Chapter 2 002

Isadora's POV:

As soon as I spotted the river that marked the southern and western border, I pulled the reins of my horse, making it stop. After journeying for two nights, we had finally reached the border. I looked up at the sky; the sun was already setting, making way for the moon to rise. My eyes scanned the surroundings, and there was no one else except us.

"We're the only ones here. Are you sure they'll show up?" Garrick, my father's beta, said to me.

"They responded to my father's call for war, stating that they would show up. They are Alphas, and they know better than to go back on their word," I replied.

"What if they have something up their sleeves? Those twins are good-for-nothing monsters, and no one dared to mess with them. I don't know why Alpha King Walter would think we stand a chance against them," Garrick added.

"Beta Garrick, are you having second thoughts already?" I questioned, my expression stern.

"I've had doubts about this war from the beginning. It is so unnecessary," he replied with a frown.

"It's surprising to see the beta of the most powerful pack in the south talking like a coward," I said to him.

"What?!"

"Excuse me, I need to address the soldiers," I informed him, changing the topic of the conversation before getting down from my horse.

"Hello everyone, I need your attention!" I said in a loud voice, and everyone turned to face me, some in werewolf form changing into their human form.

When I was sure everyone's attention was on me, I began.

"As you'll see, we have reached the borders, but the enemies are nowhere to be seen. We have to be patient and wait for what's next. I know some of us are tired from the journey, so we will use this opportunity to rest, but we will take turns to do so because we don't know what the enemies have up their sleeves. We have to be alert at all times. I don't know what is in it for us, but we have to fight with our last strength. We are fighting not only for our pack but for our loved ones back home. The only way to guarantee safety and protect the ones we love is when those two lycan twins are dead. Their kind knows nothing apart from killing people ruthlessly. We don't need that kind of creature within us. They're the last of their kind, and they would be extinct if both of them are dead. Sweat for sweat, blood for blood, we fight till our last breath. For the love of Walter Pack!"

"For the love of Walter Pack!" They repeated after me in a loud voice, looking up to the sky as they howled, "awooooooo!"

"I suddenly feel like we have a chance against those twins after hearing your speech earlier," Garrick said to me as he sat beside me on the river bank where I sat looking up to the sky at the moon which was almost out.

"We sure have a chance against them if you imprint it in your mind that we do. The beginning of failure is when you think negatively. We ought to be positive to win. I'm glad my speech changed your perception," I said to him.

"I believe the moon goddess is on our side. She has always been," he said, and I nodded.

"You have been sitting here for a while now. You should have some rest," he said to me.

"There is no time for me to rest. Today is the day I have been waiting for all my life. I want to be awake and see how it starts. After today, I can get some rest," I said to him.

"I would go and rest for a while," he said to me before leaving.

I sighed deeply as my gaze was fixed on the full moon that had come out fully. Nothing I heard about the lycan twins scared me; instead, it made me want to meet them more than ever and pierce my sword into their heart, slicing it into tiny pieces, ending their existence as a whole. I had faith that I would win. The moon goddess has always been on my side. My victories in other fights were a testament to that, and this fight wouldn't be different from others.

Just then, I heard a sound. I grabbed my sword immediately as I stood up on my feet. My eyes scanned through my surroundings, but everything was normal. Some of the soldiers were resting, and some were on guard, patrolling. I sighed, turning back to leave, but I stopped on my track when I heard a loud scream. I turned immediately and could see a soldier running towards me.

"What is going on?" I questioned.

"They are here. The lycan twins are here," he announced, breathing heavily. On hearing that, I became alert immediately.

"Go inform the others, wake the ones that are sleeping up. It's time," I ordered. Soon, everyone was assembled.

"Our enemies are here already. Let's fight till our last breath. For the love of Walter Pack!" I said loudly, raising my sword up to the sky.

"For the love of Walter pack!" they chorused.

Soon, everyone was positioned in their different positions. It didn't take long before I saw the soldiers of Quinn pack running towards us in their werewolf form. I could feel energy rushing through my veins as I was filled with bloodlust. The only thing on my mind was destroying everything on my part.

I rushed forward, cutting down one werewolf after the other. Each time I struck, I felt a surge of grim satisfaction.

Suddenly, a werewolf broke through the line, its jaws gaping wide as it charged straight at me. Without hesitation, I braced myself and met the creature's attack, my sword flashing as I delivered a series of lightning-fast blows. The werewolf howled in pain and fury, but I did not relent, driving it back step by step until finally, with a mighty swing, I cleaved off its head.

Around me, the battle raged on. I smirked when I saw more of their soldiers fall. The moon goddess was surely on our side but my happiness was short-lived when I saw more of my soldiers start falling to the ground. It was happening so fast, one after the other, they were falling to the ground as if making way for someone.

I gritted my teeth as I charged forward, but I couldn't feel my legs again. I tried to walk, but I couldn't. Instead, I staggered backwards, nearly falling to the ground, but I used my strength to prevent myself from falling.

I could feel a strange feeling I haven't felt before washing over my body. I could hear the sound of my heartbeat, which was beating loudly, as if it wanted to jump out of my chest. I was confused.

