Chapter 4 The Interview

Leonardo got home shortly after he left the bar, because the drive was a rough one. He stumbled inside and made his way to the cellar, grabbing a bottle of whiskey.

He poured himself a generous glass and sat down on the couch, taking a long drink.

As he sat there, his thoughts turned to Davina.

How can she just showed up,out of the blue after five years of leaving him. She expected him to just embrace her as if nothing happened.

Hell no!!!

He still haven't recover from all the pain she had caused him.

As he sat there in the dim light of the cellar, he found himself replaying the memory over and over again.

How he begged her so much not to leave him,a day before they got engaged but she had refused and elope with another man leaving him in nothing but pain.

Just then, he heard a sound from the other room. It was the sound of his dog, scratching at the door.

His face brighten up immediately,and got up from the couch and went to the door, letting his dog inside. The dog rushed over to him, tail wagging, and Leonardo couldn't help but smile as he bent down to pet him.

As he petted the dog, he found himself feeling a little less alone, a little less worried of the memory that had been plaguing him.

"How are you doing Chase?" He asked as if the dog could reply him.

"Do you miss me that much?" He chuckled as Chase won't stop pouring wet kiss all over his face.

"Are you hungry?" He asked and Chase twitched it's nose with interest.

"I see you're really hungry"

Leonardo reached for the dog's food bowl and filled it with kibble.

Chase sniffed at the food, then started eating. As Chase ate, Leonardo petted him, feeling a sense of calm wash over him. He had always found comfort in the company of animals.

He was still focused on the dog when he heard the front door open. He looked up to see Princeton carrying a Mikaela into the house.

Mikaela was obviously drunk, stumbling as the man tried to help her walk.

Leonardo watched as the Princeton helped the Mikaela to the couch, where she slumped down, her head lolling to one side.

"How did she got drunk?" He faced Princeton.

"I'm sorry boss! She begged me to grab a drink with her... I know I shouldn't have agreed,it's won't happen again I promise!" He explained with his head down

"I didn't say that, she's no longer a teenager it's fine to drink sometimes, I'm rest assured that she's I'm safe hand. Just don't allow her get drunk next time" Leonardo said.

Princeton gave a nod.

"About the new game?"

"The name is *PEARL PENNY* from what I heard, It's about a pearl hunt but they are still yet to found out how it's works,the board are still working on it" Princeton said.

"Alright! I'll just talk about it with Mr Ling tomorrow, you can leave after taking her to her room!" He shoved his hands into his pocket and started descending the stairs.

Chase left his food and ran after him immediately.

Princeton carried Mikaela in his arms,and she smile drunkenly hanging her hands around his neck, with her eyes shut.

He looked at her and adjust her properly in his arms before taking her to her room.

He gently placed her on the bed and covered her with a duvets and walk out.

He was still descending the stairs when he heard his phone beeped from his pocket.

He halted and brought it out. He actually got a message from Banjo. His best friend.

DON'T TELL ME YOU WON'T BE AVAILABLE FOR THE MATCH TOMORROW? KELLY IS GONNA THINK YOU ACTUALLY GIVE UP COS YOU AREN'T HIS MATCH AGAIN

He read and thought for a while before starting to type a reply.

✦I'M SORRY I WON'T BE MAKING IT BANJO! I HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF MOM AND WORKS TOO!! KINDLY HELP ME TO INFORM COACH, I'LL SURELY MAKE IT TO THE SEMI FINALE ROUND ✦

He tapped send and pocket his phone,he left the mansion heading to the garage he parked his official car.

As he was about getting there,his phone buzzed once more. It's definitely from Banjo,he didn't bothered checking it cos he knew he'll probably be cursing at him.

He entered the car,and drove out of the compound.

The sound of the alarm woke Lyric.

Her eyes parted ways in bed, and as the ringing penetrated into her ears, she squeezed her face and eventually sat up in bed.

He raised her head to the watch hunged on the wall,letting out a gasped as she checked the time.

"Oh no! I'm late!" She pushed the duvets off her body,and rushed into the bathroom.

Soon,she came out and wore her dress which she already arranged for today.

She stood in front of the mirror and smiled at her reflection,drawing her skirt a bit down her knees.

She walked out of the room,humming a song till she got downstairs.

"Mummy!" Pearl and Starr waved at her from the dinning table,she walk to them.

"Good morning Babies!" She took turns to gave the kids thier morning kiss and they both smile.

"What's the occasion mum? Why are you all dressed up?" Starr asked,with his mouth full.

"Yes mum, are we going out?" Pearl added.

"No kids,mom is going for a job interview! I just hope mom got accepted this time" Lyric smiled

"You'll surely be accepted mom, except you're going to encounter a cold hearted CEO,then that will be creepy!" Pearl said in a whisper.

"Seriously? Where did you hear that from?"

"From school, my classmates mom is working in a company and the CEO is Arrogant and full of himself,he always get mad at anything she does" Pearl explained.

"Don't mind her mom,even if he's cold,I heard a cold CEO are always handsome like me" Starr gushed.

"You're not even handsome,David is more handsome" Pearl rolled her eyes.

"Jeez you both should just let your mom eat in peace, you don't want to get there late will you?" Granny Lupe said,coming in.

"Right, I have to go" Lyric stood and gave Granny Lupe a peck before rushing out.

She was surprised to met,Gianna outside waiting for her.

"You're late!" She removed her shade glancing at Lyric from face to toe.

"What are you doing here?" Lyric asked surprisedly.

"To give you a lift to work of course, I don't want you to get there late then you won't be accepted, no way!" Gianna grabbed her hand and pulled her into the car.

She get into the driver seat and drive off.
