Chapter 5 The wedding Reception

Frederick's POV

"Jasper, is everything in order? Everything needs to be flawless," I questioned Jasper while carefully watching my watch for a brief minute.

Jasper put his hand on my arm and said, "That's like the fifth time in a row you've asked me that obvious question, Frederick."

"Everything is in order, and everything will proceed as expected. He comforted me, "Your dad, Mrs. Richard, Olivia, Charles, and other relatives are taking care of the guests."

"And Evelyn? When will she finish up? They've only been dressing her for about three hours.

"Oh come on. She is a married woman. They are working so hard because they want her to look stunning. They ought to be finished in fifteen.

"All right. Then I guess I'll have to wait."

I am going to go to the ballroom. Frederick, best wishes. I'll make sure I'm always visible if you need anything at all."

Yes, Jasper. I'll see you around.

Jasper vanished down the corridor, leaving the hallway to myself. Even though I was scared, I tried to keep my expression neutral.

Errors were not tolerated. We had to make sure our money had not been wasted because the whole thing had cost both families millions of dollars.

I peered out the nearby window and then up into the night sky. It was lovely, serene, and enchanted. All around New York City, lights were dazzling and the stars were twinkling.

Everything reminded me of my mother. In an instant, she had passed into history, yet her recollections remained as vivid in my mind as if she had just died moments before.

I was reminded of her by the stars. It was like Mom was standing right there, watching over me from heaven, when I looked at them. If only I could tell her how much I loved her and cuddled her one final time.

One of the doors opened, interrupting my thoughts. When I turned around, I saw a lot of individuals leave, the majority of whom I recognized as makeup artists and other professionals. I suppose they were finished.

As they all departed, they acknowledged me and gave me compliments on how I looked. In any case, I was not unfamiliar with it.

"Your bride is ready, Mr. William. An older woman, the last to leave the room, said, "We'll leave the two of you alone."

I thanked her and nodded before seeing her go. Now, where in the world was "my bride"?

Was she expecting me to walk in, give her a few savage compliments, and then usher her out?

I chose to go ahead and take the initial step just to save time. I stumbled inside the room and was left dumbfounded by what I saw. With trepidation, I eyed Evelyn's magnificent body and looks.

What a cheese! Has she just been glorious?

She was jealous, but a better word would have done her masterful perfection, beauty, and splendor credit. Her eyes were the first thing that made me want to turn the whole universe upside down.

They stood for the ocean, which is one of my favorite locations on earth. They had a deep ocean-blue color that exuded perfection, gentleness, and purity.

Why hadn't I noticed them before? I had never really taken the time to study her features, but it was impossible to ignore her now.

I realized that this was the first time I had looked her in the eyes and seen her for the person she truly was-not as an enemy who had stormed into my life intending to cause havoc.

When she noticed me staring at her, her crescent-shaped eyebrow tilted slightly, and her languid velvet-black eyelashes flickered elegantly. Her hair was the kind that would look amazing spread out across my pillow.

She had a gorgeous head of naturally light blonde hair that fell in graceful, smooth streamers around her gorgeous face.

Her lips were mouthwatering, and her skin was immaculate. Her body thunderously rendered her face beautiful. Her gown, which complemented her body with numerous carats of diamonds, was created from the finest silk fabrics.

The majority of the items were embellished with gold and diamonds because my family's business was all about jewels and precious minerals, particularly diamonds.

Evelyn belonged to the category of women who could look stunning in everything. Her dress featured a cleavage that flaunted her firm, big breasts, which seemed as though they had never been touched or handled like glass by a man.

It was going to be difficult to live with her for a whole year without harboring dirty thoughts. Evelyn had a stunning appearance. She was not the kind of lady to use her beauty to attract the attention of every man, in contrast to most ladies I had encountered. Her beauty was special and distinctive.

How could I have possibly thought this? She was merely a setup. It would just make my life more difficult to try to get to know her better.

"H-how do I look?" Evelyn's lovely sotto voce voice faltered.

Her tone was soothing, quiet, and sweet. Although it fit her demeanor, I had a feeling she could have been more outspoken. All she had was not enough confidence.

Evelyn, you look fantastic. It's time for us to leave. The visitors are waiting."

I had to keep it brief and easy so as not to say anything that might upset her.

"You look amazing," she said to me.

Why did it sound different coming from her all of a sudden?

"I'm grateful. Should we?" She nodded quietly to my question, and we locked arms.

When we were introduced, we looked really impressive with the bright spotlight shining on us. We had a variety of responses from the audience, making the event strange.

My wife's dreamy eyes caught my attention, and I felt compelled to tightly clutch the small of her back. My instincts took over, though I'm not sure why. Even though I had no desire to share this arrangement.

The ballroom's pillar centerpieces, which featured crystals tumbling down them, added an elegant touch. At least two meters tall, an eight-tiered cake with exquisite diamond decorations stood on a table in the middle of the ballroom.

The evening proceeded smoothly as I presented Evelyn to my loved ones and close companions. I was pleased with her treatment of my family. She treated them with grace and as members of her own family.

Aria was too impatient and impatient to deal with my folks. If she was going to be my wife, we had to get serious about it. She seemed like she was grinning. Her captivating pearly white teeth illuminated the space.

We had to wait a long time to serve the guests before being treated to some great wine. The Richards ran a prosperous beverage firm that made the best juices, sodas, wine, energy drinks, and other beverages.

Their business had a billion-dollar value. Like us, they were involved in various industries, but it was their primary.

"You're doing well. Fantastic work with your voice."

"Thanks, I guess. It looks like you guys put a lot of effort into this. It's wonderful, and I know that everyone adores it.

She seemed to just have kind things to say, and she was endearing.

