Chapter 4

I changed into Dennis's clothes, tied my hair into a high ponytail, and stuck on a fake mustache before sneaking out the door.
Standing in front of the largest entertainment house in Aldoak, I couldn't help but grin mischievously, feeling a bit embarrassed by my own cheekiness.
As expected of Glamour, the moment I stepped inside, I was surrounded by a bevy of beautiful women.
I ordered a pot of wine and a plate of snacks in the main hall, quietly observing the scene.
These people might be useful for my future plans.
I felt a surge of pride, as if I could see gold ingots waving at me.
Just as I was about to leave, I spotted Dennis's servant on the second floor.
Aha! Caught you!
Disguised as a waiter, I brought in some tea and snacks.
Dennis lay on the couch, half-closed eyes, looking slightly tipsy with a faint blush on his cheeks.
A girl danced gracefully in front of him.
In the dim light, she wore a white gauzy dress, like a butterfly fluttering on the tip of one's heart.
Beautiful, truly beautiful!
The rich really know how to enjoy life.
I couldn't help but make a sound, picking up the tea and taking a few sips, then biting into a snack.
Too sweet, a bit cloying.
Dennis noticed my actions and was momentarily stunned, then belatedly asked, "Who are you? New here? Why do you look a bit like my wife..."
I covered his mouth.
No, you're mistaken.
Dennis, with his face flushed from the alcohol, looked at me with teary, aggrieved eyes as I covered his mouth. I couldn't resist.
I leaned down and gave him a kiss, planning to run away afterward.
Dennis grabbed my hand, his tone lewd, "Such tender skin, my lady. Stay with me tonight."
Ha, I knew it. The TV shows where women disguise themselves as men are unreliable.
He was drunk, not stupid. He could tell I was a woman at a glance and still had the mood to flirt.
Not a gentleman at all, deserves a slap.
I slapped him hard, knocking him out. Stupid man.
If I choose to be with you, it's my decision.
If you force yourself on me, it's unacceptable.

When you're unlucky, even the simplest things go wrong.
Just as I ran out of the entertainment house, I was knocked out.
I woke up tied up in this shabby storage shed.
Hungry and thirsty.
"Hey, hey, hey, anyone there? Can I get some food? Even a sip of water would do."
I shouted for a long time, but no one responded.
My mind raced, trying to figure out why I was tied up.
Until a woman wearing a veil appeared.
Should I call her stupid or just plain dumb?
She wore a complete set of South Pearl jewelry, exactly like the one she wore at the palace banquet.
"Lydia, long time no see!"
She quickly covered her face, then exclaimed, "You recognized me? As expected of Aldoak's number one talented woman, Katherine!"
You... I...
Clever, but not very.
The original Katherine was talented and versatile but rarely left the house and never competed with others.
I couldn't understand why Lydia targeted Katherine specifically.
Perhaps my gaze, which made her look like a fool, provoked her.
Lydia stopped pretending and pulled off her veil.
"So what if it's me? No one can save you now. You should think about begging me."
"If I beg you, will you let me go?"
"No, I don't keep my word."
"Get lost!"
"Katherine, you, you don't know what's good for you. Do you know who captured you? Beg me, and maybe I'll let you die a little easier."
With my hands and feet tied, I wriggled like a silkworm, changing my position to lie down.
In a nonchalant tone, I asked, "Then tell me, who tied me up?"
"Of course, it's your marquess's enemy..."
Before she could finish, the door was kicked open.
