Chapter 3 HUMILIATIONS

As Romsey turned to leave the room, he heard Lucas's mocking scream "Loser!" The words pierced through him, adding to his already deep sense of humiliation.

Stepping out of the room, Romsey was met with the harsh sound of the door slamming shut behind him, followed by Fiona's footsteps as she hurried to lock the main entrance. He tried to sit on the sofa, seeking a moment of respite, but Fiona grabbed him, her grip firm.

"I didn't tell you to leave the room, I meant you should leave this house! Leave this residence!" Fiona's words were cutting, filled with disdain.

"Have you forgotten that it was gifted to me after our marriage? Walk out and don't make me push you out. You're a thorn in my flesh. I detest you, and I don't want to see a poor thing like you in front of me ever again."

Romsey felt the weight of her words like a heavy burden, the humiliation almost too much to bear.

He stands up and looks at Fiona right in the face, a drop of tears rolled down his cheek, he blinks his eyes and wipes off the tears, then turns to walk out of the house.

As Romsey stood by the roadside for some hours, busy cars were passing to and fro, he was thinking of the next step of his life. Fiona and Lucas were standing just at the parlor where they could see his next move, aiming to mock him.

A thought came to his mind, "he must meet Ralph's family and report to them about what just happened between him and Fiona,". "I believe her parents would call her to order" he whispered to himself, but notwithstanding he was in the middle of nowhere. Just as he was about to hail a cab, a Bugatti Veyron, painted black and shiny, pulled up beside him. The driver's horn sounded, indicating that his attention was needed. Romsey turned to look, the driver stepped out of the car and helped him carry his luggage into the vehicle. "Hop in, young master, I'm glad I found you just soon".

He hopped into the car without hesitation. The silence in the car was broken when the driver spoke out. "Greetings sir," the driver said.

Romsey, shocked by the greeting, turned to look at the driver, but his mind was telling him that yet another rich folk was trying to play with his feelings. He turned away without a reply.

"Where are you heading, sir?" the driver asked. Romsey turned the second time but he instead asked a question, pretending not to notice that he was the only stranger in that car. "Are you referring to me?" he asked curiously.

"Yes, sir," the driver answered. "What's your name?, And please is this a taxi?" Romsey asked, "I got no money to pay for this ride, please" he added, trying to begin the conversation with a spark of familiarity.

"I am Robson, sir. Where are you heading?" he asked again. Romsey had nowhere in mind. He was looking out through the window, but then something caught his attention.

A lodge, that seemed to fit an average class man, was there, just along the road. He pointed to the driver immediately, directing him to stop there. "There, sir," Romsey said, as though he had prepared to stop at that very location.

The driver blinked the indicator and drove into the car park just by the lodge. The attendant there rushed to the vehicle, seeing it to be a classy one. "You're welcome, sir," they greeted as Romsey stepped down from the vehicle. A feeling of hope surged through his veins. He was imagining a lot of things.

"Imagine If I owned a car like this"

"Imagine how I would be, the things I'll do to show Lucas that I am man enough".

"Hey, sir, a man called out, but Romsey was so lost in thought, that he couldn't notice that his attention was needed.

Robson dropped from the car to assist Romsey in carrying his luggage. He had received enough information back at home, but there were things he still needed to see to affirm that it was truly Romsey, the son of the Baron. One was the ring that was given to him by his mother's friend.

Who had disguised herself when she saw Romsey working as a garbage man, but sad enough Romsey was duped by his neighbor and was given a token for such a costly item.

He walked into the lodge. It was written on the poster, "THE ROLLERCOSTER."

The interior was elegant, with a touch of class. Baron approached the attendant there. "Hello Ma," he greeted, "how much for a night here?"

The attendant quoted a high amount. All Romsey had with him was the $200 his neighbor had given to him in exchange for the costly ring he saw in his hands. He stuck his hands into his pocket as though trying to bring out cash, but then Robson handed the attendant a black card.

"It's fine, Mr. Romsey," Robson said to him.

The attendant looked at the card with great shock. She couldn't understand what it meant. "I'm sorry sir, we can't accept this here," she said.

"Can I speak with your manager?" Robson replied, "That's not possible, sir. I apologize for that."

After several discussions, the manager was called on the land phone which was placed on the table. "Hello there, this is the manager," a voice sounded from the phone.

The phone was handed over to Robson, who was almost furious.

"Hello," he started a conversation with the manager, but on mentioning the black VIP card, the manager quickly stopped the phone and said he was coming out immediately. Romsey stood there speechless. He couldn't imagine all that was happening. All he knew was that someone was helping him.

"Probably, fate is playing its role in my life," he whispered to himself. But his mind wasn't attached to it.

In some minutes, the manager arrived at the scene and greeted Robson.

" Yessir'! You're welcome". the manager said lightly, not recognizing the face.

"I'm Robson Charles, he replied, with a smile on his face, he handed over the card to the manager and turned to walk away.

"Wait, let me confirm something, sir," the manager said as he walked back into his office.

After some minutes, he returns with a smile on his face.

"It's fine sir, thanks for your patronage".

Robson drove back to deliver the news to the powerful billionaire, Mr. Baron Spears on the phone.

He arrived at the sprawling mansion, which was surrounded by a fleet of luxury cars. Among them, a one-of-a-kind car stood out, its body coated entirely in sparkling diamonds, catching the sunlight and casting shimmering reflections around the estate.

Walking into the mansion, Robson was greeted by a hallway that seemed to stretch into eternity, lined with extravagant paintings and adorned with intricate gold accents. The ceiling was a masterpiece of its own, embellished with stunning chandeliers that cast a warm, inviting glow.

Entering the waiting room, Robson was greeted by the opulence that surrounded him. The chairs were upholstered in the finest silk, with golden edges that gleamed in the soft light. The room exuded a sense of sophistication, befitting to be a mansion owned by a billionaire, though he wasn't leaving there
