Chapter 8 The discovery of Elsie true identity

Elsie's POV

The sun was setting, and Madriod hasn't returned yet. Elsie felt anxious and paced back and forth like a mother waiting for her child to come home from school. Suddenly, she bumped into a sturdy body and looked up to see Madriod's face, which made her feel relieved.

With their sudden closeness, Elsie looked at him, taking in his minty scent. They locked eyes for a moment, and she felt her cheeks flush before breaking the intimate moment.

"Uhmm, eh-hmm," she cleared her throat and asked, "You're back! How did the hunt go?"

"We couldn't find a single werewolf, but we believe we'll catch them soon," he replied.

"How are you doing?" "And how was your day?" "I thought about you all day and felt like I shouldn't leave you until you recover." "What's that delicious smell?" "Don't tell me you cooked today?" he asked eagerly.

"How many questions do I have to answer, and where do I start?" Rosa laughed.

"Start from anywhere, please," he replied, pulling a chair to sit beside her.

"I'm fine, as you can see," she said, standing with her hands on her hips to prove her point. "You don't have to worry about me, and yes, I cooked. I had no idea what to make, but I remembered your method of preparing the bush meat stew. So I took the bold step to prepare it since we have all the ingredients at home. You've always been the one taking care of me, so I decided to cook today, and I hope you like it," she said, grinning like a kid.

"Oh, I can't wait to have a taste of it. The aroma is enticing," Madriod replied, his expression like a beast ready to feast on its prey.

"Why don't you wait here, and I'll go get the food?" Elsie suggested.

Elsie walked out with a food tray, and then she laid it down beside Madriod and sat down.

"Try it, and please give me your honest review," Elsie said.

After taking a few spoons of food, Madriod complimented her, saying, "Hm, this food is delicious. You're a fast learner," in between mouthfuls of food.

They both enjoyed their meal and had a pleasant evening chatting away from the little moonlight illumination down on the earth. Anyone looking at them would see two little children talking and laughing hard in the shadows.

Over the next few days, Elsie stayed with Mario, learning more about him and his world. Madriod learned from Elsie that she was a werewolf during an evening chat with her. She had fully recovered and had some faint knowledge of her past.

"Madrid, my name is Elsie, and I am a werewolf," she said with fear of losing him and her life.

"You must not tell anyone about this, do you understand? You will be fine as long as I am here," Madriod replied, embracing her reassuringly. He had suspected that she might be a werewolf because of her speedy healing process but couldn't prove it until now.

Elsie discovered that Madriod was not just any wolf hunter but a man with a heart of gold who cared deeply for all living creatures, including wolves. He showed her kindness and respect, treating her as an equal rather than as an inferior being. As she spent more time with him, she began to fall deeply in love with him.

Mario had always known that being a wolf hunter came with its own set of rules. He had learned them from his father, who had been a renowned hunter in his time. One of these rules was that any hunter who got into any relationship whatsoever with a wolf would pay with his blood.

At first, Mario had dismissed this rule as nothing more than a superstition. After all, how could anyone fall in love with a wolf? But then he met Elsie, and everything changed. She was not just any wolf; she was a werewolf, a rare and powerful creature that he had never encountered before.

Elsie was different from the other wolves that Mario had hunted down. She was intelligent, compassionate, and fiercely independent. She did not want to be hunted down like an animal; she wanted to be treated with respect and dignity. And Mario, who had always been a man of honor and integrity, could not help but fall deeply in love with her.

But their love was forbidden by the laws of their world. Wolves and humans were not supposed to mix, let alone fall in love with each other. Mario knew this better than anyone else, but he couldn't help the way he felt about Elsie. He was already deeply in love with her, but he knew that any hunter who got into any relationship whatsoever with a wolf would pay with his blood. However, it was already too late for him to take any contradictory actions. He loved her with all his heart and soul and knew that he would do anything to protect her from harm.

As they lay together in bed one night, Elsie whispered in Mario's ear, "I love you."

Mario smiled at her, his eyes filled with emotion. "I love you too," he said softly. "But we can't let anyone know about our love. It's too dangerous for both of us."

Elsie nodded, understanding the gravity of their situation. She knew that they had to keep their love a secret to protect each other. But she also knew that their love was worth fighting for, worth risking everything for.

Engulfed in his warm embrace, she drifts off to sleep while thinking of the vast difference between a human and werewolf. The incident that led to their encounter and the whole lot of danger and trials they will have to face together in this love journey of theirs.

And so they continued to live their lives in secret, loving each other deeply and passionately despite the odds against them.
