Chapter 5 Brianna's betrayal

"Taz, I think our conversations are getting dangerous, Spider suspects that some escorts are giving out his private information to clients, he will kill any escort that he suspects, I will beg you to reduce the number of times you book me, he's starting to get suspicious," Roxy warned him with a lot of fear in her voice.

Her fear was beginning to rub off on him, he was also getting scared of whoever Spider was but was still trying to put on a brave face,

"After tonight you can't book my services, at least not anytime soon, I'm sorry Taz."

"What about your number, don't you have a phone, I can call you from time to time, give me your number." Taz eagerly requested.

Roxy shook her head slowly, "I don't use one, I can only befriend and talk to the people who Spider approves of, that's why I don't use a phone." she replied slowly.

Taz sighed, "I understand.... So is this goodbye?" he asked.

"For now, yes, but don't worry, our paths will surely cross again," she said slowly.

Taz nodded slowly, as Roxy got up from the bed, she wanted to hug him but he looked so distraught as if he wanted to be left alone to be in his own world. So she let him be and started walking slowly to the door.

"Wait!" he called out, making her stop in her tracks. He got up and took an envelope from underneath his lamp, hurried to her side, and tucked it in her bra, "That's a gift from me to you." he said with a smile, she smiled back and patted the envelope, and said, "thank you"

Taz watched as she left and sighed feeling very sad and empty.

When Roxy got inside the car she looked out of the window and didn't talk to anyone, she was angry at them for how closely they were monitoring her and giving her no room for privacy and though she hated that, she couldn't blame them entirely. These were Spider's orders. Who were they to disobey him?

When they got back to the Spider Empire, he was standing in front of the house smoking some tobacco, Brianna and Roxy quickly stepped out and greeted him, he stared at Roxy with disdain.

"Roxy," he said and puffed out some smoke.

"Yes... yes, sir" Roxy fumbled.

I don't know what you have been doing to this new client of ours but he's earned us some good money this week. Well done." he commended her.

Roxy wanted to smile but she was sad that she wasn't going to see Taz again, she was doing it for his own safety but she was so hurt about it, "Thank you." she muttered while holding back her tears.

"Roxy, come with me," he said in a very calm but stern voice.

Roxy gave one last stare at Brianna and followed Spider into his den, she suspected that Brianna had been saying things to Spider but didn't know what exactly as she followed him in she knew something was definitely not right. She followed him as quickly as her tiny wobbly legs could take her and soon they were in his dark den, but he didn't stop, he went down the stairs that led to his basement and Roxy followed quietly.

He turned on a very old light switch and the room was suddenly dimly lit. There was a man seated on a chair with his hands tied behind his back, and lips taped, he looked bruised and worn out.

Roxy panicked when she saw the man, why had Spider brought her here?

"Roxy, are you seeing what happens to those who give information out and try to betray me?" He said with a cold look on his face.

Roxy gulped and nodded, Spider gave her a half smile and pointed a gun at the man, "I don't take betrayals well Roxy, if you're working with someone to betray me this is how you'll end up." He said and fired at the man.

Roxy was petrified at the sight, she gasped as tears started to flow down her cheeks.

"Are you planning on betraying me?" He said coldly and turned to Roxy who shook her head vigorously as her tears streamed down her face.

"No, I can never betray you." She cried.

"Are you sure? I heard you have been making plans with this new client. Is that a lie?" He asked.

"It's not accurate sir, he likes to talk when we're doing it, so I talk to him while we do it. I can never betray you sir." She cried.

He grabbed her neck and whispered in her ear. "The next time I hear you chit chatting with a client will be your last day alive." He threatened her and started walking up the stairs.

Roxy turned and stared at the dead man who was still tied up in his seat, and shivered with fear as she climbed up the stairs totally stricken with fear.

Brianna was in Spider's den waiting for her when she finally saw her come out from the basement.

"Brianna, accompany her back to her room, she looks very tired." Spider ordered.

"I will do that even if you don't tell me" Brianna responded, "let's go, Roxy" she said and led her out of the room.

Roxy's fear dissolved into anger and resentment as soon as they left the room. Brianna was the one spying on her and misinforming the boss and putting her in so much trouble.

As they walked down the corridors with Roxy trotting behind Brianna she said,

"I won't advise you to see that client again, I don't have a good feeling about him. He could be an investigator..." Brianna stopped in the corridor and suddenly turned to face Roxy and in a low voice she said . "Spider will kill you if you dare give out any information to anyone and not even the police can save you,"

"So it was you... you were the one who went around saying things to Spider!" Roxy yelled.

Brianna smiled, "was it so hard to tell? Of course it was me. And from now onwards you have to watch your back. I got my eyes on you."

Brianna warned her with a cold smile on her face.
