Chapter 5 The Run

TRISTAN POV

It was a hustle getting back to the warehouse without getting caught.

For goodness's sake!

I trained these boys to be certain of the environment while we drove past the streets.

How come they didn't know the police were tracking us? I wondered when the truck parked in front of the compound.

I brought out my tracker and tracked the environment in a bid to be certain we did not let enemies into our space.

When it was confirmed, we then drove into the compound when one of the men who stayed back in the warehouse opened the gate.

"What happened?" One of them asked and without saying a word to him, I walked past after throwing my backpack at him.

Now I could hear him throw his question at the rest of the men who had gotten down from the truck, followed by their footsteps as they marched into the warehouse.

In a rage, I threw the helmet on the floor. It could not be broken, after all.

In a fierce rage, I led the way to one of the chairs in the space and took a seat in it, while I waited for the other men to join me inside.

"Come on in!" I screamed at them when they were yet to make it into the space. "Do I seem like a time-waster to you?"

They hurried and in seconds, they were standing and bowing before me.

"What was that?"

Finally, I raised my question.

"What makes you think we can get away if the police or any member of the government has a hold on us?"

"We are sorry, master," one of the men walked forward and bowed. "We didn't expect it to turn out that way." He said with another bow and then moved back a bit.

"I see."

I got on my feet and paced the room.

"The next time we encounter a problem as huge as this," I said. "I will not hesitate to cut off the head of whoever it is that is in charge of the operation for that day."

"Yes, my lord." They all echoed.

Without saying a word, I walked to the spot where the helmet dropped and then picked it up. "Leave my sight!"

Once again, I was alone in the space.

It was high time I left the warehouse and returned to the pack unless I didn't mind getting more than enough phone calls from my twin brother, who always reached out to me on behalf of the others.

"I shall see you men on our next operation," I said to a few of the men whom I met on my way out.

I walked to the car I drove in in the early hours of the morning and without hesitation or thinking twice, I took a seat in the driver's seat.

Whatever was going on in the pack? I wondered as I drove out of the warehouse compound.

The car began its job description and I watched the streets of the city become calm once again, unlike the way it was when we let loose and were being chased by the police.

How were we caught? I wondered at this point. What if one of the men who works with me, gave out a few details to the police?

"Where are you coming from, my lord?" The man in uniform who recognized me, asked, bowing. "Welcome back home."

"Thank you, sir," I pulled out an invitation letter from the space next to me. "I attended an event on behalf of Father and my brothers. I am just returning from my trip."

"Did you go well?"

"Yes," I heaved a sigh.

"I heard of the attack on my way back and had to wait some more before continuing my journey."

"It was quite severe. Thankfully, no one is hurt." He leaned on the window of my car, looking around. "Are you sure you are safe?"

"Yes, officer," I replied with a nod of affirmation. "I must hurry to the pack. Father and my other brothers have called me too much on this day."

Now he got off from the spot, handing back the letter I gave to him, to me. "Say me well to the men of the pack, as well as the members."

"I shall do as you have asked."

Without being asked to, I drove past him.

The tires of the car led its way to the gate of the pack, although on my order. Soon enough, I was blaring and honking the horn at the gate where I parked, waiting to be let in.

"Welcome, my Prince." Men at the gate echoed. "Welcome back to the pack."

There was nothing I had to say to them, so I drove past them and into the compound.

Members were scattered all around and for some reason I didn't know, I could not help but wonder if anything had gone wrong.

I drove to the parking lot where the car was parked and the next moment I was finding my way out of the car.

Guards who were assigned to me found their way to my behinds after a bow, and we led the way into the royal chamber and Manor.

"Tristan!"

It was one of my brothers, although I didn't know which one exactly.

I turned around to meet Logan's gaze and a smile came alive on my face. "What is it, brother?"

"Where have you been all day?" He walked closer, his hands behind him. "Where did you go?"

"What does my whereabouts have to do with you, Logan?"

"What does it not have to do with me?" He spat. "Didn't you see the city wasn't safe about an hour ago? What happened to returning your calls and letting us know of your safety?"

"Forgive me," I bowed. "I shall not do a thing like this, next time," I said again, turning around and finding my way out of his sight.

"Father wants to see you!"

"Tell Father to give me some time. I need to take a bath."
