Chapter 5 I Saw The Signs [Trish's POV]

It's now two weeks since the debacle and I have been released and been staying at my parents. James visited me daily while I was in the hospital and even worked from my room most days. He'd only leave to go home and shower, get new clothes or meet clients that he couldn't have meetings with over the phone.

He took care of and did his husband duties, considering I had an arm in a sling and was wearing a boot. I was lucky my injuries weren't worse considering the way my car was totalled. The doctor told me I should only need them for about two to four weeks before I can have them removed.

Truth be told, when I told him I wanted a divorce I meant it. The scene of him and Evie gutted me but that wasn't the only reason I was pulling the plug. Don't get me wrong, Evie was a very big part considering him and I have been arguing more than we ever did since she came back in the country three months ago. But I was also fed up with his family's treatment and his failure to do something about Evie. I made the last-minute decision to stop by his parents that day as mine turned out to have date plans, they had forgotten about. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect to see what I saw.

I could see the way she looked at him, the way she always wanted to sit next to him whenever she was around and would always jump to get him drinks or food. I don't know how he didn't see it, but I saw the signs. I'd spoken to my husband about her indecent fondness for him, but he'd always shut me down. He'd always brushed it off to me being paranoid and that she's just nice and always been like that since they were kids. But I knew better. I knew the look of a woman in love, and she was in love with my husband.

Plus, his family disliked me, and I knew it. They'd never show their disgust while he was around but made it their mission to remind me whenever he wasn't. I never really cared about wanting others to like me, but I never wanted to be at odds with my in-laws. I saw the relationship between my parents and their in-laws and that's how I imagined my marriage to be.

After three months of dating, I met his family. James and I were moving fast, at least to my standards. The two serious relationship I'd had before meeting James crawled compared to this. I'd met their families a year into our relationship, who were lovely people but then things would fizzle out shortly after. Well, one had cheated and got someone else pregnant, so not the typical fizzle.

I was scared to meet his family because he was different from the guys I'd dated. He was James Sterling; well-known CEO and billionaire of Sterling Industries and I was the daughter of a famer and a seamstress. We were never meant to meet but we did in my final year of university when I was twenty-five and he was thirty. He looked every bit of handsome as expected but never thought, he'd even look my way.

When he came over to me at final year dinner his company had sponsored for my university, I was so shocked. "You look radiant tonight.....miss?" He tilted his head waiting for me to fill in the blank.

"Trish Rose," I said as I was stared into his big beautiful blue eyes, and I was locked in ever since.
