Chapter 1 Mate

CHAPTER ONE

Selene's POV

My life had always been torn apart, loveless, and abused by everyone that crossed my path and I was already used to that. But I never thought that anyone would be able to hurt me so bad again to render me so broken, not until I met him.

It all began on a blessed Saturday afternoon, the blazing sun was overhead and the city was buzzing with the day's business. I was at the town's Mayor's bar where I worked as a waitress.

"Please get me water, can I get wine, please? Why are you taking so long?" The clamours of the people in the bar filled my ears and I had to hurry up so that I was going to meet all their orders.

My legs were already aching from the work but I was certainly not going to stop. I was a strong girl right from the beginning and that is exactly what has been keeping me strong.

I could feel sweat forming at the corner of my eyes as I went around the bar with glasses of drinks and cans of water balanced steadily in my tray.

I distributed the drinks as soon as I could. I had to serve everyone there as soon as I could because I also worked at a close by diner after my shift.

I watched the time closely and it was just ten minutes to twelve. "I have just ten minutes more minutes time here," I said swiftly to myself.

I distributed the rest of the drinks around as soon as I could and I went over to my boss, the Vampire Mayor.

"I am done for today sir." I said to him and he shot a stare at me. I was waiting for my allowance and he knew that. He shot a stare at me but I didn't care, all I waited for was my allowance.

He brought out the five dollar bill and pushed it over to me. "Here it is." He returned to me. I snatched the money away from him quickly. I was already running late and I was damn sure that my boss would already be foaming with anger.

I broke into a swift run towards the diner and I could feel my heart pounding hard against my chest as though it was going to burst through and cold Shivers ran swiftly down my spine.

I could see the diner just before me and I knew that I was already late as I could see my boss just before me, foaming with anger.

"Where have you been?" He growled at me with so much hate and anger in his voice when I got over to him.

"I am very Sorry!" I returned to him but he would not listen to a single word that I had to say as he growled at me with so much outrage in his voice.

He pulled away from me and I could not even tell if he was angry or not as he walked Into the diner and I walked slowly behind him but I was stopped by three panther shifters making me fall backward.

"I have gotrent someone else." He shot at me from behind and my heart sank.

"So you have been the one keeping all of us waiting?" They shot at me with smirks hanging on their faces while I stared right into their eyes.

But I was not a single bit afraid of them, I had already been oppressed in the past. This was not the First and it was not going to be the last, and from all these experiences, the only thing that I had learned to do was to act strong.

"What do you want from me?" I shot at them while they advanced slowly toward me and I fell backward with my heart pounding hard against my chest.

"What do we want from you? You kept us waiting so why don't we go to the waiting room?" They shot at me and before I could spit out a single word from my mouth, one of them held me tightly by my hands and licked his lips while the rest of the crowd laughed aloud.

They found it funny but I didn't. My heart pounded hard against my chest as I continued to stare into his eyes. "That's what you get for being such a fool." My boss hissed and walked by while I continued to stare.

I tried hard to break free from him but he had a strong grip on me. "Where do you think that you are going to?" He growled at me while I continued to struggle with him and the rest of them held me from behind.

"Come with us." They shot at me from behind and began to drag me away to the inner room and I struggled even harder but their grip on me was just way too strong.

"Stop right there!" A loud cry came from behind making everyone's eyes turn toward the direction of the sound.

It was a young man between the age of twenty. He advanced towards us swiftly with a frown hanging on his face and he shot a deadly stare at the three of us.

"Alpha Austin?" The Panther Shifters shot quickly and I could hear their hearts beating hard against my chest from the point where I stood.

Everyone in the bar gasped with surprise and my jaw fell apart in amazement. It was the legendary Alpha Austin from the Red Moon pack and I had always wished I would be able to see him one day, but here he was staring at me right in the eyes.

"Why are you disturbing her, why don't you just pick someone your size?" He shot at them with so much hate and anger in his voice.

"Well, she should have come a little bit earlier." They returned but one of the panther shifters firmly refused to leave me alone.

"I am not leaving her alone." He shot at Alpha Austin while everyone in the hall gasped.

He advanced towards them angrily and held him tightly by his neck while he gasped for breath.

"How dare you." He shot at him while he continued to gasp for breath.

"I am sorry my Alpha." He apologised quickly and threw him to the floor while he continued to gasp for breath and he ran out of the place with the others.

Then, he turned towards me and shot a stare at me but I wasn't afraid of him. I opened my mouth to appreciate him but then I began to perceive an odd Scent of commanon mixed with ginger, so sweaty that I could not help but continue sniffing.

Then, my wolf confirmed the truth. "Mate! Mate!" My wolf kept screaming while I continued to stare into his gaze.
