Chapter 7 DejaVu

I made my way to the dining table talking and laughing with Lou. Just as we reached the elevator I felt a hand grasp my arm. I turned to face Dakota. I could see in his eyes he was pissed. Isn't he always? I thought as I attempted to move his hand. "What are you... "We need to talk," he said and started to drag me when another hand caught my other arm.

And I thought Dakota's expression was deadly before but I was wrong. "Let her go," Dakota said, tightening his grip on my arm causing me to wince from the pain. "No, you let her go. You think you can drag her around like she's your fucking pet!" Lou yelled. I just stood in shock not understanding why either of them was angry.

"Can you mind your damn business for once in your life?" Dakota said, stepping closer to Lou yet still dragging me with him. Lou didn't let go either as he stepped forward clearly no one was going to back down. And I couldn't be more relieved when Jason stepped out of the elevator and stood between them.

"Both of you let go, can't you see her arms are turning red?"

Usually, it's Lou playing peacemaker. The whole situation is confusing. I thought, rubbing my arms when they finally released them. "Dakota, you don't need to drag her. If you need to talk to her. Ask her to talk like a normal person. Lou let's go. He's right. She's not our business" Jason said, glancing at me. "I'll go if she wants me to go," Lou countered, still glaring at Dakota.

I turned to Lou and before I could say anything. I could see the hurt in his eyes. "It's fine. Let me talk to him for a moment then I'll... Lou scoffed. "As you wish" and he walked past me towards the staircase. Jason looked at me like I was just the cruelest person he'd ever seen before running after Lou. I know he's trying to help but I thought it was best to diffuse the situation.

I turned to Dakota, annoyed. "Well let's go," He said and walked towards his room. I rolled my eyes before following him. "What's so important we need to talk now?" I said walking into his room. He caught me off guard when he turned to face me and closed the door before cornering me against it. "Watch your tone. Don't let my brother's attitude rub off on you"

I stood quiet for a moment not because I was at all intimidated but because he was too close for comfort. "I don't have an attitude and why are you so close?" He smirked. "Is it weird for me to be close to my fiance?" he said, getting closer. The thought of me marrying him made me shiver. "There's no ring on my finger. So I'm not your fiance" I said glaring at him.

Again that annoying smirk comes and he lifts my left hand and places a ring on my ring finger. Shocked is an understatement. I stared at it for a few seconds admiring how gorgeous it was then I realized who put it there and immediately started to take it off. His hand holds both of mine. "Don't take it off, ever. Didn't we already discuss this? You will marry me"

I pulled my hands away and crossed my arms. "You mean when you put a knife to my throat, and declared it. Then I guess. If that's what you call a discussion" He sighed as he ran a hand through his hair. "I'd get why you hate me if it was because of the knife and threats, but you were already bitchy before that. So, I don't get it" I glared at him again.

He's right I judged him before the whole psycho moment where he threatened me with a knife. I mean he dresses like some dark lord from the freaking underworld. And then he opens his mouth and you realize his ego fits his appearance. You know the lyrics to Take A Hint by Victoria Justice and Elizabeth Gillies.

"You had me at hello

Then you opened up your mouth

And that is when it started going south"

That's kinda how it was for me. His style is questionable but he is kind of cute. I'll just say cute cause saying handsome when referring to him makes me want to vomit. "Maybe I was wrong about the hate part. Considering you're openly checking me out right now" I inwardly cursed myself for doing so. I quickly averted my gaze. "Can I go now?" I asked annoyed as I tugged on my ear.

Realizing he was too quiet I turned to see him pulling back the curtains. I lifted my hand trying to shelter my eyes from the sunlight. "It's about time," Dakota said as he walked towards the bed, arms crossed. Wait, I'm in bed? That was a dream? I thought as I sat up. "I've been trying to wake you for about five minutes. Get up and get dressed. You're going to miss breakfast"

I got out of bed abnormally fast and if it wasn't for him catching me I would have landed on the floor. "I didn't mean you had to run," he said, hands still on my waist which made me extremely uncomfortable. "Thanks" I muttered as I rushed to the door. Once in my room, I headed towards the bathroom when I felt a sharp pain in my side. I stopped in my tracks to sit on the bed.

I lifted my shirt revealing the white bandage. Then everything came rushing back to me like a wave. The Queen being murdered, me leaving the castle, Lou passing out, the argument with Jason, waking up to Dakota lifting my shirt. I sighed as I walked into the bathroom and locked the door. Now under the hot shower. My mind roamed with questions.

How's the king doing? How's Lou doing? Why is Dakota suddenly being semi-nice? Is Jason still pissed I tried to leave? Will I get another chance to leave? There's so much that's just going through my head. I stepped out. Dried off and dressed quickly in a baby blue sweater, black jeans, and black ankle boots. I put my hair into a messy bun. As I left my room.

"You're still here?" I heard a voice say from behind me. I turned to see Lou standing with his arms crossed. "Well, I'm glad to see you're... I mean how are... How is the king doing?," I stuttered. His eyes were puffy and red. His skin was pale. He shook his head. "Walk with me. You can tell me why you're still here" he said as he walked past me.

"Well, maybe I wanted to stay and see if a certain person was okay" he stopped walking and turned to face me.

"Oh that's cute, but you don't have to lie" I laughed as we began to walk again. We continued to talk as we reached the elevator and I couldn't help but think this was all familiar. We reached the elevator and waited for it to open. And just as we did a hand grasped my arm. I turned to face Dakota. "We need to talk," he said. Yup, Deja Vu.