What was happening to me?

I felt like I was burning inside of me. Beads of sweat were already forming on my forehead, and my palm was sweaty and was vibrating, making the sword I was holding fall on the ground. I felt a sharp pain on my back, making me scream in pain and fall on my knees. I tried to get up, but the pain held me down.

Tears rolled down my eyes as I saw werewolves from my pack fall dead on the ground, and I couldn't even do anything about it.

"Princess Isadora," I heard Beta Garrick's voice from behind me.

"We need to retreat, we don't stand a single chance against them. We have lost a lot of soldiers," he said to me.

"No!" I yelled.

"We won't return until we kill those lycan twins. This opportunity might not come again," I said to him.

"Our soldiers are dropping dead one by one. We can't continue risking the lives of many people. You're not in good condition either. We have to retreat before it's too late," he said to me.

The pain I was feeling was slowly subsiding. I grabbed my sword, which was laying on the ground, and stood on my feet, staring sternly at Beta Garrick. "I don't care if I lose my life killing those lycan twins. I will drag them to hell with me." With that, I charged towards the enemies, slashing each and everyone of them.

The closer I went to the front of the battlefield, the more pain I felt, but I used my strength to block the pain. From where I stood, I could now see the ones responsible for the killings.

They were the two lycan twins which I have been preparing myself all these years for. In the front of the battlefield, they stood in their huge lycan form, killing lots of werewolves from my pack. They were doing it so effortlessly, and it only added to the anger I was already feeling.

I charged towards them immediately in a swift movement, raising my sword and striking the black one on the back unawares, but my sword broke on coming in contact with its skin.

He turned immediately, facing me, his blazing red eyes glaring at me. For the first time after all these years of fighting in many battles, I was scared, but the fear I was feeling was replaced with a feeling of hatred and anger when I remembered everything that happened in the past.

They were the monsters that killed my parents years ago. They burnt my pack to the ground sparing nobody. They deserve to die. I would make sure today was their last day on earth.

I grabbed my broken sword immediately and tried to lunge at him, but I fell on my knees, screaming in pain, not knowing what was happening to me. I could feel my nails growing longer, and furs were appearing on my hand.

What was happening to me? I thought I didn't have a wolf. Even if I had one,why was I turning today of all days? What the hell is going on?

Then I heard a voice growl in my head.

"Mate,"

I froze in shock.

Before I could think of anything, the huge lycan crouched down before me, grabbing my neck. The skin contact makes sparks of electricity erupt from my skin. Its touch helped in subsiding the pain I was feeling but he added to the pain when he increased the hold on my neck, its claws piercing my skin. I could feel blood dripping from my neck as he made me stare into its red eyes.

Just then I could hear bones cracking and he turned to his human form. I gulped at the sight before me. Saying he was handsome was an understatement.

He had raven black hair. His cheekbones were well defined and an earthy scent swirled around him. His almond shaped amethyst dark blue eyes were staring intently at me. It was as if the world became still as I stared back into his eyes.

"Finally I have the legendary princess Isadora within my grasp. You don't know how I have been looking forward to this day," Although his voice was deep,I could hear everything he said. I struggled to escape from his grip but I couldn't.

"Bastard,"I cursed under my breath and his grip on me tightened.

"The only thing stopping me from snapping your fragile neck right now is the fact that you turned out to be my mate. What a coincidence?"he said.

"Keep on dreaming. You're not my mate and will never be," I said to him and he chuckled.

"You're fiery, aren't you? We will find out how long you will resist this bond between us." He said as he caressed my cheeks, his touch sending shivers down my spine. I gritted my teeth trying to hide what his touch was doing to me. His hands trailed down to my cleavage and I gasped.

He smirked before cupping my cheeks up and drawing circles on my lips with his fingers. I could feel my breath hitching as he brought his face closer to mine, feeling his breath on my face.

"Don't worry, I won't kill you with my own hands. This mate bond will do the work. It will be a slow and torturing death for you. You won't be able to do anything about it. You would be so helpless because you're matebound to me and it would be the death of you. The moon goddess chose a nice death for you. She must really love you so much. You would pay for every single life you took. After that, your father would be the next," he whispered and I spat on his face making him shift away from me.

"Asshole,Fucking asshole!" I yelled at him. "Don't worry,I will make sure you rot in hell where you truly belong ,"

I rushed towards him, lunging my claws at him but as soon as my claws came in contact with his skin, my claws broke making me feel intense pain. It was as if I just hit an iron. He was impenetrable. He just stood with a smirk on his face.

I staggered backwards as I have never seen anything like this before.

He closed the gaps between us and grabbed my hands, squeezing it and the pain I felt made me scream.

"What makes you think you can kill me?" He asked.

"You think conquering so many packs in the south makes you fit enough to kill me. Are you that stupid? You should have retreated when you had the chance. You stand no chance against me,baby girl,"

His words made me clench my fists.

Before I could say anything to him, I felt a heavy bang on my head which caused me to feel dizzy and my vision became blurry.

"Retreat!"

"They caught the princess!" Was the last thing I heard before everything became dark.
