Carissa came out of the restroom, when she got into the bar she tried searching for her friends to know if they were ready to go home, but they weren't, and with a resigned sigh made her way back to her seat at the bar to continue drowning her sorrows in glasses.
"Might as well put my problems away for the night", she muttered under her breath.
She had almost gotten to her seat when she noticed a man bent over a glass seated close to her empty seat. She immediately noticed how broad his shoulder was and though he was seated, she instinctively knew he was tall. She got to her seat and drew it back, this seemed to draw the man's attention as he raised his head, looked at her, and then straightened, he had a frown on his face, but it didn't stop her from noticing his eyes, they seemed black in the dim light of the bar and his face was well sculpted, like that of a Greek god, with a stubborn set of chin, she noticed his thick dark hair, seemed like it was styled by an experienced hair stylist, noticed his chest through the V of the shirt, it was scattered with hair, as black as his hair. She couldn't tell if it was the drinks at work but she thought he smelled good, as the fragrance of his cologne registered in her mind. She suddenly felt self-conscious, instinctively reaching out to smoothen her hair, she gulped and turned to the bartender to order a refill.
Adonis had almost forgotten about the brunette-haired lady amidst all the drama with Brian. Turning to look at her now, he could see her close up, he took in her features, from her lips which looked plump and inviting that he could imagine kissing her, to her eyes and although she had mascara on, he noticed how full her lashes were and he thought her pupils looked honey brown, though he wasn't sure because the light in the bar was dim, he took in the face, the shape, and how each feature seemed to fit perfectly well, he noticed her hair, which she wore shoulder length and he thought it suited her perfectly well. Her shoulders were slender and the strapless dress she had on showed off her flawless skin, he caught the scent of her perfume and sniffed a little cause it smelled heavenly. He had already noticed her shape from when she stood up earlier and he knew she was feminine through and through, with her height on the average side, he guessed her age to be around 24 or so. He felt the same kick to his gut he had felt earlier and a similar reaction in his nether region.
"What the hell is wrong with me"?! Shifting uncomfortably on his seat he muttered under his breath.
"Must have had one too many drinks", even though that was just his second glass.
"Excuse me"? The brunette interrupted his train of thought.
"Huh"? he seemed confused.
"Oh, thought you said something "
"Nah, I was talking to myself ", he told her then chuckled wryly. Damn!, what was wrong with him! he was always confident, always! and never felt this conscious around a lady. How great!, a billionaire and the sole heir to one of the biggest companies in New York squirming cause of a woman, it was always the other way around for him, the ladies swoon and he acts indifferent. He was surprised at the intensity of the attraction he felt towards her, she was beautiful quite alright but he wasn't the type of guy to feel such a way towards a lady, especially one he didn't know, moreover, he liked his woman on the model side and this particular surely didn't fit that picture, she had curves and even though they were in the 'right places' he liked them model!, skinny and blonde, perfect tabloid material. Knowing it would be rude not to carry on a conversation with her at that point;
"Ehm......you alone"?
"Nope!, came with my friends", she replied, took a sip from her glass, set it down, and turned a little towards him,
"You"?
"No......" he scratched his head wondering how much to tell her.
Raising a perfectly arched brow at him she waited for him to continue.
Sighed and looked into his glass,
"I came with my best friend Brian", he took a drink
Looking around, she turned to him and said
"And"?
"Oh, he's over there by the booth with his girlfriend", turning fully to face her, "Let's switch topics, I came here to drink and not think and except you're up for it, I'll love to get down to it", he said the thoughts of Brian inviting his girlfriend made him angry again.
Grinning widely, she said, "Works for me too, I mean, it won't hurt to take a few hours away from the real world".
"Your name"? he raised an eyebrow at her in question.
"Oh, Rissa" came her reply.
He took a drink from his glass oblivious to her questioning look, and looked to see her looking at him
"What"?, Raising one perfectly arched brow in her direction.
"Won't you tell me your name"?
Chuckling, he said "Name is Adonis "
She thought about it for a while and gave him that grin that he was beginning to like, she seemed to grin a lot, he thought to himself.
"That's a cool name, you look the part, you know"
"How"?
"C'mon, don't tell me you're oblivious to your looks", she teased him, wiggling her brows at him.
He shrugged, "A little ego boost won't hurt"
"Oh!, trust me you ooze of plenty masculine ego, anymore ego boost and we'll be in trouble". He didn't know if she was really into him or if it was the drinks talking, besides she had been drinking for a while.
Raising his glass, he brought it towards her, she raised hers too and they clicked glasses in a toast.
"Here's to a few hours away from reality, Rissa"
"To a few hours away from reality ", she echoed.
