not who he claims to be. He's working against you."

Percy's face twisted in rage. "Lies!"

Fawkes turned to Percy. "Is this true?"

Emily saw her chance. "Yes, it's true. And if you don't stop him, he'll destroy everything you've worked for."

Fawkes hesitated, then nodded. "Take him."

Emily watched as Fawkes' men subdued Percy. She had altered the course of history.

But as she turned to leave, she saw a figure watching from the shadows - a figure she recognized.

The leader of the Order of the Black Clock.

Emily knew she had just made a powerful enemy.
