Chapter 3 GOODBYES.

GOODBYES.

"My time is short,I don't have much time,Kyra,you must listen to me attentively."

She coughed.And. Could see it just as she pressed the white handkerchief ,I could see it then,the handkerchief which she had been holding was stained with red stains.

My eyes danced wildly,I sniffed, feeling the hot stung of tears.

"The wealth, everything doesn't belong to the Blane family ...He will be coming for you tomorrow to reclaim everything here which includes you,you are to pay the debt."

What the hell ?

What was mom talking about ?

Debt? Reclaim? Will he be coming for me ?

I don't understand.

"I'm not going with a stranger." I protested , balling my fists."I'm not going with anybody and I'm definitely not going to the trenches."

But Mom said nothing,it seemed like she was giving puffs of her life little by little and as if my questions were making her lose her strength.

"Who is coming for me? What debt do I owe?" I persisted,I was beginning to cry now .

I thought about my whole life,how I had lived in affluence.

I was never going down,what will the kids at school say about me?

I was going to be the laughing stock in the whole Pack.

I made to stand up,my legs shaking,my chest tightened so that breathing was like a war.

This was impossible.

"Do something Mother, please,don't die......I can't bear to live alone in this world."

Then I let my eyes glance around the room, taking in the opulence ,the wealth that had always surrounded me since I was a child m

How could this be happening?To me ?

How could my perfect life suddenly become imperfect before my eyes?

The thought of leaving everything behind, everything,the wealth,the attention, I had come to enjoy and make part of my life.

It was going to be difficult,how would I face the unknown,the thought alone was terrifying.

I had always lived in comfort,in luxury, protected from the harsh face of the realities of life.

Now,this.

The thought of becoming a laughingstock crept into my mind slowly,chewing on my insides, I saw myself losing everything,I had ever know

The thought alone was unthinkable,unimaginable.

I was the most popular girl in school.

It was then I knew life doesn't give a shot.

My legs trembled as I stood up, my insides churned as I pushed myself to stand.

My chest clawed at me with fear and panic.

Every intake of breath felt like a war, each inhalation a very big struggle against my chest.

"He who will come to claim you is an Alpha,he owns everything we ever enjoyed....it was all a debt ."

"I won't go with him," I declared, my voice shivering but very strong but firm. "I won't let some Alpha dictate my life."

But even as I spoke,letting the words fly out after listening to my mother, doubts chewed at the edges of my heart.

"Why I'm I bound to him ? What debts do I owe and why must I pay them ?" I asked the air competing to rush out of my lungs as the words seemed to choke back on me and tightened my throat.

"I need to know everything,I need....."

But I couldn't finish the words as I broke down in tears,I was leaving home somewhere faraway with a stranger.

I don't even know his name.

And so, in the midst of it all,the sun going on its own journey of the day,Mom told me everything, the secrets of our family's past.

She spoke of a time long ago,of a pact she and my late father Lycan Gregory had made in their moments of suffering and despair.

In moments of emergency,she told the tale with tears rolling down from her sunken cheeks down her pale cheeks.

A pact with a powerful Alpha,The Alphas of Alphas,exchanging their me for wealth and power on the agreement that when I turned eighteen he would come claim me and make me his mate.

"Why mother." I croaked disbelief etched on my face,anger and surprise lacing my voice.``Why do you have to trade me so ...why...." I looked around me wildly.``So I was the ransome....so now I'm to pay off the debt by becoming a mate to a cold hearted Alpha....A man whom all the Northern Wolfe Empire feared."

"Forgive me,Kyra." Mom choked on her words laced with tears."There was nothing your father and I could do,we were so poor, dirty poor and you were dying....you were my only hope after losing nine pregnancies..... understand my pain my child.....we did what was best for you."

I watch her shake uncontrollably with the cry coming out of her throat ,her tears falling in rivulets.

"Forgive me, my child.

You are stronger than you know, Kyra," she whispered."Alpha Damon will look after you the best he could ." She finished her voice, her voice barely audible.

"I hope you will find all the answers you need just be brave.... Rosa is here to guide you. This is what she has been doing since you were a child.Listen to her ."

"Mom....mom." I called my voice shaking."Please don't die,I might be a bad child but please don't leave me." I cried,my voice choking,I wished I was the one dying instead of her.

"Take her away Rosa." Mom croaked lying back on her bed."Take her out immediately, prepare her and teach her all she needs to know.May the Moon Goddess lead you my child, don't forget that I love and I will always love you Kyra."

While I was being led away by Rosa,I struggled in her grasp, trying to go back to Mom.

I saw her eyes fluttered close,her body becoming suddenly still

"Mommmmmm."
