Chapter 5 Chaos

"Nooooo!"

"Mom!"

I stood up in shock as I stared down at the queen. She lies on the floor blood pooling from beneath. Eyes open yet... empty. The king kneeled beside her screaming and sobbing, "What did you do?! You bitch what did you do?!"

Jason screamed in Mary's face as he shook her shoulders. I stood there confused. She said she loved working for them. Why would she... "She was screwing my husband. She deserves it!" Mary yelled before she burst into tears. "Fifteen years I worked for her.

Fifteen years of my life that I gave up to be your fucking maid. You slut! how could you?!" The king launched towards her. A few steps forward and suddenly he's on the floor beside his wife. His hand, still grasping his chest.

Paramedics announce her deceased on the scene. The king is put on bed rest after having a mild stroke. I ran off to my room. I locked the door behind me, grabbed the backpack I had packed and decided to leave now.

I know it seems like the timing is bad but I needed to leave right away. I snatched up my backpack and headed towards the exit. Once I'm out of the castle I sprint to the woods. My shoe choice is not a very good one. I forgot I stopped wearing these shoes due to them being tight.

I moved through the woods quickly. Branches hit me hard from every direction but I just kept running trying to get as far away from the castle as possible. And before I know it there's a clearing and I'm just in the middle of nowhere.

No people around, no houses, just a road far beyond what I could see. I decided to stay on this road and hope for the best. The air is cold. I stopped in my tracks realizing now that I... I have blood all over me. Shit, I didn't change. If anyone sees me on this road they might think I killed someone.

I went back into the woods annoyed as I pulled the sweatshirt off and threw it on the ground. I began to unzip my backpack when there was a loud snap behind me. I froze, afraid to move.

Is it an animal or worse the devil?

I pulled the backpack to my chest realizing I had on just my bra before slowly turning around. "Do you always strip in the woods?" Lou asked, trying not to look my way. I was relieved it wasn't his brother but still surprised.

"Can you... before I finished he turned around to let me put on a shirt. "No, I don't... usually. I just thought I was alone" I stated as I pulled on a long-sleeved floral print cream shirt. You can... look now. I said pulling my backpack on.

He turned back slowly. He still didn't look at me. And it hit me that he just lost his mom. "Are you... I'm sorry I don't know what to say" I don't know what it's like to lose a mom I've never really had one. I thought.

"It's fine you... don't need to say anything. You can continue to run away. I'm not here to stop you. I was just trying to get some air, he said in a low voice barely coherent. I hope you stay safe Sky"

He began to walk away but fell to the ground after just a few steps. I knelt beside him, surprised by his action. "Are you okay?" I questioned one hand on his shoulder. He nodded. "I'll be fine. You should run and keep running"

I could tell he was in shock. He's dressed in a navy blue t-shirt, bright blue jeans, and slides. "Go Sky" He half whispered. I turned to walk away when he grabbed my hand. "Dont let him catch you. He doesn't deserve anyone"

Before I could say anything he fell to the ground completely. Eyes closed. I didn't know what to do. I can't leave him like this. I wanted to run but I'm no monster. no decent human would leave him here.

I can't carry him. Maybe drag him. No, that'd be bad. I stood there thinking. "Lou!" Jason screamed as he ran toward us. What happened to him" he asked as he knelt beside him. "I don't know he just passed out," I said as I watched him lift his brother over his shoulder.

"You were... going to leave without saying goodbye?" Jason asked. "There was no need to. I just can't stay here. I don't want to marry your brother" I said. "So don't!" he yelled. He started to walk away then stopped and turned back.

"My mom was happy you were here. She had plans to do things with you. Like you're her daughter.

She wanted to make you happy here. Now she's dead and you don't even stick around long enough to see us bury her. That's pretty messed up, "he said.

His eyes were bloodshot red. "Messed up? No, what's messed up is them buying me like I'm some object. That's messed up" He chuckled. "Oh your parents put you on the market and mine is the bad guy? They just wanted to help you.

Because your mom said if they had no plans to buy you she'd sell you into sex trafficking" He stated.

I wasn't surprised. I mean my mom never wanted me. I just. I don't get why he's making such a big deal about me leaving.

"I'm sorry she's dead, but that is not my fault. Don't take it out on me. I wish I could stay for her funeral but I... I'm sorry I can't. I need to go" I said before walking away. "If you're that afraid of him. We will protect you.

Lou likes you, I like you but I'd give anything for my brother to be happy. At least stay for him. Maybe you don't have any feelings for him now or any of us but just give it a chance" I kept walking.

"Hey Sky if you leave like this... When he catches you I will not help you. You're being really cold and selfish!" He yelled from behind me. I just ignored him. I mean he's right. I know he's right but still, I'd rather leave now.

I'm already free. -Swoosh "Ah!" I yelled as I fell to the ground. I could see the sky then Jason was still holding Lou as he looked down at me. "Sky stay down he said as he laid Lou next to me. You got hit. Stay down!"

My eyes felt heavy, my body numb, there was a metallic taste in my mouth as I gasped for air. Jason began to lift me and the next thing I knew my eyes were closing on their own. "I need to hide you both for now but I'll come back. I promise I'll come back"

I could hear him but I couldn't respond. I felt myself slowly weakening, blood running down my waist. Soon I couldn't hear anything as I faded away. It all felt painful but slowly. Slowly I felt like I was floating. I felt at peace.
