Chapter 4 Trouble 2

EMILIA POV

In seconds, I was standing in front of him, staring into his face.

"How could you?"

Not only did I ask my question, but my hand hit his cheek with a resounding slap, calling the attention of the man in uniform.

"Madam, what is the matter?" The man who searched me and my bag, asked, holding me from Tristan's.

"Leave me alone!" I yelled at the man, jerking off from him. "How could you, Tristan?" I asked, already crying. "Is two years not enough time for you to love me?"

"Woah!" Tristan cried, touching his cheek. "You have the wrong person, my Lady."

I gazed at him, fire in my eyes.

Not just in my eyes, but in my bones as well.

What did he mean by I have the wrong person? It wasn't hard for me to recognize him and the car we went on a date in, once. Was it?

"Excuse us," Tristan said to the man in uniform who walked away. "I can handle this."

What was he going to say to make me feel better than the worse I felt? I wondered, waiting to hear his reasons and excuses, as usual.

"Look!" He yelled. "You don't walk up to strangers and slap them because you can." His hand massaged his cheek and he fixed his gaze on me once again.

"What-?"

I was ready to slap him again, with the next batch of words that was prepared to proceed from my mouth, but he cut me short before I could finish.

"My name is Orion!" His words sounded in my ears. "Tristan is my brother. I'm sure he told you he is the Prince of a pack, and has many brothers including a twin!"

Shocked, I refused to believe my ears.

"You should also identify him without coming at the wrong person," the stranger scoffed and walked to the car. He opened it and took out a handkerchief. "That's what people who are in love do: know who is who."

Without saying any more words, he was out of my sight.

Did he-walk out on me?

I looked around me and there were wolves and normal humans who stared at me, pity in the eyes of some, while the others mocked me with words that they muttered to themselves.

Gripping the handbag, I hung it on my shoulder and headed to the gate.

It was hard to believe everything I heard, but what could I do?

The man who I met looked like the man I love. They had the same haircut and face, including movement.

How could this be possible?

Does it mean that Tristan never loved me? Because if he did, why did he keep his identity away from me?

How did I not know he was the Alpha's son?

How was I supposed to know? I am a woman who doesn't fancy information about people, or even leave the apartment unless it was on a date, or my trip to the company I work in.

I deserved to know!

For goodness's sake, I have been played once again!

Who was I to think Tristan was any different? All men are the same, but he acted like he was not the same as the others.

Just as I thought, standing at the corner of the main road-voices filled the streets.

I looked to my right, and then my left. Some citizens ran helter-skelter, heading to a spot for safety.

I screamed out my lungs and turned around, pushing the gate I walked out from and rushing back into the compound.

"The masked men are at it again!" An elderly woman shouted. "Run for your safety!"

No one asked me to head back to the club I just got out from.

The loud music in the space had stopped at this point, while people stayed in a corner of the room as they cried for safety.

When would all of these end?

No one was safe in the city anymore. Not with these men who have chosen to remain unknown to us and the government.

For goodness's sake!

Why was the police and government not doing what should be done?

What do they want exactly?

After a long while of silence in the club-not only in the club but on the street as well, everywhere was calm once again.

"They have left." The man in uniform, working as a security guard, walked into the space with his information. "The streets are back to life."

Now I got on my feet and walked out of the club. The noise and sounds from the speaker systems returned once more, and the people who were scared a few moments ago laughed and continued with the party that was halted.

I hopped in a cab and was at the gate of my apartment soon enough. Now was not the time to think of Tristan and his family stories, but of my life that could have been cut short a few moments ago.

The very moment I walked into my apartment, I shut the door and fell on one of the few couches in the living room.

It was at this point that the thoughts I was trying so hard to forget came into my head and for a moment, I shed tears.

Have I been used?

Wasn't it obvious?

Orion or whatever his name is, did not lie about what he said.

Wait!

What if it was Tristan, acting as though it wasn't him? I wondered, sitting up on the couch and shaking my head.

It wasn't him.

If it was him, I would know from the tone I would be spoken to, with.

He has always been a rude man and never failed to show it, whether or not he was the one at fault whenever we had a fight.

After a moment of sulking, I got on my feet.

I should have apologized to the man I slapped. But how could I? Was I going to do so with my shattered heart that seemed like it was never going to heal from the pain it went through?
