"Mr. Evan?" Lily called out again.
"Oh um... I'm sorry".
"Sorry? I should be the one apologizing. I bumped into you".
"It's okay, really".
"Is everything okay? You have some prescriptions..."
"Oh... that's nothing, really".
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah. Sure".
"I'm sorry for bumping into you..."
"That's okay Miss Hart. If you'll excuse me, I have to go now".
"Can I..." Lily tried to say, but Evan had already left.
'I wonder why he's still here. Could it be... could it be that he has a loved one here? Maybe a girlfriend?' She thought.
'No. He can't have a girlfriend. Besides, why am I thinking about that?'
'Sh*t! My phone'.
She shrugged her shoulders before walking hastily to her father's ward.
William was fast asleep, and Elena and Arianna were nowhere in sight.
"Good". She muttered silently to herself.
She picked up her phone and tiptoed to the door, shutting it silently.
As Lily walked through the hospital corridors, Amelia glanced over at her. "So, what took you so long back there? Did something happen?"
Lily hesitated, her mind still on the brief encounter with Evan. "I bumped into someone. A guy, Mr. Evan. He is the one who saved my dad".
"Oh?" Amelia's eyebrows shot up with interest. "Did you talk to him?"
"Yeah, a little. He was getting some prescriptions, but he seemed in a hurry to leave. I tried to ask if everything was okay, but he didn't really say much".
"Maybe he's just not a talkative person," Amelia suggested, glancing at Lily curiously. "Or maybe he has a lot on his mind".
"Maybe," Lily murmured, her thoughts drifting back to the way Evan had looked-tired, but still somehow determined. "He just... seemed like he was going through something. I don't know, it felt strange".
"Are you worried about him?" Amelia asked, studying Lily's expression.
"I don't know," Lily admitted. "It's not like I know him or anything. But he saved my dad's life, and I just... I guess I want to make sure he's okay".
"Maybe you'll see him again," Amelia said with a small smile. "If it's meant to be, you know?"
Lily rolled her eyes, though a faint smile tugged at her lips. "Don't start with that 'meant to be' stuff, Ams."
"What? I'm just saying, maybe there's a reason he's still around," Amelia teased, nudging Lily playfully.
"Yeah, yeah," Lily replied, though she couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to Evan than met the eye.
As they reached the parking lot, Amelia paused, looking thoughtful. "So, what's the plan now? Do you still wanna head home?"
Lily nodded. "Yeah, I need to clear my head. This day has been... a lot".
"I get that," Amelia agreed. "But you know I'm just a call away if you need to talk or anything".
"Thanks, Ams. I really appreciate it," Lily said sincerely.
"Anytime," Amelia replied with a warm smile. "You want me to drop you off?"
"That would be great," Lily said, grateful for the offer. "I don't feel like using one of the Chauffeurs'".
As they got into the car, Lily's thoughts returned to Evan. She couldn't quite put her finger on it, but something about him intrigued her. He was more than just the guy who saved her dad-there was something else, something she couldn't ignore.
"Hey, Lily?" Amelia's voice broke through her thoughts.
"Hmm?" Lily turned to her.
"You're thinking about him, aren't you?"
Lily sighed, realizing she had been lost in her thoughts again. "I guess I am. I don't know why, but I feel like there's more to him. Like he's... important somehow".
Amelia chuckled softly. "You're overthinking again. But who knows? Maybe you're right".
"Maybe," Lily mused, though she wasn't sure what that meant just yet.
They drove in comfortable silence for a while, each lost in their own thoughts. As they pulled up to Lily's house, Amelia gave her a reassuring smile. "Take it easy, okay? And call me if you need anything".
"I will," Lily promised, getting out of the car. "Thanks again, Ams".
"Anytime," Amelia said, giving her a little wave before driving off.
Lily watched Amelia's car disappear down the street before turning toward her house. The night was quiet, almost too quiet, and the silence pressed down on her as she walked up the steps. The guards and maids greeted her, but she ignored them.
She paused at the door, the weight of the day still heavy on her shoulders. With a sigh, she unlocked the door and stepped inside.
She headed straight to her room. As she laid back on her bed, her phone buzzed.
She picked it up. It was a message notification from Amelia.
"Hey, I just got back home". Amelia said.
"That was quick". Lily replied.
"Yeah. I used a shortcut. Anyway, I was just checking up on you. Do you feel better?"
"A bit".
"That's good to hear," Amelia replied. "Just take it easy tonight. Don't let everything get to you, okay?"
"I'll try," Lily typed back, forcing herself to take a deep breath.
She put down her phone and stared at the ceiling, trying to push all the swirling thoughts out of her mind. She needed rest, but every time she closed her eyes, she saw Evan's face-his expression unreadable, his eyes filled with something she couldn't quite place.
'I hope I'll see him again' She muttered silently to herself, before drifting off to sleep.
