Chapter 2 Dying

HANNAH

"Please let me go." I didn't know how many times I begged Casey to set me free since Eliot handed me over to her. Tiny hope in my heart instantly died out as I realized she was on his side, not mine, as the best friends we used to be. I knew it probably related to her position as Omega and my mate as Alpha. Still, at least, she should show me her concern instead of her cold expression.

She didn't reply and was just silent when Eliot's men dragged me to a designated room for me in the hospital. Don't ask me why I didn't beg them to release me because I did it so many times, and the result was the same. No responses.

Soon, we reached my room, and only then did they let me go.

"Don't think of running away because they already watch all exit way, including this room," Casey told me after those men walked out, only to stop in front of this room. What she said might be true. Eliot ensured that there was no room for me to slip away.

"Why are you doing this to me?" I asked before she proceeded to the door to leave me alone in this cold and small room. The hospital always gave me an eerie feeling.

"Because I have to do this for my Alpha. We must erase you from our lives."

My brows furrowed at her words. We? Our lives? Who was she referring to?

"Oh, in case you haven't heard this. I'm Alpha Eliot's new mate, the second mate he talked about before. I'm going to replace you as his Luna."

My eyes widened in shock. No. It was impossible. The goddess wouldn't let that happen because we were still mated to each other. I could feel that. He was still mine.

While I was still in complete shock, she continued to speak. "So, back off and stay away from our lives. You mean nothing to him anymore. Do you understand?"

Then she left me dumbfounded. And before she disappeared, she ordered the men in front of my room to keep their eyes on me. Meanwhile, I could only freeze in place. My brain was digesting the information hard.

But before I could understand everything, I felt drops running down my cheeks. I cried and let the tears take over me for the umpteenth time.

I didn't know which one hurt me more. Eliot had another mate, or I would lose my baby-our baby. These were too much for me to take. I lost everything I had just in a month.

I fell to my knees as I couldn't hold the pain anymore. My family, my previous pack, my current pack, my mate, and my baby... I lost them all and had no one to depend on anymore. I was alone, and that thought scared me.

I wanted to scream, but to whom? To the Moon Goddess? She was kind enough to give me life, though it became painful now. However, I still held good on her that there was a positive in every fate she threw at us. Although it seemed not like that at all. Maybe I could have a happy ending after these tragic events. Perhaps Eliot's heart would soften someday, and all I had to do was only bear with him by his side.

But I couldn't see the future anymore with the information Eliot and Casey gave about them becoming a mate. It was dark as if it was the end of my journey. Worst, the dark suddenly surrounded me like I was put in a black box.

Then, was it really the Goddess' mistake to toss this cruel fate to me?

What about Eliot, who didn't want to listen to my explanation?

What about him, that didn't accept his baby?

And what about my mate, that wouldn't acknowledge me as his Luna anymore?

Eliot was betraying me by breaking our promise of love and being faithful to each other forever. He was hurting me by doing them all.

I hated him, yet I couldn't erase my feelings for him. I loved him since I knew what love was.

I was crying, taking out the pain that had trampled my chest.

--

I was lost in my thought when the doctor came and injected something into the infusion attached to my hand. She said something about the time and operation, but I guessed I didn't hear her properly as my mind was wandering away.

I could finally get myself together as Casey entered the room. She glanced at me before beelining toward the doctor with a brown envelope in her hand.

"I already injected anesthetic. She's ready to transport to the operation room." The doctor reported my condition to her.

A smug smile was tugged on Casey's lips as she replied, "Good. And this is your payment." She then handed a brown envelope to her.

The doctor received it and took a quick look before returning her attention to her. "It's all good then."

"Yes. Make it as natural as possible. I don't want any suspicion."

"Sure. Losing too much blood is perfect. It most likely happens in an abortion. No one will question that."

My brows furrowed at their odd conversation. I felt something wasn't right, and I was sure they were talking about me. Abortion and the operation room were enough clues as those were where I was heading to.

But losing blood?

"Good. Make sure she'll die today."

"Yes, Luna."

Wait. Die? Was I going to die?

"I'm not officially a Luna."

"Soon, after she dies, you'll be Luna of our pack."

I looked at Casey in disbelief. Did she plan all of this? To kill me?

I was in a rage. I wanted to shout at them, telling them how crazy they were, when I realized nothing had come out of my mouth. No. I couldn't even move my lips. I felt numb all over my body, and soon my eyes grew heavier.

Oh, no! I was going to die, but I couldn't do anything to fight for my life.

And before everything went dark, I glared at them with complete hatred. If I really died today, I would haunt them for the rest of their lives.
