As I caught sight of her silhouette, my heart surged with excitement. But it quickly turned to dread as I noticed the two figures closing in on her.
'Our mate! We found her, but she's in danger
Alex, my Wolf howls in my head. His excitement is palpable. But my eyes are fixed on the figures chasing her.
'I know, we need to save her'
Without a second thought, I abandoned the car, chasing after them. With each stride, the distance between us closed, fueled by the urgency to protect what was mine.
As I got closer, the scent grew stronger and stronger.
Just before they could harm her, I intervened and saved her.
I began to walk towards her while transforming back into my human form.
"I finally found you, mate," I said.
"Carry her, we should take her home"
Alex continued to growl in my head. He couldn't contain his excitement.
I was as happy as he was, but I wouldn't want to do anything to scare her.
"Stay calm, you're safe now" I spoke, walking slowly towards her.
"Get away from me, you mons–" She passed out just before she could finish her statement.
I rushed towards her and carried her in my arms. A torrent of energy surged through my body as soon as I touched her body.
"It's her. She is the one. But why can't we feel her wolf?"
My wolf continued growling.
"I don't know, something must be blocking us from reaching out to her wolf" I spoke through my mind.
"Why?" Alex Sounded restless.
Gently, I lay her on the passenger seat and started driving home.
"Are we taking her to our pack?"
"Yes Alex, we are taking her home. She's badly injured"
From the way she reacted, I know she doesn't know her true identity. She hasn't seen my kind before. She has a lot to learn and I pray she doesn't feel overwhelmed by all this.
This is the happiest day of my life, I've searched for her everywhere.
"Where have you been all this while?" I muttered to myself admiring her beauty.
I glance at her, lying peacefully in the back seat of the car. My heart swells with a mixture of tenderness and concern.
Despite the stillness of her form, there's an ethereal beauty about her that transcends the physical realm.
Her features are softened in repose, her breathing gentle and steady like the whisper of a breeze through the trees.
"Touch her again"
My wolf was going crazy and couldn't contain his excitement.
I felt the urge to touch her too but I was driving.
As I pulled up to the familiar territory of our pack, the urgency of the situation gripped my heart like a vice.
My mate lay unconscious beside me, her form fragile and vulnerable against the car seat.
Without hesitation, I hurried to her side, the weight of her stillness driving me to act swiftly.
With gentle hands, I lifted her into my arms, her body limp and unresponsive.
Every fiber of my being screamed with the need to protect her, to ensure her safety at any cost.
She was my mate, my other half, and I would move heaven and earth to keep her from harm.
As I carried her through the hospital doors, the urgency of our situation only intensified.
Time seemed to blur around me as I focused all my energy on getting her the help she needed.
Finally, we reached the emergency room, and I laid her gently onto the waiting gurney.
The medical staff sprang into action, their movements a blur of efficiency and expertise.
I watched as they whisked her away, my heart aching to be with her again.
At that moment, all I could do was wait. My eyes never left the doors that separated me from the love of my life.
Every fiber of my being yearned for her safety, for her swift return to health.
She was my mate, my everything, and I wanted to smell her scent more. I want to feel her delicate body in my arms again.
While I was waiting, my phone rang. My eyebrows furrowed as I stared at the screen.
"What?" I said as I answered the call.
"Where have you been? We were supposed to spend the night together" Lydia's voice spoke through the phone.
Lydia was my betrothed.
She's served and satisfied my needs during the absence of my mate.
"Plans canceled." I started " I have something more important to attend to"
"Something more important? Does that mean I'm not important to you?" she asked, "Where are you?" her tone sounded so desperate.
"Alpha Damien, your mother wants to see you" A voice interrupted my call with Lydia.
Turned in the direction of the voice and saw Eric, my beta and assistant.
"Why?" I questioned.
"I don't know, sir, but it seems she has something important to tell you," he said.
"All right, tell her I will be there in a minute," I said, and he nodded, leaving right away.
"Damien!" Lydia shouted through the phone.
"Don't raise your voice at me. I said I have something more important to attend to," I growled. "Don't make me repeat myself, Lydia."
She scoffed and hung up the call.
"Eric," I called. "Keep an eye on the patient I brought in. Inform the doctor to move her to the vip section." I said.
"Yes sir," He answered.
"And please, don't let anyone find out about her just yet" I said and he nodded
