A smile creeps up my face as I take another sip of my coffee, "I'm fine with that."
After a while of chatting and stalking social media accounts, Fiona stops talking mid sentence. "What?" I ask her, "Hello?" I clap my hand infront of her face, "Fiona!" She almost looks as if she is in a haze and I follow her eyesight to see Juliet. She's in the middle of the oval huddled in a group with her ed up friends. I let out a loud sigh.
I love Fiona- I want the best for her obviously but Juliet? She deserves so much better then her- she doesn't even want to officially be Fiona's girlfriend! She's basically a side piece..
"Go on then," I say to her and she turns her head around to meet mine, her pretty auburn hair flowing in the wind.
"What?"
"Go hang out with Juliet," I say motioning towards her.
"Are you sure?"
"Of course, she's your girlfriend." I wince, "Sort of."
"I don't want to leave you alone." She says her voice soft and calming but I can tell she wants to leave and talk with Juliet.
I shove her a little, "Fiona. I can handle myself." I smile, "Go on, have fun."
I watch her walk away giving me a small wave when she reaches Juliet. She smiles when Fiona reaches her and I can see her entire face light up from meters away as she brings they bring their lips together.
I walk away from them down a graveled path kicking the small rocks with my head down in my phone. My wallpaper is of Matt, Fiona and I on the first week we met with his dog leaning her chin against the top of my head.
I hear fast footsteps in front of me- coming towards me on the corner of the pathway.
Oh gosh.
Jeremy stupid Steve.
He slows his steps and takes his air pods out of his ears- Jeremy's sweaty face stares at me.
I glare at him, crossing my arms around my waist. "What are you looking at Steve?"
He shakes his head, "Nothing."
I look him up and down- his entire body is sweaty his top stuck against his skin.
Gross.
"Really?" I ask, "Because it kind of looks like you are."
He blinks a couple of times, "I'm not Elena." His voice is gruff and out of breath.
"Sure thing buddy." I look around the park- the oval is now empty. "Why are you running around here at night?" He shrugs, "Exercise, what about you?"
How does he annoy me so much when he's barely speaking?
"Walking home." Two can play that game.
We stare each other down for a few seconds before he clears his throat and begins speaking again. "How is your day off?" his eyes wander around my face then leave past my shoulder.
"It's fine," I say. "I mean- a lot of studying but other then that. What about you?"
Why the are we still speaking together? I should just walk home, I'm not sure Fiona will be there though- probably not.
"Hockey. Coach has been at our throats lately." He clarifies, "we have our first game in a week."
I nod, "sounds fun."
"It is."
"I was so obviously being sarcastic Steve," I roll my eyes and walk away without turning around but I swear I feel his eyes on the back of my head.
