Chapter 4 Pay off

"What was that for?" Alejandro yelled angrily at Jessica. His eyes were emanating his burning anger but Jessica wasn't moved an inch by his anger.

"You are asking what is that for huh?" she retorted.

"What were you doing here in the first place?" he snapped.

"What were you doing with her? Your ex wife" Jessica scoffed.

"And how does that got to do with you, you know clearly that we aren't married, she's my ex wife but that's not none of your business, you just interrupt something important Jessica" he said, feeling frustration, his brows moving haggardly as he stared at her angrily.

"I don't want you with her" she said rudely and he seethed, clenching his jaws.

"Let's get out of here" he said and started walking out.

She followed him immediately and they entered the car.

He drove out and silence took over, he didn't even care to spare her a glance. He was so angry about what she did in the cafe. He was about getting Marie's favor, he was on the point of getting it before Jessica came and ruined everything but this is all his fault, he chose this path and now it's hunting him. He badly needs her to save his business or it will be over for his company and right now Jessica ruined it, it will be very difficult to get on Marie's book, the anger in her eyes and her voice when she said that "let's not meet again" she was damn serious about it and it wasn't a joking statement.

He felt his forehead forming with a little drip of sweat as he drove the car.

Marie got home feeling heartbroken and angry at the same time. It's baffling that her former friend Jessica showed up with no ounce of shame in her.

Was it a mistake getting married to an unfaithful man who cheated on her with her Best friend. She regretted agreeing to meet with him in the cafe.

She threw her bag on the couch and sat down with a heavy burden on her heart, she needs to get this off her mind.

She is serious this time and nothing is going to bring her close to Alejandro again, they are done and it's final. He should go ahead and marry Jessica.

"I don't give a damn about it, it's his life, I don't care" she mumbled.

There was total silence from Alejandro as he got home with Jessica. He didn't want to say a word to her, he was still very angry about what she did in the cafe. He started walking inside and Jessica followed till they got into the house.

Getting into the house, he left her and started walking upstairs but Jessica pulled him back by the arm.

He turned to her with a blank look.

"What is it?" he asked coldly.

"Don't give me that silent treatment Alejandro" she snapped.

"And what is your problem about it? I can decide to give you the silent treatment" he shot.

"What's up with you?" she asked.

"You are really asking me that after messing up with an important meeting I was having with Marie?" he yelled.

"You are planning to take her back or what? Do I mean nothing to you?" she said.

He chuckled darkly.

"We are not engaged nor in any relationship Jessica, you are not my wife, she is my ex wife and anything I do with her shouldn't be your concern, get that" he fired and walked out on her.

Jessica clenched her fists angrily.

"You will come back to me" she said.

Alejandro walked to his room and after removing his shirt, a call came into his phone.

He took the phone and saw his secretary calling. He sighed under his breath before answering the call.

"Yes, Thomas" he said after answering the call.

"Sir, the..."

"You are going to talk to me about the company right?" Alejandro cut in and Thomas sighed.

"I have been trying everything but it's not working and this is becoming worse sir" Thomas said and Alejandro heaved heavily.

"Can we talk about this later?" he asked calmly.

"Okay sir" Thomas said and hung up.

Alejandro sat on the bed and started sighing repeatedly.

Meeting with Marie would have granted him a favor to raise his company up but since it didn't work out what is the other alternative.

Every investor he meets refuses to invest in his company to avoid losing their money.

"F*ck" he mumbled and buried his face into his palms.

Days later

Alejandro was in his office trying to sort out things when a call came into his phone from a strange number.

Stopping the work on his fingers on his laptop, he took his eyes slowly to the phone's screen, glancing uninterestedly at the phone's screen. He gave it a few seconds before slowly taking the phone.

He answered the call and a voice came up.

"Meet up with me at the address I will send to you" the voice said and hung up.

Alejandro raised his brows and tried calling the number again but no one answered it.

Shortly a message popped up on his screen with the address of the place.

"Who's that?" he asked himself, feeling confused.

Pinching his brows, he stood up and walked out of his office, meeting Thomas on the way, he stopped.

"Sir"

"I'm going out for now, handle things here, I will be back shortly" Alejandro said and without waiting,he walked out.

Thomas sighed and walked away.

Getting to the place, Alejandro came out of the car and walked into the mansion.

He saw two familiar faces sitting down and when he got closer he recognized them to be Marie's parents.

"Greetings" he said gently and the old man looked at him with a blank look.

"I will be straight to the point, I want to offer you a deal, " A pay off" he said.

"Pay off?" Alejandro asked.

"I'm going to pay you to stay away from my daughter, I don't want to ever see you close or around her. I'm going to pay you off with 1 billion" Marie's father said and Alejandro's eyes came wide.
