Chapter 7 The stranger in the hallway

Ava's Pov

This place is so dark but at least it's better than having prying eyes fixated on me, I have never been so uncomfortable in my entire life.

I walked in the eerily halls, Everywhere was silent and I could only hear the sound of my recurring yet hesitated footsteps.

As I wandered deeper into the halls I didn't realize how big it was until I had gotten lost. I tried to find my way back but I couldn't find the path in which I had followed to get to that point. Panic filled me and I was about to scream for help until I saw a dark image appear in front of me.

"Why are you sneaking around?" A shiver ran down my spine but I had to calm my nerves. I thought to myself, Perhaps it could be one of the guards. I got closer to the man and realized that he was adorned with gold jewelry and his outfit wasn't one that a low-rank wolf would wear.

He was a tall man with black hair with a low cut hair, He had a scar on his face, Golden eyes, and a strong jawline,

It was best to be as respectful as possible, I didn't want to get into trouble and I did not want to cause any more heartache or embarrassment for my parents.

"Pardon me, sir, I just wanted to get some fresh air and it might seem that I've lost my way" I politely said.

"Of course, you will lose your way. You haven't been here before I suppose" He said in an arrogant and eerie way.

I didn't like his tone but then again I didn't know who he was, so I decided to try to be respectful.

"Yes, I have not" I replied.

He sighed looked at me and shook his head.

"You shouldn't be walking around these halls all by yourself. You're not a child so why are you getting lost?" He raised an eyebrow.

"I didn't intend to get lost, The halls are so big with little lighting, I am certain even the Alpha twins get lost once in a while" I chuckled lightly.

"How sure are you?" The man asked while folding his arms across his chest.

"I am sure" I was already feeling weird about this man so I excused myself from his presence and walked past him. Just when I thought I had left him behind, He felt a grip on my hand. I turned around to make sense of what was happening and before I could process more thoughts. I was held against the wall.

The man with golden eyes stared deeply back at me and I gulped nervously.

"Wh.. What are you doing?" My eyes widened and I tried to understand why this strange man held me in this position.

"If you're so sure that the Alpha twins get lost in their halls, you should ask them if it's true or not."

"I don't think it will be possible, I have never met them and I don't know what they look like either." I tried to keep my composure calm so he could at least free me from his grip and I could make a run for it.

"You're looking at one of them now." My heart must have skipped a million beats, It was beating so fast that I couldn't catch my breath.

One of the twin Alpha's was holding my wrists and I didn't bow to him. If my mom finds out she will not be happy about this.

"Oh please please please forgive my manners, Your Majesty." I bent my head a little and bowed while still being held in that way.

He smirked mischievously and my stomach churned in anxiety. My legs were already shaking and giving up on me.

"I can feel your legs shake, Should I carry you back to the ballroom?" When I heard this voice leave his lips my face turned red and I turned my face away from his gaze.

"Don't be shy now, You weren't shy when you danced with my brother" My shoulders dropped and I couldn't believe that I just danced with one of the Alpha kings.

I don't blame people for staring at me, Oh no I'm going to be the hottest gossip tomorrow. I am already thinking about how annoying that will be. I cringed at the thought of it.

I just hope this whole thing dies down quickly. I don't want the unnecessary attention I will be getting after this.

"Oh? I wasn't aware, I'm sorry if I might've done something or said something to upset you." He said nothing, He just leaned closer to me and took a big sniff of my neck and a gasp escaped my lips.

"Run along now, Don't get lost again, I don't think you'll be lucky enough to get help from me every time." I gave a subtle smile and bowed before I quickened my steps and left the halls and back into the ballroom.

After a few hours of dancing and fun times, We exited the ballroom. If it was left to my mom I'm certain she would want to stay here forever.

The ride home was quiet, We just shared a few comments on the night. Once we reached home I heard the scream of my mother.

"You danced with one of the twin Alpha." She was elated and she leaped for joy.

"So?" I asked with an uninterested tone

"Even if you were foolish enough to reject Lorcan, The Alpha kings have put you in the public eye but dancing with you and in no time you will get your mate" My mom spoke freely.

"Goodnight ma, Goodnight papa" I kissed their cheeks and slept almost immediately.

"Hey Ava" I got up from my sleep, What was that about?

I had been dreaming about that weird dream for a while and now all of a sudden it had changed to me meeting an anonymous man in my dream.

I looked out my window and saw the bright sky, I decided to lie down for a few more minutes when I heard a scream. I ran downstairs and saw a letter in Mom's hands

Her hands shook as she handed over the letter to me and I dreaded the content of the letter. I opened it slowly and it read boldly.
