Chapter 4 Who is Spider

At work the following day Taz couldn't keep Roxy's words out of his mind, there wasn't a single job in the world that forbade people to have friends, even FBI agents had friends so why was Roxy an exception? It didn't sit well with him and being a neurosurgeon he had no idea how to investigate such cases, who could he ask for answers if not for Roxy herself? Or maybe Perry was a better option.

During his lunch at the hospital, he caught up with his friend at the cafeteria, Perry smiled the minute he set eyes on him.

"I can tell how great your night was, you are glowing," he whispered when Taz joined him at the table.

"That's a lie..." Taz replied but held back on his words when he remembered Roxy's stern caution. He didn't want to put his new friend in trouble,

"Perry, have you hired Roxy for a night before?" Taz asked curiously.

"Of course, why would I recommend something I haven't tried? Was she not as good as I hyped her up to be?"

"Oh, she was... the problem is that she doesn't make any conversations, and when you try to chat with her she doesn't respond, she only talks when she wants to get you in the mood," Taz commented.

Perry rolled his eyes at his friend, "Why are you trying to create conversations with an escort, this is an escort, not your wife. Roxy doesn't owe you any conversations."

"So I can't even ask, how she's doing or anything? Are all escorts like this?" Taz asked.

"Oh no, it's just because of who Roxy works for," Perry responded casually but Taz was disgusted by Perry's carefree attitude towards the whole matter he felt a basic right of a woman was being infringed on and Perry watched unconcerned.

"Who does she work for?"

Perry raised his eyebrows, his friend's ignorance amused him, "Haven't you heard of Spider? Famous underground drug lord. He's the leader of the Mafia group, Spider Empire, the mastermind behind the group, haven't you heard of him?" Perry asked.

Taz scrunched his face and shook his head, "What do they do?"

Perry sighed, Taz was just a nerd who knew nothing apart from his job and some current affairs,

"They are an underworld criminal organization, it's not a surprise you don't know them, you don't go anywhere in the first place. But please keep it professional with Roxy, if possible book another escort. Booking the same escort is a bad idea." he advised his friend.

"Why?"

"You may start building emotional attachments with them and that's not good, or safe especially if she's Spider's escort. If you want an escort who doesn't mind becoming friends with you, why not try another escort from another agency? It's too dangerous to get involved with Roxy, especially for a coward like you" Perry replied.

Taz was offended by Perry's statement, he was a reserved person with a good job that earned him 6 figures in a year, he liked to stay out of trouble and mind his business it didn't mean that he was a coward.

"I'm not trying to get involved with her, she's the..." he suddenly stopped.

He had wanted to tell him how Roxy was the only one who sat down for hours and listened to his countless stories about his late wife. It felt like therapy to him and that was why he wanted to see Roxy again and again. But he had been warned by her not to tell anyone about their chitchats. She mentioned something about how someone called Spider would kill her if he found out, so he kept quiet.

When he got home that evening from his shift, he tried to do a lot of research on Spider Empire but was only able to get a little information except that they were an underground organization that dealt with the sales and distribution of drugs and sometimes trafficked girls. It was a very notorious organization that even the police were afraid to deal with, it seemed to make sense why Roxy was afraid to go against the rules they had been laid out for her.

"Isn't this slavery? Which human being doesn't have friends? Every human deserves a life out of relationships and companionship." he kept saying to himself.

To find out more answers, he booked Roxy for the night again.

No different from any other night he cleaned up the house for the night, turned off the lights, lit the candles at the dining table, and sat down calmly to wait for Roxy.

Roxy arrived in a revealing dress and her mask, she walked towards Taz and sat on him, in a low seductive voice she said,

"Today Brianna and the driver are really spying on me, we need to do it or at least pretend that we are doing it, or else I am in big trouble," she whispered in his ear while running her hands through his hair.

"Are they suspecting anything fishy between us?" Taz asked as he carried her from the dining table to the couch he lay her down and bent over her.

"Yes, they are, if you want us to talk like we always do, carry me in your arms and send me up into your room," she suggested with a little moan to give the impression that something was actually going on.

Taz smiled and carried her from the couch, "As you wish darling." Taz muttered and lifted her up into his arms, he blew out the candles when he got near the dining table and carried Roxy up the stairs to his bedroom. He laid her gently on the bed and sat down.

Roxy sat up and moved close to him.

"Taz, why do you pay so much money just to have a chat with someone like me?" she asked slowly.

"Because you are the only one who listens, sometimes I just want to talk about my late wife but nobody wants to listen. They just tell me to move on but with you it's different, you actually listen and even ask questions and this helps me feel better."

Roxy smiled, this was her first client who saw her as something beyond a sex symbol and it made her feel good about herself.

"So Roxy, tell me who is Spider and why does he forbid you from having friends."

The smile disappeared from her face, as she began to sense a presence in the room, someone was definitely spying on them, she grabbed Taz and brought his lips closer to hers, in an attempt to kiss him, "Taz, I think we're being watched kiss me quickly." she whispered.