"You didn't reply to me the other day when I apologized about Natasha."

I mentally relived the entire incident. I was incensed by that. Evelyn had no business being treated that way by Natasha. Her actions were completely inhumane.

Let's put it off until later, then. We have incredibly significant things to take care of right now."

She was avoiding the subject, I could tell. It made her uncomfortable and she felt embarrassed about the whole thing. I recognized her.

I looked up as I heard someone say, "Frederick William," demanding my undivided attention.

"Calleiro, Nicholas. What a delightful surprise," I exclaimed in response, hugging my close friend.

Just as enthusiastically as I had hugged him, he hugged me back.

"Hey, nice to see you. He said, "I see you are still glowing as usual," as I studied his features.

Despite living in Australia for two years, Nick remains the same.

"And our gorgeous bride," he said, taking Evelyn's soft hand and giving it a quick kiss.

He was the same. Mr. Charming nevertheless. Evelyn's cheeks flushed a little, and curiosity flickered in her gaze.

"You are the guy from yesterday, right?" she inquired as Nick grinned broadly and gave her a light squeeze before releasing her hand.

"Evelyn seems to have a good memory. Sure, it's me, sweetie."

I gently punched Nick in the shoulder.

"You're insane. Was it really necessary for you to deliver this communication anonymously?"

"I only needed a dramatic sequence to give you a little pause." I hope I aroused your suspicions."

"No chance, and when were you back?" At the very least, you ought to have alerted us."

"I immediately booked the first trip here and packed my luggage as soon as I learned of your marriage. I wanted to personally verify that you were getting married."

"That's a good thing. I said, "Well, let me formally introduce you guys," pulling Evelyn toward me with a gentle tug on her curvy waist and planting a kiss on her head.

There was media coverage everywhere. We needed to appear authentic.

"This is Nicholas Calleiro, a friend of mine, Evelyn. He goes by Nick to everyone. Nick, Evelyn, my spouse."

"Nice to meet you, Nick," Evelyn grinned and replied.

Nick was unable to look away from her. It seemed as though he was witnessing a stunning woman for the first time in his existence.

"Evelyn, nice to meet you as well. You look amazing tonight-in fact, you looked stunning yesterday as well. You are a very beautiful woman.

"T-thank you, Nick."

Nick grinned widely when he saw how much she was blushing.

At that moment, his younger sister-who was exactly her age-joined us. She complimented us and said hello to us both. She was equally brilliant and astounding as her brother. Each time we got together, we spoke a lot.

"Hi, Evelyn. My name is Monica. Your spouse is my brother's and my friend, and I'm just this psycho's little sister. Greetings from the family. It is a pleasure to have you here. Monica gave a vivacious little chirp as she tightly hugged Evelyn.

When the two women struck up conversations with other women, they became invisible in the throng. It would be a great friendship.

"How did you become so fortunate, Fred? She is flawless in every way. If I could have a wife like her, I would do anything."

"You barely even know her Nick."

"Her soul's map is seen in her eyes. They say she's incredible. Despite her flaws, she is perfect."

"You do realize it's my wife we are talking about right?"

Naturally, Frederick. I'm merely offering praise. I would never dream of taking what is rightfully yours. Together, the two of you are ideal."

"I hope you won't stand as a threat to my marriage in the future because the way you are looking at her is making me uncomfortable," I said with a grin.

He said, "Cheers to that," and we raised our wine glasses in agreement.

When I noticed Evelyn glancing at me, I quickly snapped her attention back to what she was doing. I couldn't help but smile to myself.

Aria then flashed me a seductive smile as I saw her standing with Olivia. She had a stunning appearance. I was reminded by her presence that I loved her and Evelyn had no place in my heart. I had to keep it that way.

Everything about the reception flowed smoothly. We performed our dance, which was excellent.

We ended the day with a fireworks display after a long, enjoyable, and successful night.

With calm, we said our guests farewell. I turned to see Evelyn laughing with Nick, Jasper, and Monica over a ridiculous joke that Jasper had made. Observing them all giggling was quite the sight.

She laughed. Whoa.

"It's quite a lovely sight right?" Dad inquired, grinning at Jasper, Evelyn, Nick, and Monica from where he stood next to me.

"What's up, Dad?"

"We had a great success tonight. It is now your responsibility to look after your wife."

I said to Evelyn, "I see you are worried about that girl."

"That girl happens to be your wife, Frederick, so I'd appreciate it if you were to show her some respect."

"Dad, temporary spouse. It appears that you are going a little too far with this."

What specific grievance do you hold against Evelyn? Is it not evident to you the extent of her kindness? Her eyes convey a wealth of experience. Why won't you show her some respect?"

"Yes, Dad, I do respect her. When you act as though she's your daughter-in-law for life, it becomes problematic."

"Are we going to fight about this Frederick?"

"What's wrong with Aria, Dad? Everything was wonderful in our lives before Evelyn's arrival. You're acting strange right now."

"I don't hate Aria in any way. I respect that she is your girlfriend. All I can say is that Evelyn is a kind individual. Don't hold her responsible for the circumstances."

"All right, Dad. I'll follow your instructions.

"Two days from now is your honeymoon. Enjoy yourself, Son," he patted my back.

That was what he did each time he knew I was upset.

"I don't want to fight with you, Dad."

"That's not what I want either. Fred, you are loved by us. From your mother and me.

It was going to be more difficult than I anticipated. There was little chance of us ever getting divorced if Dad developed feelings for Evelyn. Although he wasn't talking to me about it, I could see where it was going. His approval was important, but he would never force me to remain in a loveless marriage.

I took another glance at Evelyn. She seemed to be pleading for assistance and calm, so even though I didn't want to interact with her, I felt bad about it.

Lord, why me?
