Chapter 4 No.4

I decided to divorce Emily.

This was the result I got after sitting there for a whole night.

Since she chose to lie to me and went to Nick, this marriage was destined to be an unhappy ending. So it was better to let her go as soon as possible.

I called Emily.

She didn't answer it for the first time.

Then I tried again, but still, she didn't answer.

The phone didn't get through until the third time.

It was a man who answered the phone, and I would never forget that voice.

It was Nick.

"Who are you? What's up?"

Suddenly, a surge of anger welled up inside me.

Didn't Emily name my number?

I believed he said this on purpose.

He was provoking me.

When I was about to curse, a woman's voice came, "Who is it?"

My fists clenched, my fingertips turning white. "Emily, let's get a divorce."

There was a rustling sound on the other end of the phone, and then her voice sounded clear.

"What are you talking about?"

"I said divorce."

Stunned for a moment, Emily said angrily, "Divorce?"

I lit a cigarette and exhaled. Surrounded by the smoke, I saw the wedding photo on the wall.

"Don't you want to be with Nick? I will fulfill your wish and let myself go. I want divorce."

Emily sighed heavily, helpless and depressed, "Just because I don't do the operation? When did you become so mean? Don't make a joke about this."

The phone was hung up.

There was a long silence in the darkness.

I calmly stubbed out the cigarette on our wedding photo, where Emily was smiling brightly.

The flame became the only light in the darkness, replacing her face.
